I got a cake for my daughter’s sweet sixteen last week it was a red velvet cream cheese filling in the shape of the #16 I gotta thank marco and staff for such a great looking cake she was so happy and it was delicious also I highly recommend this place !!!

This place has taught me to eat BLTs. I’m the biggest mayo hater you could imagine but these were sent from heaven.

I have tried their pastries a couple of times and was never impressed. Bland and dry. Cute looking place but not worth the calories.

All of their homemade sandwiches are amazing. The Astoria is my favorite. The Nutella Latte was the perfect balance of coffee flavor mixed with Nutella, but not overwhelmingly.

What can you say about the bakery with the best cakes, cookies and croissants anywhere in Astoria? They’ve been my regular Sunday coffee and breakfast sandwich place for years now, and not just because they’re right around the corner either. The croissants are, in a word, perfection. Adding bacon, egg and cheese just makes things better.
The coffee here is really good and they are one of the few places open nearby when I am headed to work so that’s definitely a plus!
They also renovated the space a few months back and it’s beautiful — a great look that fits very well in the neighborhood.

Of the 7 bakeries I’ve tried in Astoria, this is easily the best.
Best cannoli, cupcakes, and rainbow cookies in the area. Everything else is good or great.
They have inexpensive breakfast sandwiches in the morning, and they make a very good, albeit too hot, soy latte. They don’t have flavored syrups, but you can ask for it with sugar and cinnamon. Presumably their other coffee items are similarly delicious, although I haven’t tried them.

Everyone who works here is really helpful. They wrote a personalized message on my cake with no extra charge, and the price was affordable. Will definitely return in the future.

I travel from westchester for Il Fornaio! Only place to go for the best baked goods and specialty cakes! It’s sooo worth the bridge trip. Marco Vicari is the owner and an absolute delight to work with when ordering specialty cakes! ENJOY!

Sooooo good! It’s not often that I like multiple treats from one bakery but so far this place is awesome! They have the best eclairs I have had, hands down. The Nutella cupcake was delicious as well as their red velvet cupcake which was not overly sweet (the icing wasn’t overbearing either). My only «issue» was with the dark chocolate covered strawberries– they were beautiful and festive (for Valentine’s Day) and the strawberries were large and not gross and mushy but the chocolate didn’t really have any taste. I appreciated that it wasn’t super sweet but it also didn’t taste like chocolate which was weird. Overall though, this might be my new favorite bakery! =]

I love this bakery. I ordered my parents 50^th wedding anniversary cake and it was spectacular. I provided a picture if what i wanted and the cake was even more beautiful than the picture. Also it tasted really good. Very pleased with the whole experience. I wont order cakes from anywhere else but this bakery from now on.

Best red velvet ever! Always liked their bread and coffee, but didn’t expect their red velvet to be so good. White frosting was perfect. Not too sugary and not too bitter.

They can literally turn a cake into anything. I’ve seen some of their cakes at friends/​family events and they’re all better than the next.
I wanted to get my fiancé a cake for his 30^th but not just a regular cake, I wanted it to be special. Since he is a proclaimed bbq’er I wanted a grill with edible meats (marzipan) and sure enough, they pulled it off.

We came here on Saturday during winter storm Jonas after I thought it was smart to go into Astoria for brunch. This review however is not about my questionable judgment, but about a little bakery that remained open despite everything going on.
I ordered the strawberry shortcake and my girlfriend ordered a napoleon at the recommendation of friends. They both were extremely delicious, and came wrapped in a little box that reminded me of old school bakeries. I felt like it was a really nice touch. The staff could have been a little more friendly, but under the circumstances I’d be pretty pissed that I was still at work too.
In short, I’d definitely come back.

Me and my girlfriend happened across this lovely little bakery just as it was about to close Saturday night. On a whim, we went inside and decided to order two slices of delicious chocolate cake-​with sweet Oreo toppings. Personally, I wish we had discovered Il Fornaio sooner, so we could have sampled more of their offerings, especially those tasty-​looking macaroons. We’ll definitely return in the near future.

I have been working in Astoria for about 5 yrs now and this bakery has been a hit or miss w/​their cakes in the past. They recently underwent a renovation and I must say that this was a great thing as I’ve been more in this bakery than ever before. The breakfast food is good and fresh and their Strawberry Shirt Cake is DELICIOUS!!! They are very friendly and have great customer service unfortunately I wish they had a few tables to make it even ore pleasant.

I stumbled upon this place on my determined walk to reward myself with a bubble tea. This place is super adorable on the outside and inside. The décor gives it a very inviting vibe. First of all the options are endless with the dessert choices. I wanted everything! But I was in the mood for a cupcake so there were quite a few unique looking ones. I asked the staff for the chocolate hazelnut ball one. It was made with a nutella frosting. It was super cremely light and delicious! The price was pretty average for desserts about 3.50 for the cupcake. But to me it was worth it because it is great to come across great new finds and creative flavors. The staff was friendly and nicely explained and showed me the different types of flavors they have.

For a bakery, their desserts are pretty meh: I’ve had cookies, cupcakes, muffins and other desserts here, and have found myself throwing them out because they haven’t been worth the extra calories to me. Their red velvet cupcake is the only one I have found to be a somewhat decent treat. That being said, I will add that they make very solid lunch and breakfast sandwiches. Their breakfast croissant with egg and cheese is heaven and their deli meat sandwiches are fresh and tasty; however, the price for a wedge is on the pricy side. So skip the sweets, but sit in their newly remodeled, very inviting space and have something savory.

Il Fornaio has been our go to bakery for quite some time now. Their pastries and cakes are delicious! I have had cakes/​cake pops/​cupcakes done for all my events here and they have come out absolutely beautiful!
From my bridal shower brunch cupcakes, bridal shower Italian pastries, rehearsal dinner cake, all of our birthday cakes and even my bachelorette party cake pops, all of which were fresh, delicious and super tasty! I can’t even begin to tell you how beautiful and delicious they made my surprise 30^th birthday cake! Owner is a doll… friendly and always making sure he gives you exactly what you want. Their baker knows what he’s doing. Keep doing your thing Fornaio! :)

Came in here to order my mother a birthday cake with an edible image and to say the least it was even more beautiful than I have asked. It was delicious and FRESH. Along with that I got a few other assortments that were also very good. I’m stunned to read any negative reviews after having such a wonderful experience. Overall the best bakery in astoria and super helpful staff!

wish to give them minus 10 «star». awful. it was amazing before. the red velvet cake, and the chocolate muse cake was like heaven. it was very light, and foamy, now, … disgusting!!! the cake is dry and dusty!!! look at the pictures!!!
who made these!!! unbelievable… taste like card board dry, and butter only. this is not mouse!!! this is a fake horrible card board … something… i can’t even find the words. the 7 layer cake is also extremely fake, and dry, and cheap!!! no more chocolate mouse, no more real butter cream, no more quality!!!

My boyfriend and I moved here about a year ago and we live maybe 2 mins away from this bakery. Decided to try it randomly just to get coffees and a few cookies to go. Now we’re hooked! Love the people that work here. Always so nice and starting to know us by name. Now we always get sandwiches from there or any kind of cake if we need it for a celebration. They’re always great :)

We ordered a birthday strawberry shortcake from here and it was wonderful! They were able to fill our order last minute and it was delicious and fresh!

This bakery is absolutely exquisite!!! The work done to these cakes is nothing less then art. Not only do they look absolutely phenomenal but they taste divine! I suggest this bakery over ANY let me repeat ANY bakery in the NYC area! The owner is very professional, polite and will blow you away with the work he delivers. And the best part is the prices are unbeatable! It’s a MUST try!!! Thank me later :)

Finally checked this place out. Really nice folk running the place, a great assortment of sweet treats, good espresso beverages, and they take card.
Really nice to know that they have fresh turkey & ham croissant sandwiches… though $ 6+ seemed a bit much for lunch meat and cheese on a croissant at this kind of venue.
Still, a big fan of this place. Try them out!
ps — they TECHNICALLY have outdoor seating, since there are benches at the park across the street ;-)

My go to bakery for freshly made pastries. Usually a few individual pastries are given as a lil bday gift to good friends. Reasonably priced for taste and freshness.

Peanut butter cupcake and fresh fruit tart are my faves. Never fails!

Excellent bakery, friendly counter service and many standout goodies. The two unique items that caught my eye, was the guava rugelach and the guava filled cheese strudel both sinful and delicious. This is a true old fashion bakery.

Don’t pay attention to the negative reviews. This is one of the best bakeries in Astoria. Im shocked the rating is so low! I just recently started going here after living nearby for over 2 years. The strawberry and chocolate muffins taste like happiness. The breads are also fresh and amazing as is everything else I’ve tasted. I’m working my way through the menu! :)

This place has a great selection of italian pastries, most of which are pretty tasty. My favorite are those cookie sandwiches dipped in chocolate and covered in sprinkles. The cannoli they offer are fresh filled on the spot, but very, very messy.
The biggest detractor to this place is that they never grab the pastries that I ask for! They put them in the bag behind the counter so twice I’ve gotten cookies that I didn’t order (but not the ones that I did! Next time, I’ll check first, but I wish I didn’t have to.
