My son and I went to Dr Black for an assessment for braces for both of us a couple years ago after hearing a lot of kids raving about him because of all «the cool stuff» they could score as rewards for maintaining their braces. I was so so disappointed. His staff was GREAT, but he was a straight up ass to me. I have had a significant overbite my whole life, and am really insecure about it. When he projected a huge picture of my wonky jaw across the wall, proceded to rattle off about how he’d have to break my jaw, and busted out all this metal gadgetry he’d supposedly have to wire me with, it was understandably shocking… and upsetting. I started to cry and get choked up… and the guy MADE FUN OF ME, saying «Awwwwww…you want a tissue?!» in a baby voice!!! Instead of any kind of empathy or understanding… it was awful. Then gave my Black son a little «See ya, Man» fist bump on the way out (back when only Black people were giving them) that awkwardly screamed «I’m trying in a very phoney way to be liked by you…» which just felt creepy. Don’t fall for the hype, ya’all…he doesn’t deserve your business. And his giving away game consoles and ipads to some lucky winner weekly just means he’s making way too much money off everyone.

Super friendly staff. Dr. Black himself is awesome.
My two older kids had an Orthodontist in Charlotte. That was one of my worries when our family relocated to Asheville. Dr. Black and his staff have been a blessing. My son is having an amazing experience with Dr. Black.

I have been treated by a few orthodontists over the years but never felt any office had my best interest in mind as much as Dr Black and his staff. From my first consultation I felt comfortable and taken care of. Orthodontic treatment as an adult isn’t easy, but Dr Black and his staff are extremely friendly and professional… it puts me at ease… I know I made the right choice by choosing them!
