A great experience and awesome food. The ambiance is eclectic but also fun! Hostess was great and talkative… made us feel at home. Food was great… the carrot cake hotcakes are to die for… will be back!

So cute, so clever, so delicious! Reminds me of Austin. I don’t usually like bacon, but here it makes every dish and drink infinitely better. I had the chicken waffle sandwich, hubs had the shrimp and grits, both were fantastic. Loved the spicy Bloody Mary and the fun, quirky server. Great vibe, we’ll be back whenever we’re in the area.(Worth the wait).

BESTFOODINASHEVILLE!!! We went on a Tuesday I think for a late brunch and still had to wait a good 20 – 30 minutes for a table. I was a little annoyed but our friends insisted that it was worth the wait… boy were they right! Don’t even look at the menu just order the chicken and waffle sandwich. Fried Chicken Perfect, The«Bread» Sweet Potato Waffle, Pimento Cheese, Hot jam… oh and to top it off BACON! I always find myself ordering chicken and waffles and I always leave disappointed with them not anymore! Only downside I can only have it when I go back to Asheville :(Parking is at a premium and there really isnt much so on top of the wait might want to add ten minutes or so to your plan to find a spot. It is a must visit!

Above-average hippy dippy brunch café. My BLAT was loaded with bacon. The side salad had the house dressing kind of haphazardly slathered on it, but that’s a pretty minor complaint. My wife also liked her huevos. I got a nice local Asheville brew — Rusty Nail Brown or someting? — on draft. Service was friendly and attentive. It almost full at lunch on a Thursday but we got a table right away.

It’s been a month since I was in Asheville, and I’m still thinking about the scrumptious brunch I enjoyed at Sunny Point during a quick visit in May. The gods were smiling on my husband and me because we were seated immediately on a Friday mid-morning. Shortly thereafter, a queue formed, but no one looked particularly displeased as they waited, enjoying the shady benches, plentiful coffee, and meandering gardens. There were so many delectable-looking items on the menu, but we ultimately landed on the southern omelette and the savory french toast. Oh my stars. The french toast was stupidly good. A blend of sausage, cheddar, and cream cheese tucked between two crispy-on-the-outside, eggy-on-the-inside pieces of toast. Served with maple syrup for drizzling. This is my dream come true because it resolves the savory vs. sweet battle I wage each time I try to pick a brunch selection. The omelette was also a standout, especially the plentiful amount of magical bacon that managed to stay perfectly crispy while surrounded by fluffy egg, zesty pimiento, and fresh tomato. The sides were no slouches either — a yummy biscuit with homemade jam, chipotle cheese grits with a subtle kick, and fresh fruit salad. Sunny Point Café is officially my best breakfast experience ever. Yup, I said it.

I am a fan. We ordered the chicken salad, which was extremely flavorful and the chicken and waffle sandwich. We truly waited for about an hour to eat but not so bad as there is a pleasant atmosphere in the outside patio waiting area and servers walking around taking drink order before you sit(mimosa and bloody marrys, etc.)

Long story short: Do it. You will wait. It is worth it. We went to Sunny Point on a Tuesday, mid morning. Their parking lot is teeny weeny and we were lucky to have a MINI that fit into a space I’m not entirely sure was a spot, but it worked. The lot was full. On a Tuesday, mid-morning. 00 We checked in and had about a 15 – 20 minute wait to be seated. We explored the garden, which I’m told they use to create the culinary delights, it was great to see such love. The outdoor waiting area is comfortable, shaded and there is a coffee station for those who need some right now!(It gets added to your bill later). There is a cute outdoor seating area, but we got first available, inside, which was adorable too. We ordered a variety of dishes. I got the pimento omelette with bacon, a biscuit and cheese grits. It was perfection. I highly advise you try the Hot Jam on your biscuit. Hubby got the Chicken and waffles sandwich. He says(correctly) that he will never order chicken and waffles from anywhere else. It was everything he had always wished for that dish, and it can’t be beat. Prices were really good, and the food is exceptional. Next time I’m in Asheville I will go there more than once, for sure!

Every time we overnight in Asheville, Sunny Point is a MUST for breakfast the next morning. While I’ve tried a number of things on the menu, especially enjoying the huevos rancheros, shrimp ‘n’ grits, and various omelettes, lately my favorite order has been the Breakfast Sandwich. I get it on one of their cloudlike angel biscuits instead of the croissant so that after I’ve eaten all mini omelet toppings off, I can slather it with that amazing berry jam. The maple pepper bacon is the best my husband and I have had ANYWHERE, and the jalapeño cheese grits have just the right kick. Whenever we eat here, we lament that we don’t live in Asheville so we could eat here more often. A true gem!

My friend and I came to asheville for a cycling/brewing trip. We stayed at an airbnb near by and was told to eat here. When we arrived at 9 am on a saturday, it was already an 1 hour wait. but it was nice as they take your number and send you a text message with the wait time and how far along in line you are. They also have coffee on the honor system so that while you wait, you can at least have something to wait you up. I ordered the: Seasonal baby garden greens with our house Maple Dijon Dressing, topped with maple black pepper bacon or tofu bacon, warm herb tossed spuds, tomatoes, and a free range egg any style. Served with an angel biscuit or focaccia. $ 9.50 –This breakfast salad was more than filling! the maple black pepper bacon was AMAZING! and so good. I wish there was more of it on it. I also ordered the angel biscuit which may not be the best biscuit i had, but we definitely took it home. The maple dijon dressing was also a great topping. and my friend ordered the: MGB * Mighty Good Breakfast. Two free range eggs, a choice of Snow Creek nitrate free sausage, maple black pepper bacon, tofu bacon or veggie sausage, herb tossed spuds or stone ground chipotle cheese grits, and an angel biscuit or focaccia. $ 9.50 –My friend ordered this so she could have the biscuit, grits and the maple bacon. She did not regret this at all. The cheese grits was by far one of the best grits I have ever had! and we shared the: Organic Carrot Hot Cakes * Fluffy organic carrot hot cakes topped with cardamon cream cheese. Served with real Vermont maple syrup. Single Hot Cake $ 6.00 –We were unsure if we should get more food than we already had, but we had to try this pancake. I wish we had more room for this because it was to die for. The cardamon cream cheese was amazing, i wanted to the lick it clean. I never thought that hot cakes with carrots would be good, but definitely worth the try. Hot sauce — they have this chipotle hot sauce there, but it wasn’t very spicy, the habanero sauce we had at Early Girl Eatery was amazing comparatively. We had breakfast at early girl eatery and over easy and by far, sunny point was best! We even came here again on our last day. It was a tuesday at 810 am and we were seated very quickly, but by 830, it was packed. Although i wanted the breakfast salad, which my friend got, I went with the special which was asparagus brie scramble. It had really great flavor as well. I wish I lived in asheville so I could eat here everyday!

We went here for brunch prior to going on a hike. With the wait being a little over an hour, we were uncertain if we should stay or check out another place. They provided coffee for those waiting and had a cool link you could follow to see when your table would be ready. Once we were seated, the service was quick and efficient without feeling rushed. The breakfast specials looked delicious, but I couldn’t pass up a good burrito. Huevos rancheros looked delicious as well. Loved this place’s vibe — and the rest of Asheville for that matter. Check it out! Great spot.

My family recently dined here on a VERY busy weekend(Memorial Day weekend) and on a Sunday, the most popular brunch day. Needless to say, the wait times were very long(about 1.5−2 hrs). Despite the long wait time, our brunch was supremely enjoyable. The host stand was very busy but friendly. I was able to order a bloody mary and mimosa through them, despite the fact that they were frequently swarmed by new arrivals. A few notes for our wait: Sunny Point utilizes a phone app waiting system that is awesome! You are able to see how many guests are in front of you. Be aware, however, that you should be nearby within 15 guests ahead of your name because our party of 4 was seated with 9 names still showing ahead of us. I’m not sure what is around here, but it could be worth a walk around to make the wait transpire quicker. There is coffee and half-and-half available, but it goes super quickly. Keep an eye out for refills or inform the hosts(politely) when it needs to be replenished. For those who like sugar or other sweeteners, however, there was none in sight. Our service was great! The server went above and beyond to answer all of our questions as well as allow us to make minor substitutions for dietary restrictions. The server’s personality was fantastic as well. Now on to the food: Everyone loved their brunch items, but there were definitely several standouts: The pecan-coated fried green tomatoes are served with goat cheese and a spicy aioli – LOVED these. They are a little pricey, but so worth it. I personally enjoyed the salmon hash, and I still am sad that I didn’t have an opportunity to eat my leftovers! The sliced baked potatoes are covered with a creamy dill sauce that was fantastic. The smoked salmon, eggs, and onions all melded super well to make a great dish. Both of my parents chose the pimiento cheese omelet, and my dad actually stated that it may have been the best omelet he has ever had. I also enjoyed one of the carrot cake pancakes, and oh my goodness! This could be breakfast or dessert, so delicious. Everything tasted super fresh, was prepared exactly how we ordered it, and left me dreaming of living in Asheville just to brunch here regularly! Thanks, Sunny Point.

20 min wait then they texted us «your table is ready» then waited another 15 minutes for them to clean off a table. No apology for the extra 15 minute wait. Took another 5 – 10 min to get water. Just awful service! Then my girlfriend’s fresh squeezed orange juice was plenty tasty but room freakin temperature. Yuck. My iced latte was just an iced coffee, not a latte. Tasted like the coffee was burnt in the brewing process at that. My eggs were decent for restaurant eggs, but pretty oily. The bacon was kind of chewy, not ideal. The biscuit was pretty dry but the cheese grits were pretty good. My girlfriends shrimp and grits were quite good and the only reason I give a 2 instead of 1 star. Overall, I would never come back. I’m sure there are better choices around

What can I say that hasn’t been said already about this place. Will try to list them out for ease — * Great indoor and outdoor seating, easy parking * Great reservation system, outdoor coffee to ease the wait * Friendly and fast service * Lots of home made jams and hot sauces *Organic and locally sourced food mostly made from scratch * Extensive menu with lots of vegan/vegetarian friendly options * Great cocktails to kick start your day Strated with the hard-chai, a burbon laced iced tea, to start. The huevos fucheros(chorizo subbed for tofu) was fabulous — the salsa verde, bean cakes and herbed potato were great. The crossaint sandwich was a hit with companion. Folks in tables around were all nodding with glee about their food. I made a stop in Asheville during my drive to the Smokys. Must stop here just for the brunch y’all !

My favorite brunch place in Asheville!!!(which is saying a lot!) A must in West Asheville(or even Asheville for that matter). We have to go every time we are in town! There is usually a wait, but often it isn’t long. We will also walk across the street for beers at the Oyster House while we are waiting, so it doesn’t seem to be very long. Was here a few days ago and ordered the fried chicken sandwich on sweet potato waffles, and holy cow it was good! The grits are a must. Their cocktails are also on point. They make their own chai, so I often get a chai tea when I go. We also love the savory one pancake that is stuffed with cream cheese and sausage. You cannot be disappointed with anything you order. I always go for brunch, but we would love to go for dinner and even for dessert. They bake their own desserts in house. Also, there’s a garden out back where many of their ingredients are grown, which makes me love this place even more. A MUST!

Ok, I’m a snob when it comes to bloody marys and coffee these days. I just make really good ones at home so if I’m shelling out $ 10, it better be damn good. Well, when you show up here you’ll most likely have to wait a while which is fine because it’s beautiful outside… there’s a garden to peruse… and they’ve got coffee just WAITING for you! I made a nice little mug and by the time I’d finished my first cup, our table was ready. This place isn’t as tiny as Over Easy Café, but they’re using every inch of available space to fit as many people as possible in to this place(can’t blame them). So it’s crowded which means it’s loud. If that’s not your thing, this probably isn’t your place. I, however, enjoy talking to strangers and eaves dropped(sue me!). So that’s just what we did. We chatted it up with the father and son next to us and got the down low on what we should try. I started with a bloody mary and really… it’s was *this* close to perfection. And I don’t say that… ever. I want another one right now just thinking about it! Our meals were amazing. I got the asparagus scramble with fried pancetta and a homemade biscuit and cheesy grits. It was insane. The biscuit… I don’t know what was going on… there was this tinge of sweet, but also salty and buttery and yeah… just everything good in one perfect mound. I understand why this place is crazy busy… but it’s so worth the wait!

Brunch Brunch Brunch! I LOVE Sunny point Café in West Asheville. If you are prepared for a major wait on a Saturday or Sunday then you’re in for a real treat! From their locally cured maple smoked bacon to their megamosas(really big mimosas), this is the best breakfast/brunch spot in all of Asheville. This place has sailed to the top of my list of all-time favorite brunch places. That says a lot, because brunch is my favorite meal of the day. Please don’t be discouraged by the wait time — it speaks volumes to how great this place is. They try to make the process as painless as possible in that they text you when your table is ready — so you’re able to wander around Haywood to kill time. I got the savory French toast. I went back and forth between the shrimp and grits(it looked phenomenal) and the savory French toast — but I was more than happy with my decision. The savory French toast is two slices of thick French toast with a cream cheese, sausage, and sharp cheddar mixture in the middle. The French toast is crispy on the outside but has that warm custardy middle. It’s served with a side of maple syrup and a lovely fruit salad that consisted of apples, bananas, strawberries, blackberries, and fresh pineapple. I also ordered a side of grits — they were wonderfully cheesy and had a kick of heat to them. Everyone in our party loved what they got. My brother in law had the Huevos Rancheros and he nearly licked the plate clean. My sister(who is the pickiest eater on earth) went on about how great her French toast was. Two others had the biscuit sandwiches — they were huge! There was some grumbling about the long wait times amongst us, but everyone agreed that this place was definitely worth it. The service was great. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. There were some Germans in our party and they’d never tried grits — so our waiter brought them out a free sample. The space was small but beautifully decorated and eclectic. This is a must-visit if you’re ever in Asheville.

Have been visiting Asheville for years and just tried Sunny Point Café. My 10 year old said he would give it 5 billion stars if that was possible. We loved the restaurant and will be back. The food was excellent but what was even more important for 5 star restaurants was that the staff was above and beyond friendly and accommodating. Loved the bartender(sweet girl who brought me my Mimosa) and David Jones who could not have been better. He was fun, personable, full of life and overall great.

This is one of those places that when you are visiting you are suddenly tempted to come right back the next day to try our another dish even though the tourist in you wants to explore. Very unique menu and great atmosphere. Dave was our server — very nice guy… helpful but kept it light and definitely has the type personality that embodies the city of Asheville. Had the chicken and waffle sandwich — man it was good! Fries that come with it are a 9.5÷10 on the fry scale, very very good. Wife ordered a la carte a more traditions breakfast. She didn’t love the cornmeal pancake but it was really more just not her thing — you gotta branch out and sometimes it just doesn’t fit perfectly, no biggie! I tried it and liked it but I’m not a big pancake guy. The bacon is interesting… I’m a salty bacon guy and this is a touch on the sweeter side. Its good but if you are wanting the salty stuff you may not love it… but its bacon, so its still good! Great spot, will definitely be back on our next trip!

The restaurant it self is a bit small so large parties might wait a bit. I ate here at the behest of my brother. Wasn’t too thrilled. He enjoys trying new places, and I don’t. Can’t stand it. I’ll eat at a place over and over even if it isn’t terrific, just so I know what I am getting. Well, the only thing that popped out at me was the shrimp and grits. I settled. Well, I’ve never ever ever had shrimp and grits like this. Phenomenal isn’t even close to describing this dish. This place has ruined me. I shall never get shrimp and grits anywhere else. Ever! Lastly, I had a spicy bloody mary. Definitely the best bloody mary I’ve ever had! And no, I don’t work here!

We waited a good long while on a Saturday morning, even though we showed up minutes after they opened. The complimentary coffee outside on the patio was a nice touch, and virtually necessary given how chilly it was. Once we were seated, service was quick and attentive. The food was clearly quality and the menu reflects lots of innovation and creative use of the local ingredients. That being said, I wasn’t thrilled with my breakfast, which was a take on Huevos Rancheros. Huevos Rancheros is a staple where I’m from and this rendition took a few too many liberties. Delicious, but perhaps deserving of a different title.

Asheville wins at the brunch game, for sure. Sunny Point is a must-try for anyone into brunch and they do it right — large, hearty portions and Southern fare WITH healthier options for those who don’t want to stuff themselves with sausage and bacon and the good stuff. It’s crowded though, so expect a wait! It’s also insanely crowded so you’ll be brushing elbows with your fellow diners. I tried their red eye gravy with veggies and potatoes and pulled pork(I can’t remember what the exact dish was called, it was a special), and it was awesome. I loved the veggies and how fresh they all tasted and how I didn’t feel like a total greaseball after the meal. A+ The pancakes were also a hit(sweet potato, I think), as were the Huevos Rancheros(the black bean cakes were unbelievably flavorful). Honestly probably can’t go wrong here with what you order, but definitely expect to wait and it’s not super cheap!

World class Southern cuisine! The kind of food you think about first thing when waking up the next day! There is no reason to make this long so I’ll get to the point. If you are anywhere near Asheville, NC get your butt to this place and experience something memorable. Highly recommend the fried chicken, shrimp and grits, bloody marys and fried apple dessert. ***Feel good breakfast of the year!*** What can I say that hasn’t already been said? Not much. This place has a few one off reviews, mostly related to wait times, but it is worth it. We had a light snack before heading there and enjoyed coffee outside while talking to other people who were also waiting. The staff was super friendly and since there were a few menus floating around outside, once we got called, we ordered immediately! I had the Southern omelet with chipotle cheese grits and a biscuit. The omelet was filled with pimento cheese, crisp bacon, and fresh tomatoes. I could not finish it. You are getting a fantastic value for under $ 11. If you can eat a 4 egg omelet with the sides and two cups of coffee, my hat goes off to you! I also ordered a side of chorizo which was perfectly spicy and I mixed in a bit with my grits. Also on the table were some house made hot sauces that were delicious. I don’t eat biscuits often. They hit me like a mack truck and then I need a nap. I didn’t want to feel too heavy since we were driving back to Columbia, but since the Angel biscuit is famed here, I made the exception. The biscuit is so light and fluffy-WOW Once I started, I couldn’t stop! The mixed berry jam is perfect and not too sweet. We even ordered 3 biscuits with jam for the road!!! This place was the highlight of our weekend as far as meals go, and we hope to hit them up for dinner when we return. Have a snack, then sip coffee or a mimosa, and enjoy the wait. It will be worth it!

Almost 3 years ago, I came here. And now I’m back because of a quick trip to Asheville for the weekend to see friends from Charlotte and to hang out as one big happy family. So this is what I got: The Southern Omelette with more bacon, mushrooms, peppers and onions, garden basil pesto, and Swiss. However, for some reason when I got it, I was questioning that there wasn’t enough bacon… The order of extra bacon didn’t come through. So all in all it was a $ 14 omelette, instead of $ 16, and it was still quite amazing. I still think more bacon would’ve been better though. My friends loved their breakfast and I think this was probably the only places where I would wait 2 hours. I do have to say if you go with a group, it’s probably more fun because you get to hang out with them while waiting outside. One good thing is that you have an option of getting coffee. They bring mugs outside and you keep it and have as many coffees as you want with a tasty brew. I personally didn’t because coffee sort of runs right through me and the fact that I had to drive back 2 hours to Knoxville the coffee wouldn’t be the brightest thing idea. Overall, the wait is long if you go on a Sunday. If you go during a time that’s not more popular, it would be probably be during the middle of the week sometime. If you’re in town, and have time to kill, I would say check this place out. It still holds true to my 4 stars and I definitely enjoyed their omelette. Next thing I have to try is their burgers!

Ok. Let’s break it down. THEBAD: 1-ungodly wait times. I would completely understand if the food was amazing. Unfortunately it’s not really that good. 2-After being seated we waited a solid 15 min for our walking dead server(the personality of a zombie) to take our order & waited & waited, finally, nope not ours, waiting. Yep still waiting. 45 min for 2 omelets. 3 – 10 $ for a pint glass of a decent bloody marry. Mind you decent. Not life changing. Plus 1 $ for a 3inch piece of bacon !!! WTF !! $ 11 bucks total for that. It was good. Mayby $ 7 bucks good. NOWFORTHEMEH 1-Food portions are substantial. That is all for the decent part of this breakfast experience. The southern omelet I got was odly sweet, & drastically under seasoned. The grits were watery & under seasoned The gravy was decent but wait for it «UNDERSEASONED!» So I just don’t see what the hype is about. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. I’m willing to try again, maybe. Honestly what I experienced isn’t worth the wait.

Huevos Fucheros — tofu version of Huevos Rancheros which had black bean cakes, feta cheese, roasted tomatillo salsa, red potatoes, scrambled eggs, cilantro crema, and tortilla strips. I basically had Mexican for breakfast which isn’t a bad thing but I’m not sure if I was in the mood for it. It’s a great breakfast for people that want Mexican though! The chips were crispy and not too salty, the mixture of flavors were savory(I added some heat to spice mine up) Their special drinks looked appetizing but I didn’t order it. Warning — there is a long wait. The waiting area is spacious, has seats, free water and coffee and drinks for sale; they will charge you at your table. I sat at the bar so the wait was only 25 – 30 minutes.

Let’s be honest: It’s pretty hard to have a bad meal in Asheville. I actually have, but, it’s hard to do. And at Sunny Point, you’ll probably have a pretty awesome meal. Definitely 4.5 stars. As a visitor, Asheville appears to be a breakfast town. Having lived in a non-breakfast area for five years, I’ve forgotten what that’s like. So, arriving at 9 a.m. on a Saturday means we were quoted 45−−50 minutes for a party of two, but it ended up being closer to 20. A pretty garden took some of the edge off the wait. Lunch is offered as a well as breakfast, so if you don’t love breakfast, go here. My sister and I got a biscuit, OJ, savory stuffed French toast, bacon, and a fried chicken sandwich on waffles with fries. Was hoping hoping for home fries with the sandwich, to make it slightly more breakfast-y, but the fries were so good, it doesn’t matter. The fried chicken was perfect as well – flavorful, juicy, and crispy. Stacey M. loved her stuffed French toast, which I didn’t try. The bacon was fantastic. The only thing we didn’t love was the biscuit – it could’ve been more buttery, but the jam was good. Staff was friendly, and the café is relaxed and welcoming. Service was on point, and it’s clearly noted that your meal will take a while(and it does). Sunny Point is definitely worth a try when in Asheville.
