You just cant go wrong with fried dough, topped with melty cheese and sour cream… not for the healthy conscious but if you love crispy fried dough? This is for you. Eat it fresh and hot to truly enjoy the crispness but i still enjoyed mine even after a short walk to a nearby public space so I could sit and enjoy it.

I tried the chicken paprikash with mustard spaetzle/dumplings. When I got to my office and opened it, it turned out the spaetzle/dumplings was seemingly(I’ll bet barilla) tri-colored rotini. When you’re looking for(and paying $ 11 for) spaetzle/dumplings, opening the container and seeing pasta instead is a real let down. The chicken(two drumsticks) and sauce tasted good though, and the beets/slaw were fine as well. But the pasta swap was a deal breaker.

Amazing! I’ve had Langos in Hungary and this is as authentic as you can get in the U.S. Great twists on the traditional Langos. I love the traditional with spicy peppers on top. Nutella sounds amazing, the bread by itself is so tasty as well. Imagine funnel cake batter but 10x better

I was going to post a picture of what I ate… But then I finished it. I, like many other people here, had never had a langos before. Let’s just say I like trying new stuff, and for this I am happy I did! I had a langos($ 6) with the salami added(additional $ 3) but definitely think it was worth it. I’ll have to try one of the plain ones next time I see the truck around, but this mildly spicy salami was the perfect addition to the«pie». Like a few other people said, it’s a tad pricy if you actually think about what the raw ingredients are that you’re eating, which is why I took off a star. Regardless of the price, I’ll still buy another one soon and probably finish it as quickly as I just did this one! I actually came here once a while ago and had the fish and chips not realizing that this truck was a «langos» truck… The fish and chips was good too(if you’re in the mood for it like I was!)

Damn good. Next time I’ll be getting two langos just plain, no toppings. Best fried dough I’ve ever had I must know their secret. It was like savory carnival funnel cake but better. Delicious. Got a small order of fries, too. Dipping cream they came with was interesting and good(mayo mixed with something). They needed a bit more salt but they were huge in size so I was happy. The guy said they park on 30th Ave &31st St every Thurs night 5 — 9 pm

I’d never even heard of lángos before, so when I saw this truck while looking for a quick meal en route to a bar, I couldn’t resist. Based on this experience, I’ve determined the most important part of the lángos is the bread, which is made fresh(as in, I watched them prep and shape the dough) when you order, then deep fried. So delicious! Because I was hungry I got what was probably the least traditional/Hungarian option with pork, cheddar, jalapeños, and sriracha. The menu made the ham sound like it would be quality meat but it was really just cubes of ham, so that was a little disappointing. Otherwise it was very much what you’d expect from a good street bite — comforting, solid stomach base for drinking. Because the bread itself is so yum and I think this is traditionally a snack food anyway, I would recommend trying the classic with garlic and sour cream as a snack to share(or not) instead of the heftier options for a dinner or lunch. Only real negative is that the wait is pretty long because they make the bread fresh — 10 full minutes from order placement to completion.

Over priced!!! It’s dough, garlic, and cheese. Nothing special… I could have spent 6 dollars on a way better and healthier meal!!! Disappointed:(

Like a flattened zeppole with a choice of sweet or savory toppings. Had the nutella and banana langos which made me think of Coney Island for some reason. Very good. The butternut squash and broccoli soup was bland and had too much cream or whatever dairy product was in there.

WTF is a langos you ask? I asked the same thing. Boy am I glad I did because it’s unlike anything I’ve ever had before, and I’d say the same of you, unless you’ve had langos. Now when I say it’s unlike anything I’ve ever had before, I am lying, kind of. Every continent, country, region and culture around the world does their own version of fried dough. No matter where you travel, you will be able to find some version of it. Why? Because it’s delicious, easy to make and cheap as hell. Did I mention that it’s delicious? Well, langos is the Hungarian version. It’s kind of like pizza in that it is an edible plate. A vehicle sturdy enough to support delicious toppings from hand to mouth. Except here there’s no tomato sauce. The traditional version just has a garlic sour cream sauce topped with delicious shredded cheese. The dough is fried to order so it comes out crispy on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside with a tad of sweetness. The cheese was only slightly melted thanks to the hot dough but that didn’t seem to matter. It was creamy, salty and heaven sent. I opted for some Hungarian salami on top that was smoky and fatty and kind of tasted and looked like chorizo. Good call, me. We also wanted to order the Korozott but they didn’t seem to have the ingredients for that so we ordered the special of the day which was topped with ham, leeks, sliced cornichons and had a sheeps milk cheese. Very different but the flavors all worked very well together. I would definitely order this one again. Hopefully next time I can try the Korozott. The langos truck was a deliciously refreshing break from the typical food vendors. I am always looking for something that makes my taste buds question what they are experiencing. It means that I’m trying something new and different and that’s exactly what happened here. If these langos are good enough for real Hungarian’s than they are certainly good enough for me. I’ll be back.

Since I left Hungary(14 years)… I’ve been dreaming about this childhood deliciousness I grow up on eating on summer vacations. I tried to replicate it home with no real success. I was glad to learn about the truck on Facebook and then I stalked it for weeks until it finally came to the area I live. It is just like at home… delicious, fluffy, crunchy and unforgettable. Now, I follow them and pop in for one standing and three to take home. Not cheap in these amounts, but truly original.

These were some reasonably priced street snacks picked up from the Langos truck right outside of the 14th St Trader Joes. A Lángos is a Hungarian food speciality, a deep fried flat bread made of a dough with flour, yeast, salt and water. Think of it like a pizza without the sauce on a light and fluffy, yet crisp on the outside dough. We tried 2 of the reasonably priced Lángos. The first was the traditional: only sour cream, shredded unmelted cheese on top and garlic. I think this ran $ 6 and was pretty tasty. The sour cream is not a taste you expect from eating something shaped like a pizza, but it was good. Server cold on top of the warm bread. The second one was the Tzatziki flavor and as you would expect, it has tzatziki sauce, tomatoes, onions, garlic and dill. The tzatziki was $ 7 and tasty, though I probably should have ordered it with some meat added on. Each Lángos seemed to be fresh cooked as they took about 5 minutes to prepare each one. If they had pre-fried dough it would have been assembled in seconds. The truck owner was nice, but pushed a ton(like 5) of business cards on me hoping I would friend him on facebook and twitter, and asked if I would pass them out to friends. Uh… no thank you.

6 bucks for an oval shaped fried dough with a sprinkling of mozzarella and cottage cheese. Save your money and get chicken over rice or tacos for a more better meal.

Yum! Nothing short of delicious. The ‘traditional’ is the way to go for your first venture. After that try the rest(if you’d like… I’m just fine with the traditional). The tzatziki was good… but a little salty with the added sprinkle of pink Himalayan salt(fun to watch, but just not needed). And how bad could chocolate be?(although at that point it seems more like a Québécois ‘Beaver Tail’…which isn’t necessarily a bad thing) A single langos makes a heavy snack or light meal for one and could be split as a light snack for 2. or 3… or 4 if you just want a taste. Service is friendly and efficient.

I’m a foodie and have traveled around the world quite a bit trying all sorts of cuisine and speciality meals — I’ve had Langos before in Budapest at the Central Market and I was pleased to find a langos truck on the streets of New York. The dough is perfect, the truck guys are nice and eager to make the customer happy. I really enjoyed my 5 minute journey back to Hungary and will follow them on Facebook to find some more Langos down the line.

I’m not Hungarian. I don’t know from langos. I don’t know where the accent mark goes. I had never heard of langos before today.(We literally crossed the street just because we couldn’t figure out what the truck sign SAID, and were curious. I thought I had to be reading it wrong because«langos» isn’t a word, right?) But I do love my food and this was some good food. I can’t speak to authenticity but I do know I want another one right now. We split one between two people and I ate 2/3s of it(my husband is longsuffering and generous) and I’m sitting here at home 2 hours later wishing I’d ordered a second because I can’t stop thinking about it. If only I’d known. We got the traditional one with sour cream, cheese, and garlic, because Zsolt said it was the best one to start with. It was freshly-fried(worth the 5 minute wait), fluffy puffy on the edges like a good frybread, and cheesy tasty good(though i wonder what it would have been like if the cheese had melted?). Gent in front of us got the tzatziki with yogurt and olives, which also looked amazing. I cannot wait to try the korozot, which apparently has sheep’s milk cheese, paprika, and cumin. Stalking the truck on Twitter starting… NOW.

This is probably the only place where you can buy real lángos in the city. Trust me, I was hunting for one, because I’m a lángos addicted Hungarian. Zsolt has a lot of creative variations, but you also have to try the traditional one with sour cream, cheese and garlic. The truck is new and they often change locations, so check out where are they on their Facebook page:

YES! YES! YES! I spotted the truck while waiting in line for the pop-up Cat Café in the Bowery this morning. I tried to track the location and the hours online without success, however, on my first call the owner Zsolt picked up and offered to wait for me before he closed down business for the day in Soho. ITWASWORTHTHETRIP! Zsolt’s lángos is light, crispy, and delicious! He made the best use of the ingredients available in the US. Hungarian sour cream and«smoked _trappista_cheese» usually used for the lángos have a rather distinctive taste that he managed to get as close to as possible for now. I am quite sure as time goes on and the truck gets more and more popular(it has been on the curbs for only a week as of today), we will see the taste further developing. Zsolt is a very nice guy and very excited about the truck. Hungarians of NYC, please go and find him and non-hungarians TRYTHELÁNGOSTODAY!!!

Magyarok! Ez az igazi! Fried dough! Keep reading… I am Hungarian — and a foodie — so I consider myself qualified to give you an honest review. First let’s talk about what langos is. Its a yeast based dough that is shaped into a disk about the size of a personal pizza(varies, but in this case about 10in) and then deep fried. You get light, chewy, slightly crispy. It is traditionally topped with a garlic paste and/or sour cream and cheese. Personally I like it simple with just loads of garlic but the dough is neutral so you can really put whatever you want on it. So now that you know whats going on… here’s the review ;) I had the: Traditional — garlic, sour cream, cheese. Absolutely authentic! The guy who started this truck joked and said he saves you the airfare to Hungary. All jokes aside, its just like home! Tzatziki — yogurt cucumber sauce, tomatoes, kalmata olives. In general I’m a huge fan of fusion foods… I liked this a lot actually. Its a Greek spin on traditional Hungarian. Next time I plan on trying the körözöt langos. This is a creamy cheese based spread seasoned with Hungarian paprika. These are only good fresh. He fries the dough to order. Bottom line: you gotta try one!(Heads up. they are filling)
