This shop had some great penny candy, truffles, and even whole pickles sold right out of the jar. I used the word, *HAD* because I went by here last Monday(10/20/2014), and saw a sign on the door that read, «Thank you for 25 great years. We are now out of business».

Interesting variety of chocolates here. They sell some Dorothy Cox chocolates(Fairhaven), some truffles from Dante’s Confections in Billerica, and I think some Asher’s chocolates(Pennsylvania). Some of the truffles are more expensive than others. It’s at the Crossroads Commons Plaza in East Freetown, not Assonet. It’s off of exit 8 of route 140, and it’s also not far from route 18. This isn’t the same business as The Candy Jar & Florist in Pembroke.

the candy jar is perfect. they have literally EVERY gummy ever. if you’re into gummies at all, you have to go here. they’re all 5 – 15 cents each. you can get a massive paper bag full of gummies for under $ 10. you can’t get that price around here anywhere. their chocolates are really great– truffles are a must try. they have all the old school candy too. awesome vintage-style greeting card selection too. one of my favorite hidden gems.

I like this place. Not too many«penny candy» style stores around nowadays. Their truffles are to die for. Definitely worth the $ 1.50.
