The thing is the food was great but our service was awful and it’s been 35 mins since we finished and we’re still waiting for a check so…

I seriously feel like this is one of those spots where you can order anything in the menu and it will be delicious ! Enjoyed an awesome Sunday Brunch here… Frappé’s are always a must when stopping by Avenue.

As usual my experience in this place was fabulous!!! We had to wait little bit for our seafood arugula salads which my friend loved too! But completely forgot that was brunch time. But you know what? Was worth waiting for my delicious food cause thats my favourite one in this place. And staff was great as always! Definitely will always come back.

Came earlier today for brunch with my girlfriend. So many brunch places we could’ve went to but we decided to check this out. I must say that the food was great and so was our server. Thumbs up

As much as I don’t want to write this review, I am going too. Came to have some lunch, as I passed by with my car I saw there was 4 empty tables in the back… I asked the hostess in the front who was busy talking with the waitress to be seated in the back… She tells me there’s no seats available. I told her there’s 4 empty tables… We proceeded to go and sit down …We were there for 15 waiting for menus or someone to acknowledge us… The staff was passing by as though we weren’t even there… Me and my boyfriend and many friends have been very loyal customers for a very long time… But today’s service was just plain ignorant

This place is in a great location and it’s great when you’re able to get a table outside(when it’s nice out). In my experience the food has been pretty good. However, the service/staff has often been pretty horrible. Below I’ll provide two examples: I was sitting inside with my cousin during one of the coldest days of the year. However, we kept noticing it was freezing as hell inside. Why? Because a waiter kept opening the side door(and holding it wide open for minutes at a time) to keep chatting with his friend outside! One day my friends and I were sitting outside – eating and drinking. After ordering our first round of drinks the waitress disappeared. For a long time. And the place wasn’t even very crowded. We were standing and waiving for the waitress to come back so we could order more drinks and she ignored us and leaned at the bar chatting with the bartender. She finally walked by asking if we were okay and we were like, «No, can we order more drinks?» and she just kept walking. Next thing you know she was leaning on the bar chatting with the bartender again! I was fed up and approached the bar to order our drinks from him and she almost had a heart attack because we didn’t order from her. The only time in the couple of hours we were there that she was actually attentive was when we were leaving – she ran over to make sure we tipped her. Very sad.

Having eaten here for brunch this past Sunday, I think we went wrong with actual breakfast items. Everyone else seemed to be ordering mainly coffee, drinks and salads. The sausage had an odd taste that we couldn’t place. The steak and eggs consisted of flank steak, which was tough and under-seasoned, so we sent it back. I asked for my eggs scrambled hard. In my mind, that meant no runny bits; in the chef’s mind, it meant burned bits and lots of crust. A dish that came with bacon only came with two strips, and most of the fat wasn’t rendered. The server was nice, but not that attentive. The chairs look like they’ve seen better days. I bet this place looks stunning at night, though. On the plus side, we enjoyed the coffee frappé, waffles and potatoes.

Great atmosphere. It is a very clean place. I have been here about 5 times but the last two, the service has been pathetic. Both servers were new or something, idk. Both times they were constantly asking the same questions about our order which was nothing peaky. Came back like 3 times to put the order on the system. They always have different servers, I have never seen the same ones. Even the busboys are more attentive than them. Food is ok, prices are decent, the hostess is very polite. On the other hand, my strawberry frozen margarita was literally sugar, it was not even real fruit or at least something alike, could bet it was grenadine, tequila and sour mix. Well, I still don’t know if it really had tequila in it. Still thinking about going back or not.

We had a brunch here. We were sat in the back at the two top. My old distressed looking chair was super wet, but it was not visible since the chair was made with some kind of foam rubber. So I literally sank with my butt into somethings wet and stinky:(I had to go home and change my pants after the brunch, cause my pants were sticky and wet and smell terribly:(not a pleasant experience. the food was mediocre, not tasty at all(we had a crab cake Benedict and atlantic omelette) and nothing special about the drinks either. The service was decent for the busy brunch, and this is the only reason I’m giving 2 stars. I don’t see me coming back here, absolutely no reason for that.

Since I moved out of Astoria a few years ago, I don’t get back up nearly as often as I used to. However, my uncle and I got dinner together two weeks ago and stopped in here. I don’t recall this restaurant being here before so I think it’s fairly new? I ordered the Parma($ 12) sandwich on Koulouri bread with a salad. First, I appreciate any restaurant that does not force French fries on me. The Greek salad was delicious and really quite large for being a side. The Parma sandwich was prosciutto, mozzarella, and roasted red peppers. The Koulouri bread is super thick and between half of a sandwich and the salad, I was full. I really love bread, but if you aren’t a massive carb eater, the sandwich might be too bread-y for you. I liked it, though! My uncle said his steak sandwich was pretty standard, but he really liked the fries. The ambiance is kind of upscale, neighborhood bar. There were a ton of babies and small children, and the atmosphere is very loud. While I enjoyed my meal, Avenue Café has some fierce competition in the neighborhood. I didn’t feel like my meal was something truly special, but it was definitely an A-OK dinner!

Came for breakfast and ordered the blueberry pancakes and green tea. The pancakes were made fresh on the spot which I can appreciate. The service was a bit slow that day but it wasn’t an issue since I was not in a rush

First time here… Went for the Brunch on a Sunday afternoon. First thing… They has seating outside and inside. I sat outside to enjoy the sun. Started with a Bloody Mary and it was enjoyable. Ordered the Steak and Eggs with cut fries. It was all good! Especially like the seasoned cut fries. Price was not bad. $ 43 for two steak and Eggs and 2 drinks. Service was was good. I recommend Café Avenue for a nice Sunday Brunch. … I have passed by this café a few times while in the area. My wife and walked around and checked out a few places and decided to stop here. It was a good choice!

I had never been to Astoria and a friend of mine familiar with the area recommended this spot to start the night. Very nice place in terms ambiance. Inside it’s lit like a fancy lounge and they have plenty of outdoor seating. Staff was nice and attentive. My friend suggested the Avenue Club, which was great. The fries seem like they are freshly cut and made and go great with their chipotle sauce. I figured I might as well order the Avenue X cocktail while I’m at it, continuing my trend of ordering items on the menu named after the establishment. Wasn’t too big a fan of it, too sweet for my taste. Luckily, I was able to wash it down with shot of Ouzo and Avenue water after that.

I wasn’t a fan of this place. The sangria I ordered was good though. Strong and had a nice flavor. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich on chiabatta bread. The chicken was overcooked, the sandwich was dry. The ratio of bread to everything else was too much. I had to trim the bread off. It came with Swiss cheese, lettuce & tomato, but no type of sauce. Too dry & the bread was hard. It also came with a side of fries, I didn’t know that because the menu didn’t specify so I wasn’t able to ask if there were other options. The fries weren’t crispy. They were limp and soggy. Our waitress came to check on us when we first started eating but then never returned to ask if we wanted another drink. Our glasses of water were replenished often by a busboy. The outside seating is nice except for the fact that ppl choose to smoke their cigarettes way too close to where everyone else is dining. There should be some type of rule about that.

Food is great! I got the chicken sandwich with the salad. It’s really really good. Although we did have an issue with the fries– my friend ordered a side order of fries, and TWICE, they came out burnt and smelling like fire;(my friend thinks they brought out the same order twice). The waitress finally took the plate away and said she wasn’t going to bother giving us another order because it was probably going to be the same situation. So we had to settle for no fries. Whatever. Banana Nutella crêpe is delicious! Service is HORRIBLE. It takes forever to get someone’s attention, so make sure that u place your order, for EVERYTHING, once they do come around. All the waitresses and waiters(with the exception of like 1 or 2) look very unhappy to be there. Cheer up!

An average place with gud outdoor seating. Their iced frappé is thick and heavy on coffee flavor which is good. We also tried their grilled veggies sandwich in Pita bread with side of fresh leafy salad.

«Good space but the drinks could be a little better» First, Avenue Café has a very ample space with plenty of outdoor seating. The staff was friendly(although a little aloof). The only issue that I had was with the speciality cocktails. I tried the Watermelon martini on this insistence of a friend and all three of us were severely disappointed(I think that there was too much of the watermelon liquor in the drink) and the peach cocktail was not that great either. Perhaps, the bartender that was working on that particular sunday did not know how to make the drinks properly or did not do a quick taste before sending them out. However, my gin and sodas were quite delicious and refreshing. I will more than likely return to this place, since I go to Astoria a bit and it is perfect on a nice day with the outdoor setup. But as for«wetting my whistle» I may just stick to the one/two ingredient(i.e. gin and soda or whiskey neat) beverages.
