So my friend was the one who told me about this place. I don’t get pedicures often, well this is probably my 2nd time in my life… I was freaked out when one day a few years ago, I was watching the Tyra Show and the topic was horrors that happened to people from going to the nail salon. Some lady caught some nastiness from a pedicure all because the soaking tub was dirty. Eeeek. And I remember the first time getting a pedicure(it was before I saw that Tyra episode) the chick next to me had a layer of grease/dirt floating in her tub water…#washyourfeetmuch??? Sorry for that long story, anyhoo, I needed to get my toes done for a friend’s wedding back in Oct. I got it done on Thurs but I was worried if it was going to last until Sun, the day of my friend’s wedding.(friend’s wedding was in Ohio) When I walked it, it was pretty empty… Actually I think I may have been their first customer. The time was 11:30ish am. They helped me as soon as I walked in, the one lady told me to pick out a nail color and the 2nd lady was the one who did my pedicure. She went to work on my toes right away. I was kind of hoping to soak my feet in the warm water before she started, that part is relaxing to me. One part I was afraid of was the scraping of the feet but that never happened. She just used a neon green pumice stone. The whole pedicure probably lasted less that 20 mins, maybe? But the wait for my nails to dry took foreverrrrrrrr… understandable since it was chilly out and would have probably gotten some weird looks from people if they saw me walking around with flip-flops on… I waited like 40 mins…-__– But I guess better safe than sorry. Also I found it weird that the girl told me to wrap my feet in plastic sandwich bags(the ones without the zip-lock of course) before I put on my socks… do other places do this too??? Fast forward 2 weeks after and the nail polish never chipped off. It finally started chipping like 3 weeks in…

I have to admit I love my pampered expensive treatments at posh salons in the city, sometimes; I’m that type of girl. But then there are times when a girl can’t walk away from a great under $ 20 mani/pedi combo. And nail salons are the Starbucks of Astoria: They are everywhere. I discovered Blossum Nails because the closer nail salon once cut my toe nails so short they’re still reeling from the tragedy. The staff was very warm and welcoming as soon as I walked in.(no appointments needed) With a large assortment of Essie and OPI colours, my manicurists was very nice and helpful as she helped me pick out a colour letting me know which ones worked with my skin tone as well as the season. Blossum Nails is a rather small nail salon, with only 4 chairs but it is very clean, new and detailed. Everyone seemed friendly and helpful, but most of all they do a real good detailed job on the mani/pedi’s and finish up with the short neck and shoulder massage. What more do you really need?
