My husband and I love this place. It’s very clean, the service is great, and it’s a saline hot tub so the water isn’t harsh on your skin. We always leave feeling cleansed and refreshed. It’s also great for sore muscles. We come here together as a special treat or my husband comes here sometimes on Wednesdays when they have a reduced price. The couples package is pretty awesome too. The friendly receptionist makes the experience exceptional every time.

Massages were some of the best we ever had! The tub was super relaxing as well. The couples massage package makes a great birthday or anniversary present

This place was weak. It’s nice looking, but … The service was mediocre on a Thursday afternoon. The receptionist promised us cucumber water(or whatever it was) and then never brought it to us, which sucked because it was a very hot day and hydration would have been nice. The private bath area we were assigned had a door that didn’t lock, and there was no privacy to it at all, really. There was too much sun, actually, and no respite from it on a 90-degree day. Bad luck or bad design? I don’t know. The locker rooms/bathrooms were fine but very basic. The robes they give you only fit really skinny people. My wife and I are triathletes with muscle, and the robes they gave us wouldn’t fit around our waists at all. Definitely experienced better elsewhere. Maybe this place would be nicer in the winter months, but … not sure I want to try it again for the cost.

Unbelievable, oasis. Transformative. A hidden retreat, a quiet monastery of joy and tranquility. From the steam room to the plunge pool to the hot bath, coupled with the hot tea. To the sauna, back to the cold pool, into the hot pool. Meditate. Feel the stillness, lost in subtle music and beautiful Japanese inspired, modern surroundings. Gratified by the warm service and help. A $ 25 ticket to a different dimension, deeply worthy. The experience is entirely brought by the patron. If the patron has peace to find, lots of peace can be found here. Top off with small plates, beautifully presented in a comfortable seating area. Such joy.

I love Chozu, whether private baths or the communal ones. Very relaxing and great get away in Ashland. They also serve high quality Japanese Green teas too which is quite a treat.

I have to say I feel very mislead. Was I naïve? Perhaps. But the marketing for this business is very off. It was recommended to me by a local tour guide so I booked myself a Vedic Bliss package for my birthday. I’ll get to the point, the draping was pretty much nonexistent and as a Licensed Massage Therapist, this set off alarms in my head. When I walked into the room to begin my appointment, the staff member who conducted my session informed me that the Abhyanga exposes the chest area. Pardon me? Where in the description, «An Ayurvedic treatment using warm organic sesame oil and rhythmic strokes to relax the body. A perfect choice for relieving anxiety and stress» did I miss THAT key aspect?! I talked myself into it because I had been looking forward to being pampered but was way too conscious of my own nakedness to enjoy it. Was I relaxed at the end, sure, but that was because of the Japanese facial(which was much more true to it’s description by the way). No tension was released from my body, no muscles were milked of their lactic acid. I felt awkward and wanted to get the hell out of there. I never received the tea service or light meal the package included. So I paid my $ 198 and I left. My birthday pampering still hasn’t happened and I am out the $ 198 I would have been happier spending elsewhere. Never again Chozu, never again.

This was great fun. I’m giving it four stars because I can’t help but compare it in my head to 10,000 Waves in Santa Fe, which is still my favorite. That’s a high bar and Chozu didn’t quite get there, but for a small, fourth tier resort town like Ashland, the place is pretty good. We took a private pool which was lovely, quiet, and imbued with a gentle green light that made my girlfriend look like something out of a Maxfield Parrish painting. A nice hour in the tub followed by steam rooms and cold plunges, all included in the price. We were served a lovely oolong tea which was brought to us poolside. They also give you chilled cucumber water and bath salts, both complimentary. I liked the fact that they provide you with a traditional koshimaki wrap to wear and the venue is very sweet, lots of dark wood and little things to buy like high quality candles and dark chocolate. Left feeling refreshed and happy. Would go again.

Came here in the late evening– absolutely beautiful and exceptionally clean. We were sore from all the hiking we had done that week and decided to cap off our trip with hot springs. We were not disappointed! Incredibly relaxing and rejuvenating.

I want to go here every day. My boyfriend and I went here for my birthday. It was aaahhhhhmazing. We went from hot pool(private) to cold pool, to sauna, to cold pool, to sauna… you get the picture. Then we got a wonderful massage. Rowan was attentive and listened to me to be sure she applied the right amount of pressure. Just great. My boyfriend’s masseuse was Greg, and he said Greg did a fine job, no complaints. We had sake afterwards, and the world was mellow. Wonderful. The only drawback? With the«couple’s retreat,» you’re basically given a $ 20 credit for food/drink, but the kitchen closes at 8pm(I think). We reserved at 6:30pm, which put our massage at 7:30pm for an hour… and then you can dip in the pools for a while if you like. Nobody mentioned the kitchen closing. Corey(sp?) was nice enough to serve us sake after 8:30, probably closer to 9pm. He was fun to talk to, very polite and friendly, and very appreciated. It would have been nice to know of the closing time(the spa doesn’t close until 10pm if I remember correctly) for the kitchen. We really did have a nice time there, very relaxing.

Came here randomly on my trip through Oregon during the 4th of July weekend. Unable to get a massage scheduled, so we just paid for time in their bath gardens. It seemed we were the only ones there at the time, which was good. The experience was ok, not too impressed… they have a few private jacuzzi’s and a small heated pool. Looks like a typical standard sized pool in anyone’s backyard. Also a tiny«cold water» dip pool, which the water looked kind of dirty at the time. The locker room was clean. They had clean showers and pretty clean restrooms. The steam room and dry sauna’s were pretty standard too, nothing fancy. They also seem to have a wasp population starting to develop there in the gardens. Hope they take care of that before it becomes a huge problem. Can’t speak for their food or other services, so keep in mind, this is just for their bath gardens. All in all, an ok experience in their bath gardens, nothing super special.

A great place to relax and enjoy a great soak! But beware. after 8pm everyone in naked! If you want a more modest experience I would suggest the Private tubs. They also have a great dry/wet sauna. The tea and sake are wonderful and the food is very light and tasty.

I chose Chozu for my wedding anniversary. Tea was lovely and the mochi ice cream was worth trying. Also took in a good soak and steam. Very relaxing. I’ll be back. Arigato gozaimashita.

This was the best & most unique spa experiences my boyfriend & I have ever had. We highly recommend THECOUPLESPKG, that is priced MORE than reasonable. Offering the BEST massage both of us have had(we obviously had different masseuse but we bragged to each other how great each of ours was). We also had use of our own PRIVATE hot tub, we received a light meal, & saki. Not to mention the package also included the use of the garden with a cold plunge, sauna & pool. There is also a steam room in each of the bathrooms. The garden is, however, public & clothing is optional after a certain time.

This was our second visit, the first time was two years ago and when we knew we were coming back to Ashland, this was on our ‘must do’ list between plays and concerts! Chozu really is an island of calm. The staff is welcoming and low key. The décor is totally in keeping with the zen theme. Everything is scrupulously clean. We booked a package for two. It started with massage. My wife specifically requested forTanya who gave her such a wonderful experience two years ago and who was still there! Again, she gave a very professional massage with lots of specific attention to the areas my wife indicated. My massage was a general relaxing full-body massage and it was exactly that, from the the gentle beginning to the hot towels wrapped around my feet at the end! 60 minutes of heaven! That was followed by a shower with lovely scrubbing salts provided, then a soak in a wonderful private hot tub. As a couple, we were booked into the private tub area, so it was clothing optional for the two of us. Ninety minutes of that… followed by a cold plunge if that is your preference(my wife’s, NOTMINE!) Finally, our package included a light lunch. We each had a bowl of udan noodles, prepared very nicely with tasty mushrooms and seaweed! The experience lasted four hours and, for the two of us, ran to $ 300 including tips. ABSOLUTELYWORTHIT! We get to Ashland every couple of years and Chozu will remain a key part of the trip!

I have NEVER had a massage as excellent as the one I had at Chozu with Annika(Anniker?). I emerged not only refreshed but so relaxed I felt I was on a different planet. I’ve never had a masseuse make my neck and shoulders feel so good. The baths and surrounding gardens are lovely and tranquil. I will make this a mandatory stop whenever I come to Ashland. My only negative is that the bathrobes and wraps they provide don’t fit everyone. In fact, they need to invest in some wraps for tall folks and those who are larger than size 10. They are made for really small people. I was glad to have my swim suit to wear to subsidize the tiny wrap I was given to wear in the bath.

I“ve been here twice for tea, so I can’t comment on the food(although their menu looks good)! However, I can say that I love the environment/décor, and it’s the perfect place to relax with a friend, or it sets a very romantic environment for a date. The loose leaf tea is delicious and very nicely presented/served. The waiter is very professional and can only be described as perfect! A very nice place for a light meal or sake/tea! Highly recommended!

This Japanese garden spa conjured complete serenity for us. We spent 3 hours leisurely going from hot pool to cold plunge to sauna. The grounds are beautiful, with a simple Japanese garden feel encouraging a feeling of peacefulness and serenity. We enjoyed being clothing optional in the pools with towel wraps(«koshimaki») for wandering around, though we were told they are changing their policy to clothing-optional in the evening only. Call and check if you care. Also, best to book ahead if you want a massage. We came unprepared with reservations, so just contented ourselves with the bath garden, which was lovely.
