The Center for Craft, Creativity & Design

This is so much more than a gallery! Helping to build the community of «makers» — from ceramics to wood to textiles to almost anything that can be made, the CCCD is an important part of the creative movement in North Carolina… AND they have fascinating exhibits. Most recently it featured local artists in textiles, ceramics and more — making useful and beautiful items. The gallery is spare, allowing the art and crafts to shine. If you’re weary of the many touristy shops which abound in Asheville, search out this spot, and spend some time simply taking in the beauty of simple/​complicated crafts, and the history behind them. The Center for Craft… should be applauded for helping support and encourage the ongoing development of arts and crafts in America. Stop by, you’ll enjoy!

This is one of my favorite art galleries in the Asheville area. They host really great art shows and have fun, interactive events with art and/​or artists. The space is large and open with high ceilings. Located right downtown, The Center for Craft, Creativity & Design is a must-​visit gallery. I’ve never seen a one-​person show here, rather the shows have a theme, which is great to experience a variety of work.
