First let me say that I am a fan of hard wax, especially for a Brazilian wax. It’s softer on my sensitive skin.
I’ve gotten about 3 – 4 Brazilian waxes, 2 – 3 underarm waxes and one full-​leg wax. The owner, Christina, speaks with you throughout the entire session to calm your nerves. I’ve never had painful swelling afterwards– I resume my day right away!
VERY CLEAN. Only uses sticks once and throws them away. Christina is very open with her ambitions and makes you feel like you should be doing more, haha! She’s great; once she found out I was a student she gave me a discount.
I highly recommend this business.

Clean, easy and painless wax. Yes, you may have to wait 5 – 10 minutes after your appointment time, but the wait is worth it. Isn’t a clean, painless Brazilian wax worth it?!

It was my first time getting a Brazilian wax and I did my homework… I went to the very best! Cristina was amazing… very professional and friendly. Definitely worth the trip into Astoria to see her! Ladies, don’t hesitate, she really is great and it was virtually painless!

First experience ever getting waxed, it was not as painful as I had imagine it’d be. Yes, some parts are more sensitive but once its off, its done. Christina is awesome, made me laugh and chat away to keep me from being nervous. Very sweet and professional, I’m definitely a fan of Brazilian Waxing now.

This was my first Brazilian wax since moving to NYC and by a beautiful Brazilian lady named Christina. I have had several waxes and must day this was the quickest, least painful and efficient wax I have ever had! Christina is perfect for my friends that have never had a wax. Her space is clean and private, located beneath a hair salon. Great experience!

First of all, I highly recommend this place, and now I will explain why. My body hair pretty thick and my skin is sensitive — not the best combo for hair removal techniques. I used to go to other places where they would use soft wax, often too hot, and, at the end of the day I would end up with damaged skin that needs at least 4 days of healing. About Elastic Wax Center, they use hard wax, which surprisingly does not hurt. It does not damage even my super thin and sensitive skin. Plus, they use a tea tree oil — good for many things and I just like the smell :) Second of all, the place is clean, really clean — I love it! Christina (the specialist) works in gloves and there is no double dipping. And the last but not least important thing for me is a customer service, Christina is amazing at communicating with people. Usually, I am pretty reserved person and do not interact with, for example, people at the nail salon or even a hairdresser. However, I really enjoy conversations with Christina. Every visit is such a pleasent experience. Bassically, I say «Yes!» to this salon! :)

I barely write reviews because I give businesses the benefit of doubt but what this business does is unacceptable. I’ve had to walk out of my appointment that I made online TWICE because I was sitting and waiting for an hour the first time and 45 minutes the second time. Why do you have an online scheduling if you never follow it?

Christina is the best! I found my go-​to lady for waxes! I don’t understand how people had bad experiences with her. reading that she’s racist to not being professional. I think its quite unfair. I remember when I was running late for my appointment (the first time i met her).she was more than happy to still receive me. She made me feel comfortable and distracted me by having conversations. She’s very friendly and cares to know how one is doing. I was scared at first to try her elastic wax but I found it to be less painful than satin wax! Give it a shot and you will also save yourself money than spending $ 75 somewhere else with cheap wax. Christina knows what she is doing… I’ve been seeing her since the beginning of this year! I don’t regret it not even one bit!

Got a Brazilian wax with Maria and it was fabulous. I was really worried before going & chose Elastic Wax Center based on reviews on Unilocal.The reviews were spot on. Maria made it as painless as it could be. It hurt way less than the last than the last time I got downtown taken care of. The wax they use doesn’t require any cloth strips for removal. It hardens & then whappppp. It’s off. I also liked how Maria kept the conversation going throughout the procedure. It really took my mind off what was happening and made the whole process easier. I’m not a local but I come to visit every so often & plan to return here when I do.

Just came from getting my 1^st Brazilian wax & what can say it was «GREAT». Yes a bit painful but Maria is the best in what she does. Maria is very professional & She made me feel so comfortable and relaxed that I totally forgot that I was getting a Brazilian wax done. If you haven’t done a Brazilian you need to come here & definitely see Maria and from what I heard from other past clients on Unilocal Cristina is great as well. So you can’t go wrong with this place at all love it love it.

Yup, the reviews are true. Christina is a master and I highly recommend seeing her. She takes her time, making sure you are comfortable. I’ve also been waxed by her associate Maria who is equally nice and gifted but she does do larger strips which I find to be more painful. EWC never uses the same sticks and they are top notch sanitary. Also — $ 45 for a full Brazilian is unheard of!

Yes! Believe all the reviews you read here. Christina is phenomenal. I’m usually skeptical about reviews, but these reviews lead me to the right place and in the right hands. Definitely will be going back.

I’ll start by saying I’m not new to the waxing scene. I’ve been getting Brazilian’s for quite some time, and I’m always on the lookout for places that are easier on my wallet while remaining top-​notch. This is absolutely one of those places.
I received my wax from Christina who did a fantastic job. Truly, the least painful wax I’ve experienced yet. I’m a huge fan of hard wax over strips, which this place utilizes. Christina also works in smaller sections instead of plastering and yanking big areas (which does happen, and hurts like hell). Super friendly, clean, and above all professional. With multiple services, and waxing shapes to choose from, I’m a fan. Organic materials, no double-​dipping, tranquil atmosphere: I will definitely be coming back here!

Believe all the reviews ! I’ve been going to Christina for a year and she is the most pleasant person I’ve ever met and makes you feel like you’re BFF’s while getting a wax! SUPER comfortable to be around and no awkwardness at all.
The wax she uses is also ahmazingggg and is the most painless wax I’ve ever experienced! There’s no strips, she uses wax that hardens and comes right off when cool!
If you’re debating if she’s worth the travel, cost, etc don’t worry I promise you won’t be disappointed ! Make the trip to Elastic Wax !

I just got home from my first Brazilian and leg waxing and I have to say, Im never going back to shaving! Christina did a fantastic job, she made me feel so at ease with her warm personality. She is just so friendly and professional, I can’t praise her enough!
The waxing itself barely hurt at all — again this was my first time and I’m able to say that! I don’t know if it was the elastic wax or her technique, probably a combination, but it was a great experience. Christina is very thorough and I walked out feeling like a princess. After a horrible, painful experience with my first brazilian wax, I have to admit I was very skeptical and hesitant to get it done again. But I am SO happy I decided to woman up and try it out at Elastic Wax Center. My experience with Christina was incredible! She made me feel so at ease. She is incredibly outgoing and down to earth. Her little space is always clean and has a great ambience. The elastic wax that she uses — amazing! I felt close to little or no pain at all. Christina is really passionate about her work and takes a lot of pride in what she does. I have gone to her two times already and each time I have always left happy without any complaints.
I will continue to keep getting my brazilian waxes done here at the Elastic Wax Center. If you’re having doubts, DONT! Just do it. Trust me, it is quite an experience you will be happy to have tried.
