Stopped by this afternoon to get my wife a Birthday Card. After checking out something that comes close to how I feel about my wife I approached the counter. Two employee’s helping two customers no problem at least until the gal decided to make small talk to her customers for what seemed to be forever. Not so much as a High I will be right with you. She must have known how much I enjoy this task and figured she could make me suffer as long as she wanted several minutes elapsed and she finally took my money no hello nothing but the price $ 5.68. She stuffed the cards in the bag and handed it to me really a great ambassador for the company. On the way out I made it a point to say thank you! Ask me if I will be back

So you are at the local court house and need to file some forms. Forms that are fairly common and used often would logically be found and available at the courthouse, correct? Well anywhere else but here in Mayberry. Law library within the courthouse with books of forms to copy… yes, but not these forms. So after seeing the byproducts of «equal opportunity employment» in action(and I use the term action lightly), I exit past the unplugged metal detector(always unplugged when I am at the courthouse) and animal heads on the wall(maybe child molesters, drug dealers, and felons would be better suited for display??) and head to Abeco. What is Abeco, you may ask? A place to get Lincoln memorabilia? Wooden logs to assemble structures? Nope. Abeco is a business that looks like it has withstood the tests of time in Astoria. The building is like taking a time warp back to the 70’s. They have office supplies, stationary, gifts for the tourists(Goonies stuff — yes, I have still not seen the damn movie), foofy drinks, candy, and enough fudge to kill a diabetic. For us, we needed and found the illusive packet of paperwork to file with the court so a beautiful child can have a new name and start a new life free from toxic parents. I just love being an advocate!!! Nice staff that even laughed at my obtuse jokes. We were in a rush, so didn’t get a chance to look around too much, but this looks like your go to place for office supplies, paper goods, and the like. Shop local and keep downtown Astoria alive or at least off of the respirator for the time being. Prices were actually better than some of the chain stores for some of the supplies that I spied. Location in Tillamook too, but I am trying to cut back on going to «Poo-Town» these days.(wink).
