The atmosphere was welcoming, the décor was very generic of what’s been happening around Astoria. So, in one word: reclaimed; but the food definitely is not! I would suggest starting off with the roasted meatballs. They are quite amazing, doesn’t fill you up too much if you’re sharing and it’s served in a small skillet with a great big piece of toast-yum. The wine selection is great, the soda comes in the glass bottles(seeing quite a comeback of these around), your water is being constantly refreshed which is something important because it means we’re actually being taken care of. The service was top notch, very polite and well informed. The pizza options were out of this world. I got their St. Ghost which has lots of cheese and a hint of honey(blew my mind) my husband got the Van something with brusslesprouts + eggs(can’t go wrong). To end it all, we got the date cake with crème fraîche Gelato! All in all it was a great experience and will definitely go again!

If you are new to the area, I think this place is worth trying! FYI: If you like Kale and other vegetables Milkflower has some great options!

Get the meatballs!!! So delicious and you should probably order two orders because you’ll want to eat a bunch. The pizza is amazing! Had the queen(basic Margherita) and it was incredible! Lots of different choices. Also tasted the pasta with tomato sauce and cheese, yum! Pasta is definitely homemade or at least tastes that way. The sauce had a bit of a kick, a little spicy. The service was just ok. They brought out dinners for 5 of the 6 people in our party and the sixth had to wait another 10 minutes for hers(plus having to remind them several times that it still wasn’t brought out). It was delicious so can’t really complain but was a bit frustrating. All in all — delicious food! I will be back.

Went here around 4pm on a Saturday — it was mostly quiet, so we got seated right away. Service was very prompt, and the pizzas we tried off the lunch menu were great(pineapple and jalapeño and meatball and basil). Would definitely return to try the dinner options, and while I liked the food, I think the prices were a little steep for the portions.

I have a soft spot for pizza joints that serve creative personal pies with doughy crusts. If you’re not in the mood for traditional triangular New York cheese pizza and want something more unique(and delicious, in my opinion), Milkflower is the perfect spot for you. With its wine-bar-like atmosphere and quick-as-ever service, the overall experience at this Astoria restaurant is perfect from beginning to end. Everything I’ve tried so far has been delicious, from the plain pizzas to the white ones with honey to the red onion and scallion topped ones. Try it out and you will not be disappointed.

The string bean persimon feta cheese salad is definetely a must! The meatballs are great as well and the basic pie of pizza«the queen» is delicious.

Walked into Milkflower with my wife around 6:30 on a Saturday night, and the house was about 80% full. There was one party of four ahead of us, so we stood patiently for about 10 minutes, while trying to make eye contact with anyone who might seat us. I’m sure some of the servers saw us and averted their eyes, and no one was ever working the door or seemed to be in charge of the floor. Then, another couple came behind us, they flagged an employee down who sat them immediately without even checking to see if someone helped us. We were so taken aback we just turned around an high tailed it back home where we ordered some Sac’s and probably saved ourselves $ 100 in the process. Whoever is managing this establishment is incompetent and possibly racist. Definitely a place to avoid.

4.5 stars for the service — attentive, yet respectful. 3 stars for the food — not entirely unique or that impressive, but still very very good. I’m a huge fan of brick oven pizza but this tasted a bit different — crust was more burnt than usual. I love that they’ve got personal sized pizzas too — comes with 6 [smaller] slices but still was able to fill me up without feeling like a complete fatty.

I’m sorry, maybe we just had the backup cook for the night, but the pizza was very bland. My friend and I got the egg/brussel sprouts one and the pork sausage one. Both upon first bite felt like they were bland and missing a layer to bring it all together. Not enough meat. Not enough tomato sauce. No spice. It was terrible. I’m sorry. The octopus was excellent, but I am judging this place on its signature pizza, which left a lot to be desired. I can honestly say that the local dollar pizza you find in Manhattan is far more satisfying. If you want to waste $ 60 like I did, be my guest.

We liked this place. Good pizza and good service, the atmosphere is really nice. We asked for burrata and two pizzas. Everything was very good. A little bit crowed but nothing crazy. We’ll be back.

My favorite dinner date spot in Astoria. I have absolutely no complaints about this place. The meatballs, the pizza, the service. All of it is on point. I love the outdoor space in the summer and how warm and cozy the inside gets during the winter. I also enjoy the smell the minute you walk through the door. Garlic or truffle oil(van dammer lovers). LOVING the new pasta dishes. I’ve actually gone back for the second time this week to try another pasta before the seasonal menu changes. The lemony, citrus pasta, my husband being very skeptical about, was delicious. The more you ate the more developed the flavors got. Compliments to the chef and attentive staff… I’ll see you guys next week :)

Delicious artisan pizza in an unpretentious location! Milkflower brightens up 30th Avenue by attracting foodies who are looking to make it a namestake in Astoria. It’s menu of carefully crafted, wood-fired pizzas make Milkflower a nouveau restaurant for the Astoria scene. The restaurant itself is complete with both community and individual tables. The only thing is it can get a bit hot in the restaurant during the summer because of the huge girth of the pizza oven. A little pricey as well for pizza, but cheaper than Antika which is just a few blocks away. I highly recommend taking yourself and some guests to Milkflower in the near future!

I came here for an early dinner. Ordered the meatballs and string beans to start, followed by two 12″ pies. The meatballs were good. The meatballs are made with beef and pork. It melted in yiur mouth; however, it was a tad salty. The strings beans were crunchy. The dressing wasn’t bad, but I wasn’t a fan of it. For the pies, we ordered the Van Dammer and Spicy Soppresatta. Both were good and the crust was very fresh. The servers were attentive, then again we were the only ones there at that time. The issue I have is that the food is slightly over priced for what we got.

I visited this place once and thought about it until I finally followed through to going again. And it didn’t disappoint. It really is delicious and I’m happy it’s in my hood. Each visit we ordered the Spicy Sopressata. You should too. So many of the other pizzas sound awesome, but this one really rocks my socks. Meatballs you say? Delish. The shishito peppers? Pft, only the most perfectly charred shishito peppers that you will ever lay your sweet little eyes on. I didn’t want to eat them they were so pretty! And the portion size is bountiful! Ambiance is cool. Price is good. Service is better. Mmm, pizza.

Man, I’m going to start this review off with all the bad parts… . … … … … … … . . Yep, that pretty much sums up the bad. Now for the good… I had been wanting to come here for some time and since 2 months ago I moved ridiculously close by, now was a good a time as ever. Milkflower prides themselves on being a «Hip, rustic choice for gourmet wood-fired pizzas, Italian small plates, salads & craft beers» and they certainly live up to their description. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night. It wasn’t terribly crowded, but they were definitely busy. After about a 5 minute wait or so, we were seated at a table for 2 close to their outdoor dining area. It was muggy and humid out so we asked to be seated indoors where their AC was top notch. Upon reviewing the menu we both had some difficulty deciding on what to order. As an appetizer we pretty much wanted 3 of everything, but when our waiter suggested we get their meatballs we decided to go for that. Their meatballs are served with roasted garlic, a homemade tomato sauce, grand padding(one of the most popular cheeses in Italia according to the Googles) and basil. They were meaty, moist, juicy, well seasoned, extremely flavorful and all sorts of other positive and redundant adjectives that one can use to describe delicious balls of meat. This small plate was also accompanied by warm crostinis which I ate with the whole roasted garlic cloves… they tasted like butter… sweet, sweet, garlic butter. I love when garlic cloves just melt in your mouth {3. For our entrees, my boyfriend went with their«Queens» pizza which has tomato, mozzarella, basil, parmigiano and tomato sauce. I went with their Van Dammer which came with mozzarella, egg, brussels sprout, cracked black pepper and truffle oil… I asked them to hold off on the brussels sprouts because — gross, lol. They had no problem with this and didn’t make me feel like an alien for not liking those stupid sprout things. Both of our pizzas were generously sized(ie. humongous) and delicious. Thin, crispy crust with good flavor and delicious toppings. We each had a slice of each other’s pizza and we were both impressed by the freshness and yumminess. Our toppings both much have been kind of heavy for the crust as it began to get a little soggy towards the center of our pizzas, but it happens and mine had runny egg juice mixing with truffle oil all over it… mmmmm…so yeah, that happens. The boy was able to pack that pizza away, but I had to save 3 of my slices(and one of his that he had given me) of it and take it to go. It made a fan-freakin-tastic lunch the next day after I nuked it and threw some hot sauce on it. Service, ambience, food and menu — Milkflower has it going on and if you decide to check this place out, I’m confident that you’ll have a fantastic dining experience. 5 stars and nothing less.

Popped myself in here to pick up some to-go pizza for my boyfriend and I. Brick oven pizza is my favorite type, and since I don’t live in Manhattan anymore, I was definitely on the prowl for a new go-to place. This place rocks. I ordered the Abe Forman(sausage and the works) and the Queens(your classic margherita pizza) and both were freshly made and ready to go for me in 15 mins. Looking around, the décor was pretty cool and their backyard area was large. When I got home, the pizza was still warm and still freaking delicious. Tasted fresh, and even after the trek home, the crusts were still crispy. So delicious that even my cat tried to get in on it, and she doesn’t even eat pizza. New pizza place, will definitely come here for a sit down meal some time soon!

The pizzas here are really flavorful and the wood fired oven gives a nice touch to their dishes. The Wood Fired Prawns($ 12) was delicious and favors enhanced by the wood oven. However, don’t say PrawnS on the menu when you get just one single prawn!(Nice try by cutting it in half. Still misleading.) The pizzas that we decided on this time was the Abe Froman($ 15), and the Corn On The Hog($ 16). The pizzas had a good bubbly crust and nice chew to it. The Abe Froman was your typical sausage pizza but the standout was the Corn on the Hog. It really had a nice texture and the goat cheese worked really well with the guanciale(pork cheek bacon) with a crisp topping of young pea leaves. A minus here is that they take a very long time to come out with the food. If you get a starter, it’s even longer in between to wait. Regretted our two bite starter when we had to wait another 15 minutes after they cleared our plates and seeing people who came in after us, happily eating. They have wine and bottles of beer offered although they are often out of some of the more specialty beers they get. Prices are a bit high for the quality/size but still decent addition to the neighborhood.

I think Milkflower has changed. We came here about a year ago: thin crust, delicious, fresh and you can taste the toppings on the pizza. As a party of 3, we consumed 2 small plates and 4 pies. This place was a bit too pricey for my liking(you do get what you pay for) but instead of heading all the way to BK for Roberta’s(that is around the same $$ for similar style of pizza), I rather come here. We revisited Milkflower with fond memories recently and I was kind of disappointed. While service is still good, the the portions have diminished. Our octopus small plate came with one single small-medium sized arm, this for $ 15 in Astoria can be awkward. You can find octopus small dish/appetizers in the area for around the same that comes with double or thrice the amount served. My palate is not refined enough to pick wood roasted over gas grilled. Now the pizza, the crust continues to be good. This time they are quite stingy with toppings and the flavors were merely present. Our cherrystone clam pie was«memorable» because the fresno chili provided a kick. The pie’s border crust rim were also wider than what I remembered and compared to all the older Unilocal food pictures. Meh. For $ 17, I expected more on this 12″ pizza.

My first time here and it won’t certainly be my last. We ordered a bottle of white wine and two pizzas. Spicy Sopressata Brussels Sprouts with Truffles Both were amazing!!! I usually favor the spicy Sopressata but I really loved the Brussels sprouts wow! A very close comparison to Motorino but flavours are different! Bravo to a delicious Neapolitan style place. I want to come back here for brunch!!! Soon

I’ve had this type of ‘fancy’ ‘wood-fired’ pizza a few times now and have been kind of disappointed by it. I avoided Milkflower for while because of all the hype but now that I’ve been I can say for certain that it’s definitely worth a visit. We walked in for a Sunday brunch and we got the Abe Froman(for the meat) and the lady got the Arugula. I was getting ready to not like it, with the price of the pizza being a little higher than I wanted. My tune changed quickly though when the pizza came. I imagined that the Froman-would have a scattering of meat under the guise of ‘gourmet’ but I was pleasantly surprised. The pizza had a good balance of sausage with the other topics and definitely not on the skimpy side of topping placement. The arugula was also a good choice which had a little bitterness and crispness of the slightly uncooked arugula and the speck provided a nice counterpoint to it. Probably the best ‘fancy’ pizza place I’ve been to so far.
