Great new wine store in Astoria! The storefront can make this place be easily missed or dismissed, but this is a quality shop. The owner is so knowledgable about his wines and super friendly. The stuff he carries are all reasonably priced and of great value. Lots of lesser known/little name brands that are truly hidden gems. He even carries some interesting and quality liquor now that is again of great value for their price points.

Service — Great Ambiance — good Disclaimer: The owner is a personal friend. Fred(owner) is a wine aficionado and has worked in the industry for many years so I was really happy for him when he opened his own store. He knows wine and is really polite patient and helpful with costumers.

Easily the best place to shop for wine in Astoria. The owner’s knowledge is unparalleled, and he’s always happy to help. Hard to find this kind of value in NYC.

The owner is super friendly and knowledgable. The selection is very well curated, what else do you need in a liquor store. Furthermore, I’m sorry that the 1 star rating guy had a bad experience — but I’ve been there several times and the owner has never been anything but professional, friendly and courteous. Why would the guy who bought spoiled wine pour the contents out before trying to return it anyway? Seems like a rookie mistake — that’s like eating your whole plate of food then asking to send it back to the kitchen.

Great addition to the neighborhood and very much needed! I found a great little gem, Antxila Getariako Txakolina. This lightly carbonated wine is very crisp and fresh with a hint of citrus, mineral, and lemon zest — perfect for spring and summer. The owner hand picks his selections which makes it that more special.

Great addition to our neighborhood. With Vesta down the street and that new coffee shop across the way, I think we’re going to see that stretch of 30th blow up very soon. And this joint will be in on the ground floor. I chatted with the owner for a long time and found him to be super cool and knowledgeable. He worked for years in the NYC high end fine dining world so I think Astoria is lucky to have his skills. His selection is already impressive and will most likely grow as his business does. I’m a fan and proponent of nice interiors and lighting and this is the one missing as of now but hope that gets rolled into the businesses growth as well. Once that happens, I’ll rush to bump up my rating to 5 stars and would bet $ 1 his business doubles. If you’re like me and my wife, and not a huge fan of the service and selection of the store under the 30th subway stop, it’s worth a little extra walk to Cresent Wines. The dude runs circles around their costumer service.

Astoria’s newest wine shop is excellent! On my first visit, I chose not to ask questions and chose an $ 18 cab, which turned out to be amazing! A 2007 wine for $ 18 is unheard of. I also purchased a bottle of prosecco that was also a great value for under $ 10. I noticed as I was paying that everyone seemed to like the shop owner. A woman gave him a thumbs up as she walked by the shop window. On my second visit(two days later), I asked for advice on a wine I had selected. The owner, Fred was super friendly and informed me that he has tasted nearly every wine he carries. It’s nice to see a business owner who really cares about the wine. I’m a huge wine need myself so this is a huge plus for me. If you’re looking for great wine at prices that will surprise you, pay Fred a visit and he’ll make sure you get something great. If there’s a wine that you see at pretty much every wine shop, you won’t find it here. This is a store for real wine drinkers!

Don’t be fooled but the outside and un-fancy charm just basic look. Super convenient. The owner is really nice and is busting his butt with a new, small business. He’s very knowledgeable offers wine tastings. Looking forward to it being more«spruced up.» Good prices this will be our«got to spot .» Support local

Been here a couple of times now, I bought one of the wines that he was doing a tasting of, very nice cote de rhone, the other time I got a prosecco extra dry that wasn’t too dry and was just OK. I like that there aren’t a thousand options, keep it simple. Location could not be better since it’s a block away from me.

My girlfriend and I were returning home from Titan and decided to take Crescent Street for a change of scenery. We spotted this new wine store as we crossed 30th Avenue. We decided to pop in and we were pleased that we did. The owner was behind the counter, and offered us a taste of a delicious spanish blend from Bilbao. It was enjoyable and affordable — we picked up a bottle for around $ 14. In addition, he reccommended a riesling that was delicious and just what we’ve been seeking. On the whole, prices seem excellent, selection appears interesting, and on the evidence so far, the owner is knowledgable about what he sells. We hope this new business is successful.

I was initially excited to have a new wine store around the corner from our place and I had gone there several times and the owner seemed like a nice guy until today. I purchased a bottle of tempranillo a couple of days ago — I opened up the bottle last night and the wine was rancid. You can tell when the cork is rotted and the smell was awful. I poured the wine out and tried to return the bottle today to get another one. I even put the half rotted cork in the empty bottle. I went in to exchange the bottle but he told me he couldn’t exchange it because the bottle was not full. Without a full bottle he wouldn’t be able to get a refund from his distributor. I’m not sure why that was my problem. I told him to smell the bottle and look at the cork, clearly the wine the was bad and he even admitted that but wouldn’t allow me to exchange the bottle. He was completely rude and made me feel like crap. It was quite possibly the worst customer service I had received in a long time. I walked down the street and got a bottle at Grand Wine and Liquors. I was really hoping to support a small business in the area but will no longer support his business.

Sweet new Wine Shop just opened up on the West side of the NQ on 30th ave. No more dealing with Grand, which is nice. Dude seems super friendly and the wines seemed all small production and unknown label kinda stuff. Which I appreciate. I only have been in twice but both times have been nice. If you are in the area and are looking for a nice wine shop hop in. Good prices too!

Absolutely fantastic new place in Astoria! Really amazing selection of wines and a really good service. The owner is always there and when I went, I literally felt like I was in a wine class. I’m pretty sure that this place has a lot to show and will get better and better within time. Prices are incredible too, once I could find great bottles in the 15 – 20 dollars range. Thats the perfect store for wine lovers: go and be sure you will not buy bad and overpriced wine!

This new Astoria addition is fantastic! The owner has provided a great selection of super moderately priced wine and select spirits. He holds a daily wine tasting from 6 – 9 to try out his choice of the day. Great place to start learning appreciation of lots of different wines under 10, 15, 20, and 30 dollars!
