Diner 21

This is the worst diner I have ever ordered from. Ordered eggs Benedict and fresh fruit waffle for my daughter. Let me tell you about the waffle… It was topped with old and rotten fruit and drenched in syrup. Also the whip cream was maybe ½ ounce and watery. My Benedict was 2 over cooked pouched eggs on white toast with the most disgusting bacon I had ever seen. Fries that were only half cooked. I could bring myself to even take a bite. I work in the restaurant business in Manhatten so I don’t normally write scathing reviews like this but it was just so bad I had to. Totally inedible. I thought I was getting linked for a second but when Aston couched didn’t walk in I realize this place just doesn’t know what their doing. I will never order from this diner again out of fear of what my order looked like today.

Ordered a grilled cheese the cheese wasn’t even melted and the bread was cold and nowhere grilled. Disgusting! Can only imagine what the rest of their food tastes like. Also was charged for bacon, that never arrived. Grand opening sign might be turning into out of business sign pretty soon.

I was hungry and needed to kill some time between shoots so I stopped in Diner 21 because it was near my next appointment. Sure glad I did. I wasn’t expecting much because of the décor and slightly disheveled atmosphere. So I was very pleasantly surprised by the hearty Mediterranean food presented to me. I had chicken that was moist and fell off the bone. The eggplant was spicy and rich. The vegetables in a sweet tomato sauce was a nice balance to the eggplant. All of this was served with a generous portion of basmati rice with green olives. This is the kind of place I wish I had in my neighborhood.

Delivery took an hour, which was a surprise since we do not live too far. The food was already cold. I do not recommend the pastrami baguette. There was no flavor of roasted garlic mayo. Overall, it didn’t taste like it was freshly prepared and just looked all smashed together. It kind of reminded me of school lunch.

I’ve never been here, so just a heads up that this review is specifically for delivery.
Last week my fiancé and I were hungry and it was pretty late in the night… we found Diner 21 via Seamless and decided to take a crack at it. He ordered a chili burger deluxe with a side of mashed potatoes (they’re his weakness) and I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with french fries.
The amount of chili on his burger was okay and his burger was a flat patty of meat, similar to a burger you would find at like McDonald’s or Burger King. Flavor was better, but we’ve both definitely gotten better burgers from diners before.
My grilled cheese sandwich was surprisingly a triple decker creation with a good amount of cheese, crunchy exterior and not overly greasy — I ate half and saved the rest for later along with my french fries. It was delicious and the cheddar cheese used was fantastic, melted and just what I needed.
Reasonably priced food for sure. Delivery time could have been faster as we don’t live too far away, but it was late and presumably we weren’t the only ones in Astoria with a case of the munchies. I would definitely order from here again or check it out in person next time I’m in the hood.

This place is a refrigerator I am thawing my toes at home now. I am not sure they like heat there. They had the door wide open and I asked them to close it but as someone walked in it ended up wide open again. Which would have been fine if it wasn’t the winter time. My food was eh and the service was okay like the girl was nice. But if you have a choice of a different «diner», I wouldn’t strongly suggest to go here unless you’re starving and can’t walk anywhere else.

The food were delicious, friendly staffs. Must try mahshi, macaroni, lamb tajine and kunefe. The tea is awesome, too.

A little gem close to my home. Love the food and love the people! My go-​to place when I’m not cooking :-)

Great food and amazing service! I will definitely be back again soon! I had the Harira soup and it was delicious. This place is a great new addition to Astoria.

The spaghetti and meatballs here are fantastic! Everyone around me seemed to really enjoy what they were eating as well. I’m eager to explore something new next time!
