What a treat to come here this summer. Good food. Great service. Amazing location. Beautiful view right out on the water, and the warm breeze was perfect. They were serving strawberry horchata that day, which was a revelation. So fantastic. Our group ordered a bunch of different things to share — tacos, tortas, and others. Our server was very nice and accommodating, we liked her. Liked the carnitas. Al pastor wasn’t my favorite. Wasn’t bad, but it didn’t stand out among the other items. La Cabana de Raya is a great spot — I can imagine the view at sunset is pretty special, too. Worth a look, hope you have a great experience, too!

Best god damn burrito in all of Astoria! Not only burritos but the whole dang menu. Great food and I am an addict! The view of Youngs Bay is also a bonus! The best part of the nice quaint restaurant is… it has Happy Hour!!!

Wow! The gordita was to die for! And that guacamole, ooh joy! To think I was staying in the rv resort a few blocks away for the past three weeks and passed this place by day after day… I had the chicken gordita and a pulled pork taco and the guacamole and chips as the appetizer. All items were completely homemade and utterly delicious. The guacamole was a good sized serving and exactly how I make it at home. The guacamole includes house made chips which are a little crunchier than store bought but I love them like that. If you are craving good Mexican food, this is the place for tacos and gorditas and guacamole. I will be back for more before I leave town! Yum!

Been coming here pretty much since day one. Awesome service and excellent food. I personally love the chicken enchiladas! I also know of the family, very nice people. Also if you want to sit outside on a nice warm day, they have some outside seating.

I have been on Unilocal for many years and hardly ever write reviews of any sort. However, this place is hands down and by far the absolutely best Mexican Restaurant I have ever eaten at. Very simple atmosphere with some wonderful views of the bay. I had the Nachos and I have never seen Nachos look like a piece of art but these did. All fresh ingredients and the absolute best I have ever had. I have traveled and lived all over the world and never had any Mexican Food remotely close to how good it was. This is a family owned and operated place. The food here is better than a vast majority of 5 star high end restaurants. Definitely will return.

I love their classic burritos. So big and tasty. I always have a food baby afterwards. Then I need a nap. Excellent food, friendly staff. Love this place so much.

The only reason I gave this place 4 stars is because I think they could have turned the heater on. No-one here took their jackets off! Lol However, the enchiladas and rice and beans were terrific! And the margaritas were better than I’ve had in a long time! The view is nice and the service was impeccable. You’ve got to come here and sit at Lily’s section. This girl rocks!

We stopped on a whim, noticed it was Happy Hour with $ 1.50 tacos. Ordered two chicken and two steak, and two Margaritas. The tacos were served on a coffee saucer size plate. In all its glory, a tortilla, few chicken pieces, diced white onion and a sprinkle of cilantro. The steak came diced, and also had the same ingredients. The chicken was very seasoned, I added green sauce and I was happy, hubby was happy. We went awry when we ordered another very overly sweet Margarhita and hubby decided to order enchiladas 5 to a plate for $ 11-plus extra $$ for steak. This is where stars begin to fall. To me the sauce lacked depth, just rather bland, but hubby ate it all. Service was blasé, we were the only people in here at 2:30, and I felt the server would rather be outside on the deck– which she was. Our bill came to $ 51… For that price I could have bought a bottle of tequila and a variety pack of drive– thru tacos. Which is exactly what hubby says we will do, and dine al fresco at home…

Going between 3 and 4 stars. I really want to give it the four, but the reviewer in me just can’t. Honest assessment is 3 stars. My son loves this place. He’s in the Air National Guard and spends a lot of time up here. He’s tried just about everything in Seaside, Gearhart and Astoria. When he threw out Mexican for dinner and we said, «Sure» he immediately said, «I know this great little place!» So no time to Unilocal it. We loaded up in his Jeep and made our way to Astoria and this little«hole in the wall» at the end of a bridge overlooking the bay. In all honesty, I was shocked when he pulled in here… and then on second thought, maybe not. My son is 25 now. Been on a few deployments. Seen the world. He knows not to judge a book by it’s cover. He also enjoys good food and has developed a taste for the finer eats in life. Walked in on a Friday night around 6 and had immediate seating. I spied a horchata machine and confirmed they had the prized beverage of choice for me. I love horchata! Only a few people in the restaurant. We got a good sized booth in back. Sank down into a well worn bench and awaited the customary chips & salsa. No complimentary chips and salsa? Reading Unilocal reviews after the fact, guess that’s the norm here. Hmmmm. Gotta deduct a star on that one. Our hostess /server who was one & the same was all smiles and attentive at first. But with no more than three tables of diners to attend to, I can’t say the service was stellar. In fact, we literally had to go up and ask for more water later in our meal when my attempts to flag her down doing seated jumping jacks failed to get her attention. Still, she took our orders: Son had enchiladas. Daughter a chicken burrito. Wife opted for flautas and I had The Trio. My son also insisted on some guacamole & chips while I had to try the ceviche. Oh… and let’s not forget the horchata! Guac & chips along with my wife’s Pacifico & my horchata arrived in a timely fashion. The Guac did not disappoint. It was VERY fresh and very good. We devoured it. Interesting chips though… not bad. Just very thick and borderline stale. Lotta crunch! Dinners arrived. Everything looked fantastic with my wife’s flautas & son’s enchiladas looking the best. Daughter’s burrito was huge and looked like… well…a giant burrito. Can’t get too exciting on that. My Trio looked good but compared to the other dishes they looked lonely. My ceviche tostada came late… after a gentle reminder that it was missing. Son devoured the enchiladas and said they were great. Daughter ate half her burrito and was stuffed. She said it was good. My wife nibbled at her flautas and said they were«good» but I know her better. It was a good more like she WANTS them to be better than they are. They were kinda dry. Over cooked. She wouldn’t get them again. I had the pulled pork on my trio and thought the taco was best. Then the gordita and finally the sopa. They were good. But I’d get all tacos if given the choice again. I’d also like to try their chorizo or carne asada. The ceviche was definitely a disappointment. I suffer from eating things to be nice and this was no exception. I think it had cooked a little too long and was kinda mushy… to say the least. I offered bites all around and my daughter refused. Wife turned up her nose and son said he was too full. I made a noble effort to eat most of it but in the end, it was pretty blah! Initially, I didn’t think the bill was that bad. I see other reviewers think it’s a little pricey. Upon reflection, maybe they are right in their assessment. It is a hole in the wall. Great view. Lackluster service. Decent food. No complimentary chips… yeah, I go with 3 stars.

This is the best Mexican restaurant I have been to on the northern Oregon coast or the southern Washington coast. Very solid homemade-style Mexican food, great view, friendly efficient service, and a wonderful view of Young’s Bay, and the price was very moderate. The guacamole was perfect. I loved the petrale sole seviche and chips, The pollo marinado taco with green salsa was very nice. It is worth finding in it a bit out of the way location.

Hands down the best Mexican food in town, and at excellent prices. Can’t decide? Get the trio plate. Some of the best carnitas I’ve had outside the Southwest, and you can’t beat the view.

This place has potential but lacks overall quality. Portions are small for your typical Mexican restaurant. Prices are high… no free chips! That’s a new one… Food is bland, and overcooked… dried out meats, like they’ve been reheated. Not fresh. Service is hit n miss… it depends on who’s working and how many people are eating there. Not the best in town, in my opinion. Run down exterior and interior is old and dirty. Such a shame for a great location.

Unilocal brought us here during our stay in Astoria. 5 stars for the location on the water. The exterior looks a bit run down but we learned a long time ago you cannot judge the interior by the exterior, especially in the world of Mexican eateries. First the things I liked: The guacamole and hearty chips were superb. Chips and salsa are extra here. No freebies. My partner enjoyed her nachos and loved the red hot sauce. The view was fabulous. The things I didn’t like that much: Prices are high for what it is and what you get. There was an odor in the restaurant that may have been cleaning liquid. Not sure. But I didn’t like smelling it during my meal. When we first came in, our server cleaned our table and just swept all the food bits onto the floor. Yikes. Don’t think that’s a good thing to do in regards to cleanliness. I think: What’s happening in the kitchen? When my cheese enchiladas arrived, they were lukewarm. A disappointing thing to happen with your Mexican food. I tried to get my server’s attention but she was scrubbing down a door. Again, I don’t think servers handling food and drink should be involved with cleaning the restaurant. Just MHO.

Best Mexican food in Astoria! I moved here not but a few months ago and was craving a good plate of Mexican food but Astoria proper seems to have no idea what they are doing when handling a tortilla. This place on the other hand is wonderful, a laid back atmosphere and large homemade portions of delicious traditional Mexican food. You’d never know it’s the best place to eat just driving by, it looks shabby from the outside, but inside you’ll find a warm atmosphere, friendly waitresses and delicious food that us worth every penny. Thus is the ONLY Mexican restaurant i recommend in the Astoria area!

Positives: Small but varied menu, everything made in house, guacamole(I personally don’t like the stuff and even I found it amazing), portions are huge, amazing location, first rate tailoring of orders. Negatives: Prices are what you expect when you’re on the water with a killer view(even though the restaurant is very unassuming) in other words, a little high, service is more like a diner than a restaurant(food came out one at a time not all at once. Verdict: A wonderful place to visit, and a new favorite when we go to the coast. We wound up here because the first place we thought to go was literally wall-to-wall. Driving over the bridge South of Astoria on 101 was cool, the fact the parking lot was pretty full at 2:30 in the afternoon was interesting. Very unassuming looking place, even more so once you get into the facility itself. Very rustic. They have those little dolls on all the tables which are somehow both charming and a little off-putting. The menu is small, but varied. We had two finicky eaters(one vegetarian, one who only eats chicken) and me who will probably eat anything slower than myself. I got the nachos with Tinga and they were a delight. I asked for extra jalapeño and they drowned the things in the spicy peppers. It was wonderful. I will upload a picture later. The Boi got chicken enchilada — which was literally a platter full of enchiladas. The Lady got chili relleno and she was delighted. They wanted chips(not a free item) and the Lady wanted guacamole — not my thing, but this was fresh made(with the pit on top) and even I had to admit it was amazing.

Solid homemade Mexican food. I liken it to excellent taco truck food and I love taco trucks. The menu is simple and relatively cheap compared to the other Mexican restaurants in town. Food has always been fresh and the service is always friendly. It is good to see a local family making it as the place is always busy despite its odd location. My favorite dish is the smothered burrito w/pollo marinado(sp?). Basically a small dog size burrito covered in cheese and enchilada sauce. The ambiance leaves a little to be desired but that is the only fault I can find in this place. Check it out.

Used to get take out burritos all of the time from here. Burned out a wee bit, but after a few months got hungry again for it and met some friends to dine in. Prices have gone up quite a bit and their menu has been trimmed down by a few items. Food was still very fresh and flavourful, but my burrito(the famous Tinga that used to be food porn for me, has lost it’s edge.) No free chips and salsa, but you can get an order as an appetizer. Nothing to write home about.(.pre-made chips). Salsa Fresca was decent, though I prefer more of a sauce to dip in rater than the chunky stuff. Waitress was dumb as a box of rocks. We constantly needed to remind her of everything. Polite, friendly, but just not that bright, nor quick. I didn’t recognize any of the former staff here, so I am not sure what happened. Pretty sure the same family owns the place, but tonight, everything was just off. It was a very lackluster reunion sadly. Hate to see places lose their edge, but it seems to be a rule here on the coast.
