I used to love this bar, this was my main sports bar to watch all the games and fights. Bartenders were always nice and the servers I definitely have no issues with them… Until an incident happened last week on Thursday that i still haven’t fully recovered from. It was a typical Thursday night and ended up here around 1am. We were buying drinks, playing air hockey and other games enjoying the night. Well, around 1:30am the doorman/bouncer started going around with an attitude counting down the minutes before we had to leave. He called everyone out — at 1:40am — we were still trying to finish the drinks we rightfully paid for. As this was happening an out-of-towner was not leaving, as the doorman asked him to put down his drink and leave. The patron looked confused simply because it wasn’t 2am(when bars close) and not giving him time to finish. The doorman slapped the drink from his hand and flew all over my face, hair, and clothes — even getting my friend standing beside me wet. No apology was given, just to get out, as he went into a roid rage. The patron could have taken legal action because the doorman put his hands around his neck pushing him down. The manager seemed to be ok with this conduct, as she did not offer any apology either, and just kept telling everyone to get out in a very rude tone. This place has totally gone downhill and as stated before i was really let down and upset for days. I would not recommend this place to anyone as of now. There are many other places to go that are happy your buying drinks and keeping them in business and are respectful towards the patrons. It could have been handled so much better, what a shame!

Great service by Holland! Beer selection outstanding just a little bummed that there were no authentic German dishes except pretzels, which are homemade and very yummy.

This place is really fun! The people who work there are all very nice. The building itself is really nice and open air. We had a big group and they accommodated us quickly. The food across the board was really good. I had the flatliner burger and it was GREAT! The other meal that stood out was the quesadillas. Really big and very high quality! The beer selection was great and every beer I tried was great flavor. The cost was pretty reasonable as well! Great time for sure

We came here to watch the UNC/SU game. It was packed! That didn’t stop this place from performing! Lots of eye candy for both sexes. Tons of tvs for watching the game. Good age range too 20’s– 40’s. Our server was amazing, attentive and honored the 50% off appetizer coupon from checking in with the Unilocal ap! We got the brisket Mac and cheese for our ½ price ap to share. Yummy. We each ordered a couple of beers and they were good too. Try the local ones for a new experience. We told our waitress what we normally drink and she recommended a corresponding local one. Food was so good! I had the fish tacos, it came w/2 and they were big! Good flavor and tasty toppings. Brother had the chicken, avocado bacon sandwich– I forget the official name. He got sweet potato fries, I had reg fries. Both hot and tasty. Our friend got the salad, and was pleased. I posted a pic, but it came out dark. Enjoy!

«Are these the only beers you have on draft?», is a quote you will only hear in Asheville. Their beer selection is HUGE which I guess is a good thing considering their name. They have everything from Guinness to a high gravity pour from Wicked Weed. So, if you’re looking to please a crowd, this is the place to go. Not only do they have all of the beer, beer, and more beer, but they have a large wine list as well as a full bar. If you’re looking to watch the game, this place takes the title for the local sports bar with its’ multiple TV’s and huge projector. They also have tons of games for you to play yourself! Pool tables, ski ball, foosball, you name it, Bier Garden has it. The late night crowd gets pretty wild so, if you are in town looking to meet people and have a crazy good time, this is your spot. They have a DJ on the weekends with the option to break it down on the dance floor, or calmly sit on the opposite side of the establishment without too much noise or ruckus. The food is alright, it isn’t great but people don’t exactly go to Bier Garden for their farm to table food and artisanal bites. It’s bar food and it gets the job done. They also have a late night menu so, too many beers? No worries, grab some fried pickles or nachos for your evening cravings.

Caught the UNC game here during a weekend trip to Asheville. Pretty standard spots bar– the food is definitely not gourmet and the tables are a little squishy/sticky, but it serves it’s purpose. We ordered a few appetizers– the nachos and pretzel bites. The nachos were pretty good but the pretzel bites left a lot to be desired. They were pretty hard/chewy. But you don’t typically go to a sports bar for the food, so what can I say! They have a lot of TVs so you’re sure to find your game playing.

We had a great server and the vibe/music was awesome but when we approached the bar there was an older gentlemen bar tending who was rude and not very accommodating… He almost seemed bias… his name was buck. We still enjoyed ourselves outside of the negative bartender

Burgers are fantastic, and so are the beer battered veggies. Long list of beers on tap, and knowledgeable servers make for a great dining experience. Only con is service was a bit slow, even when the place is not busy.

Perfect place to watch sports on TV. There are so many TVs — apparently a rarity in Asheville! We were really happy to discover this place with many screens and an extensive beer list. We also ordered the spinach artichoke dip which was very tasty. The staff was friendly, and service was good. Definitely the best place to watch a game in Asheville!

I have been coming to the Bier Garden since I moved to Asheville 5 years ago. They have always had awesome food and the largest selection of beer in town! Almost to an overwhelming degree. But don’t fear. You can always find something quick and easy on tap or just refer to their chalkboard specials behind the main bar. They have superior bar food if that’s what your looking for. Just don’t get caught trying to order a bud-light or a high-life! Drink some good beer while your here.

I actually liked this place, but for the overly rude bartender, I give it a 1 in hopes they do something about this guy. It’s been a while since I’ve seen douchebaggery on this level, if ever. He yelled in my face, and others, time after time when I was ordering drinks for 4 females and myself… just trying to have a good New Years Eve. Sure, it was busy, and I was patiently waiting my turn to order each time. One time he actually yelled to a guy BEHIND me to get his order, so I yelled at him since that’s his preferred method of communication, «AND I’LLHAVETWOSHOTS!». He pointed at me and yelled back, «OHWILLYOU?!» And walked away. Made the drinks for me and the guy behind me, then demanded money with his hand out(He did this every time, and I repeatedly had to yell my name back at him because I had an open tab). Its obvious that he fancies himself and his image *the now trending beard, shaved sides of his head, tattoos*, plus his power to serve drinks at a bar, so much so that he feels ok treating paying customers like sh*t. The managers/owners should be sure to tell this guy that bartending is a service, not a show. Pretty horrible experience even though the 3 other female bartenders were perfectly nice. I hope they get this coked up a-hole out of there and he can go back to UFC training where that behavior is cool and appropriate. Until then I’m going anywhere else.

During our visit to Asheville we ate/drank here on two occasions. Both visits were great. Rachel J. was our server the first time and she was great. Always had a smile and would check on us frequently even though we noticed she had a lot of tables. We went this time for some drinks and an appetizer. Very satisfied. The second visit was for dinner. Our server was Preston. He also did very well. We ordered our food and drinks which were delivered promptly. Everything we ordered was tasty and cooked to expectation. We’ll be back.

We stopped in during the afternoon on a Sunday to watch some NFL football. The service was great as well as the drink specials and food. Very friendly waitstaff! There a specific a huge beer selection of local breweries. They offer a beer flight(every day except Saturday). For apps we really enjoyed the spinach and artichoke shop and classic buffalo wings. YUM!

Looking to watch some sports ball? Are you currently wearing the jersey of an athlete you don’t know? Do you want to make new friends and new enemy’s because you are all wearing the same color? Then this is the place for you! Bier Garden has more screens than you can count(seriously, I tried, but I kept finding new ones and eventually just gave up). Whatever game you want, they will put on. They even put on the Tour De France for a dork like me. Football? Yes Basketball? Yes Golf? Yes Soccer? Yes, surprisingly. My dorky cycling race? Yes The 2016 Olympic games? Hell, yes! You know where I’ll be. Wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable of their huge selection of beer, and I do mean huge. Bier garden might have the largest variety of beers in Asheville, including local, domestic, and international brews. Not into passively watching the game and want something more interactive? There is billiards, fussball, air hockey, and more. You would think this place is Charles Edward Cheese’s except instead of tickets you get beer! Note: you cannot win beer by playing arcade games. Standard pub fair will keep you full and alert, but who really need that when there’s so much to see and do.

My boyfriend and I have been here 3 times. Both times we got appetizers and a few drinks. They make a good Bloody Mary and they are cheap on Sunday’s. They also have a really large beer selection! We have had the nachos, chicken wings and Gouda, bacon Mac & cheese. The nachos are a good size to split and are pretty darn good for bar nachos. The wings were tasty and for just under a dollar you can try a couple different sauces. My boyfriend had the Mac & cheese and said it was rich and super heavy but amazing and tasty. He had to take more than half of it home. The inside of this place is pretty dark and feels like a sports bar which is fine. However, if you want to have some air and more light there is an option to sit close to open windows which is nice, too.

This restaurant has a great view of downtown Asheville and a great beer selection. The staff are knowledgeable and more than willing to provide beer samples to help you find your perfect beer. I had the bacon Mac & cheese, and it was a little bland. I still ate it of course, but it didn’t rock my world ;-) my friends had the Caesar salad, and they liked them well enough from what I could tell.

I get why this place might get a bad rating, it’s Asheville and people are snobby, I’m not. I always get the cheese plate, nachos and a burger(we share, it’s a lot of food!). Half of the time I’m not sober and this is just an easy, laid back place. Also– my husband loves that they have a KCCO flag. That makes his day.

I always seem to end up in this place when I am in town for lunch. A huge selection of bottled beers and good selection on draft. And since Asheville is such a mecca for craft beer there is always a lot of the best local brews on draft. Tried the Highland Cold Mountain this time. Excellent beer! Darker with a little hint of cherry and vanilla. Perfect for a colder day. There is also a decent selection of sandwiches and other plates to enjoy all while watching the game on either the large projection TV or several of the smaller TV’s located throughout the place. A solid choice in Downtown Asheville.

This place has a fantastic selection of beers, and a great location. Further, if you’re looking for a bar to watch any and every sport game that may be on at one time, this is your go to spot. Upon a recent visit I was saddened by a few negative impressions, which keeps me from giving this place a 4 or 5 star review. Our server must have been new, they didn’t have a good handle on the information presented in our beer menu. When we asked what the three options in price referred to our server replied with«The first is a pint, the third is the pitcher, I don’t know what the middle one is». They’re also expanding the bar, having removed the game room, but this construction area wasn’t separated from the dining room in any manner, just darkened, so it felt like you were dining next to an ominous cave. The Bier Garden serves a very important purpose in Asheville, there are far too few independently owned sports bars. With just a little bit of polish and extra care this place could be really something.
