The best restaurant in Astoria where the food is always fresh, cooked to perfection and served by the best staff. No wonder its always packed!!!

So good! My sister just moved nearby so I went here and when visiting her. I tried several dishes and all were quite delicious. She goes very often and said its consistent. Prices were reasonable. Service was slow but that’s normal for a Greek place. :)

Im a restaurateur, not a UnilocalER It’s freezing out and passed by this warming cozy place. Walked in and had a drink. Decided to have dinner. The waitress explained the specials with pride. My entrée was the chicken special with wild mushrooms. The ambiance, service, music and cleanliness makes this place a winner

Trekking to Queens particularly Astoria for some of the most authentic ethnic food is fast becoming a gastronomic habit. A good habit not to be broken soon. Dear friends Hussam & Uzma called the shot and we ended up at Agnanti on Ditmars Blvd in the shadows of the RFK Bridge. The combination being with these wonderful friend and eating genuine Greek cuisine in a fun, family style seated taverna was an experience worth the drive. The traditional dips and spreads coupled with various house favorite tapas ordered by our frenetic proprietor nearly stuffed us to the gills, but we gladly found room for the grilled Red Snapper and Bronzino. Dessert magically appeared — quite a treat as was the entire experience.

I have come here a few times and have never had a negative experience. However, I came here a few days ago during a time that wasn’t so busy. The owner was clearly upset about something and was making her emotions quite noticeable… very unprofessional. I’m Greek, I can understand what you’re saying and considering your restaurant is located in a highly Greek-populated town, you should probably watch how you speak. The woman serving my guest and I was rude and never checked up on us. I had to ask for the check when I got up to use the restroom since she disappeared and didn’t care to come ask if we needed anything else. I gave her my credit card and when she returned it with the check for me to sign, she asked if I could leave her tip in cash, pointing to the«x» she left over the tip line on the check. It’s 2016, most people don’t even carry cash on them anymore and how rude to even ask for a tip. I’ve been in the restaurant business and I know how this process works. Wherever I go, regardless of how good or bad service was, I tip at least 20%. But to ask for a tip? She was lucky I had a few bucks on me because clearly those few bucks were more than she deserved.

Well being in the restaurant business from a young age I have come across what not to do when serving a customer. The waitstaff at Agnanti or lack there of might want to take note. Might I mention Im also Greek, Greeks tend to start off by ordering appetizers aka mezedes to go with a beer or wine. After receiving our semi cool beers, not cold, which were poured into an «UnChilled» glass without asking if we’d like them to be poured in the first place, as beer tends to get warm if its not ice cold, our waitress poured my beer and placed it on my left, literally so close to the edge of the table I thought it was going to jump for a cannonball. 0⁄2 I asked my waitress if we could order our mezedes because we could not decide on our main course… it was about 2pm and the restaurant was empty except for another table behind us of 2. But I was told by my «waitress» in Greek, if I could just order everything in one shot because its more easy for the kitchen??? are you kidding?! Place was empty… whats the rush?! So we order«tyrokafteri» a spicy feta spread and the special of the day Pastichio. Might I add that she had the nerve to ask«would you like pitas?» How was I supposed to eat the tyrokafteri? With a spoon? Btw the tyrokafteri was great…¼ She brings us the pastichio which had a potato in the plate from the Jurassic period… I tried cutting it and it literally was so dry I thought maybe it was an ornament in the plate, picked it up to bite it, was literally like a rock. Not to mention the pastichio was all macaroni, the besamel was well done and crunchy, and there was basically a miniscule ounce of ground beef. 0⁄2. You would think while eating, or trying to eat that rock of a potato the waitress would check up on our table being that we were 1 of 2 tables in the restaurant on the other hand she was so concerned about keeping the kitchens orders precise and whole maybe she was preparing for the dinner shift as well as the apocalypse. She was M.I.A. aka Missing In Action. 0⁄1 After finally getting her attention I asked for the bill, and she had the nerve once again to ask me in Greek«if I can leave THETIP in CA$H…» as I was paying with a card… listen I was in the food business I understand the reason the boss asks for the tip to be in cash so they dont have to shell out tips to their staff… BUT where the heck does it say that I have to leave a tip for horrible service? When you wait on a table you are waiting on the people, you are serving them, you are not there to make your life as a waiter/waitress more convenient… however this is the mentality some people feel that they are entitled to whatever they feel that their entitled to. 0⁄1 Honestly you give great service, with a smile, unless the customer is a total jerk, but even then you still must hold your composure. Im not saying we complained, we were very patient and understanding to this miserable joke of a host, thinking the food would be fantastic. Not only did she rush us, not only did she leave us neglected, not smile, she had the nerve to ask for her tip… Such employees wouldnt last an hour working for me. I really hope an owner can read this. Im honestly not picking on this restaurant I heard great things… your waitstaff is the personality of your business as important as the type of feta or quality and freshness of the fish you buy. If someone isnt cutting it, throw them back in the sea. Ade geia!

This is a favorite dinner spot whenever I visit friends in the area. I’ve been here perhaps a half dozen times over the past few years and I’m never disappointed. This night was no different: one of the specials was lamb stew in a lemon sauce. The portion was generous and complete with healthy helpings of potato wedges– perfectly broiled. My wife enjoyed what she described as a perfect ribeye. Son’s seafood pasta was inhaled with gusto. The ambience is comfortable and homey… And even a spat between two servers halfway through dinner was no more than a quaint reminder of fraying nerves around any family reunion or get together. Feels like– home. Go — you won’t regret it.

The food here was pretty good although I wouldn’t say it was anything fantastic or amazing The service was good and attentive, a bit pushy at times but it wasn’t crowded so I guess I’ll take hovering over ignoring. The ambience is nice though and the covered seating along sidewalk was a great spot. I would definitely come back here again.

I have wanted to come to this place for a long time. I have lived in Astoria my whole life and have been to alot of Greek places. I live in the greek capital of the states. We came here for a surprise bday party at a 7pm reservation and got seated at 730 which got me really upseat. As a party we ordered the grilled octopus which was rubbery, the grilled calamari was also rubbery, and the calamari was salty. My main course i ordered a tbone steak meduim and lemon potatoes. My tbone steak was well done and the potatoes were over cooked that i couldnt stick the fork in the potato. My friend who is greek oredered a soup and he said it was bland. His girlfriend ordered a spicy feta dip and it came with no pita. How do u eat a dip with no pita. Go to MP if u want good food.

An authentic Greek restaurant serving the kind of food an old Greek grandma would make. The shrimp with tomato and feta is outrageous, bursting with flavor. I loved the grilled octopus, although it is a bit pricey. The dips with pita is a great sharing item for the table. I love the ambiance of this restaurant; it is located on a beautiful a stone’s throw from the river right next to Astoria Park. Great for a date or an intimate dinner with someone special or family. I look forward to going back soon!

This review is based on two things: a carafe of wine and grill octopus. Stopped by this place for a snack. Yes, my snack was wine and octopus. Perfect pairing. Why? Because the octopus tasted like chicken. Wasn’t chewy or weird. Just perfection. If you’re ever in Astoria and wanting Greek food, hit up this place.

My friend recommended this place from many previous visits so I had high hopes. It’s a small place with decent outside seating. Unfortunately, the waitress we got was miserable with no life in her what so ever. It stayed that way the entire night. The food was mediocre in my opinion. The Greek salad was crap and my Italian mother makes it way better. The best tasting dish was the Pastroumali. The feta cheese was very good as well. Other than that, everything was lackluster. I have no want to return there again.

Meh, I’ve had better Greek food in Fresh Meadows, Queens, NY. The recommended place is Gyro World. Anyways, Agnanti’s ambience is clean and neat. It is good to have conversations and friends to hang out. It offers indoors and outdoors. BUT, the food is trully meh. The taste is ok. Nothing wow. I had Octopus and it tasted so so. I had pork chop and I believe I can cook it better than how they do it. If you are in hurry, do not have the time to cook, feel lazy, and live around here in Astoria then you may come to this place. Other than that it is not worth driving all the way here when you can get better Greek food from anywhere else(Gyro World, perhaps?!)

Very disappointing experience. The quality of the food went down compare to what it used to be a few years ago. The cucumbers in the Greek salad were frozen. Grilled salmon was served raw inside. The taramasalata is served with no pita bread. The rice and chicken souvlaki lacked flavor and seasoning. It’s a shame, because the place has a great location and nice outdoor seating.

My first and last time dining here. From the minute we walked in we experienced a woman(manager?) with a heavy accent and a nasty attitude regarding our reservation for 5. After a good 10 minutes of back and forth regarding our reservation, we were seated outside which is the only positive thing this place has going for them. The service was horrible it took our waitress forever to take our order and once the food came we never saw her again. Our party asked for napkins and more pita bread at least 4 times to anyone that was passing by and would listen. The food is decent nothing to rave about I’ve definitely had better elsewhere in Astoria. My one star is for the decent food the other star is for the busser who came to clean our plates and brought us the napkins and pita.

Still one of my favorite places to dine after several years of dining there. And their Greek Salad is amazing, the feta cheese they use it fresh and unlike what you buy in the market. The lemon potatoes that come with the main meal is lovely. Also try the Kayianas(scrambled eggs cooked with fresh tomatoes and olive oil), Tomatokeftedes(tomato and herb croquets), and the Grilled Octopus!

Right across from Astoria Park, this quaint Greek restaurant is a decent option in the neighborhood. There were a nice selection of wines to choose from but we opted for a carafe of their house white. It came in a cute copper container. The menu is great to choose a few options for sharing and trying different dishes. The Dolmades Yialantzi were the stuffed grape leaves. The rice herb stuffing was really good and you also got a huge dollop of creamed goat cheese in the middle. We also got the Shrimp Kataifi which are whole shrimp wrapped in a shredded pastry, and fried. They are then placed on this lemony mustard sauce. This was a very interesting dish that I had to get when I saw it on the menu. It was really good and did not disappoint. The Baccalo were fried cod balls with a thick garlic pine-nut sauce. It was very mild and needed a lot of the sauce for each bite. Some pieces were kind of hard and over fried. The Tigania is described as «sauteed strips of your choice of pork or chicken with potatoes, lemon and spices.» We chose chicken and what it actually is strips of chicken sauteed with french fries. The sauteing made the whole dish very soggy and oily. The herbed chicken had good flavor but was quite dry as well. We finished with a complementary dessert of corn cake, more of the creamed goat cheese, and strawberry preserves. While I would want to come back and try other dishes, it seems like the menu is a hit or miss. Also to note that they take credit cards but tip must be in cash.

Our waiter was FANTASTIC! I would return a ton of times just for service like that. I ate there with my daughter, boyfriend, and cousin. Very small location with closer tables to make a homely environment. We ordered a three spread order to eat our pita with for an appetizer. That was very yummy. For some odd reason I liked mixing it. Also, ordered some shrimp with feta and garlic sauce. They were very big and tasted quite good. The meatballs were my favorite. They came with yogurt in the middle. Tasted the rice and cabbage salad that came with garlic and lime too. All was very yummy. Our last addition to our menu was one of their wines. I typically only drink read wine but gave it this time. It was very yummy. Oh oh oh. I forgot. We got a dessert on the house too. I would’ve tried it but the girls fell in love and ate it all in a blast. It was some kind of chocolate cake. They loved it.

This is by far, one of the best Greek restaurants in Astoria. Tip: Always get the spread appetizer. Comes with pita and plenty of spreads to house down while enjoying a glass of wine. I always get the sword fish kebab. So delicious, while light and filling. I love this place, however there can be a little bit of a wait. Go to the front, put your name down, then tell them you’re going to Agnanti Café. Get a glass of wine there, and tell the server at the café to call before you head over. Saves time and any future issues.
