This place is ok. The selection is ok. Like many second hand boutiques, it is highly hit or miss. Last time I was in there though, I had to leave because the employee smelled so badly of body odor that it was stifling the entire store. They are a little strange about what they buy as well. One time I brought in a bag of designer jeans in various colors and designer shoes and they rejected all of it because it was summer– that was the reason I was given. Seriously? You can’t keep stock in the back for two months? No one wears jeans in the summer? It’s not like Ashland is Miami or something, people.

Three Penny fills a void in Ashland with nice vintage clothes, however, it could be a lot better. All in all the selection is great even if the prices are a bit high, the biggest problem is in trying to sell to the store. The owner is great, but a number of the employees, while they try hard and are willing to learn, can lack some basic knowledge about vintage clothes. This means that you can get wildly different quotes for the same piece, depending on who is working that day. I would almost recommend that people not sell to Three Penny at all, which is problematic for a store that wouldn’t have any inventory without people bringing in their old flannels and boots. All in all I like the concept, I like the staff(as people), I like the variety of items. I don’t like the selling process and how random some of their pricing feels.

I don’t get why so many people love this store. It doesn’t have a large selection, unfortunately(something out of their control). The thing that bothers me is that a lot of vintage items(their specialty) that they carry are damaged. Why would I pay $ 20 for a torn dress? The staff are friendly but not active in assisting customers. I work at a clothing retailer downtown and we are conscious about paying attention to customers. This is especially important if someone is lugging around lots of items. It’s easy to ask«may I start a dressing room for you?»! Or simply greeting people when they walk in, and thanking them when they leave. It’s almost as if they could care less whether or not you shop there. The employees also seem flustered sometimes. Maybe they’re understaffed? Overall, the outlandish prices and lack of customer assistance make this shop simply not worth it. Tip: I’ve heard they’re willing to negotiate pricing, if you still want to take a chance.

Three Penny’s ever-revolving selection wows me every time I stop by, and that’s at least once a week! I never leave empty handed. Their curating is awesome, they give generous in-store credit when you bring clothes in, and the employees are just rad. Super fun and comfortable environment to browse in. Easily my fave place for clothing in Ashland.

I loved this little shop. Their items were in good condition and they had a great selection of sizes even though the shop itself is on the smaller side. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. I found a pretty purse that was higher priced than other thrift shops I’ve been to, but it’s good quality and has no wear so worth every penny. I will definitely come here when we visit Ashland again. And for the record, it’s nice to be able to recycle and upcycle quality items rather than throw our dollars away supporting cheaply made Chinese sweatshop throwaway items. Keep up the good work!

Three Penny is a pretty cute store with a combination of new and used hipster clothing for men and women. The one thing that makes it difficult for me to support this store is their prices. For things like forever 21 and old navy, they often price them at what seems to be near their original value. The kicker is what they pay for things you bring in… They’ll often try and give a price for your bulk items. I’ve gotten into the habit of having them itemize for me what each item is worth. HOWEVER!!! I’ll go back in and se my things priced WAY higher than what they said they could sell it for… This dishonesty is really not cool! Avoid consigning here if possible– Dejavu is much more honest and transparent in paying you out for clothes.

I love this shop! It has a great style choice of clothes, good prices, and you can even make money there as well. The employees are very nice and welcoming. I just moved to Ashland and I will be returning to this place frequently!

Love this store. Has a great, sophisticated urban edge. Have been very happy with the vintage items I have purchased, and some of my daughter’s favorite clothing items came from this store. Not a bargain spot, but not a rip off. You get what you pay for. Clearly the buyers have an eye for quality.

«3 Penny» is a vintage cloths store with great deals and hard to find items. All the people are kind, insightful, and willing to help you find a good style. One of the shop keeps, Becka, took a lot of time to help me with a lot of really stupid questions whilst also being really sweet. If your a hip person looking for a unique or vintage look at a hood price this place is a must!!!

I loved this store ever since they opened! This is a great secondhand store(with some new merchandise near the front). The selection is very unique and I always come out with at least one awesome item. The fitting rooms are pretty small which is hard when you have so many items you want to try on. I’d say the pricing is fair. It’s not crazy out of the water like a «vintage» store, but it’s nothing like the steal prices at Goodwill. This has definitely become one of my favorite(if not favorite) stores to shop in Ashland.
