We just wanted some good ol’ Americanized greasy Chinese food and this fit the bill! Easy to order and pick-up(though they also deliver), and everything was tasty. Not the biggest fan of the dumplings, but the beef with broccoli and orange chicken were great. Huge portions, pretty good prices.

Me being an avid fan of cheap Americanized Chinese food as well as someone who frequents Asheville often, me and China Taste were destiny in the making. Sorry, Oriental Pavillion, you never meant anything to me. It was just convenient. After reading Kipper’s review, I assumed this would be love at first sight. However, I’m sorry, you fell a little short of 5 stars on our first date. Know this though, you are more than worthy of another try. At less than $ 6, you were quite a cheap date. A major plus there. Warming me up with the included wonton soup was a beautiful way to start our luncheon. Things started to get really steamy with your perfectly cooked rice. And although it did get kind of sticky with the scallion chicken, It had been a little while since I engaged in such an activity. So, maybe I was a little quick to finishing, but don’t let that go to your head. It was good, not great. How about next time instead of staying in, I take you out to a nice park. Maybe try some new things ;-)

Actually pretty good(for a take-out in W AVL)…why no more stars? I HATE to feel like I am being taken advantage of… the cashier tried to short-change me. Bad first impression ! ! Was it an honest mistake ???; I think not

Pretty good Chinese food! Although my food arrived piping hot, I’m not a fan of the plastic containers it came in… I just had this feeling that I was ingesting plastic with my Kung Pao chicken. Change your packaging China Taste!

Very good find in a place I would never have looked. In town on business, I knew some decent Chinese takeout would help me stay on my diet, and this place did not disappoint. I had the chicken curry with onions. Very good, almost too hot for me, but it had enough flavor to go with it. I just about licked the container. And the won ton soup was excellent as well. Friendly people. I’ll be back.

Friendly family owned take out style Chinese place sums this local west avl joint up pretty perfectly. It’s menu with lots of standard Chinese takeout favorites, like Singapore Mai fun, beef and broccoli or shrimp with lobster sauce are American Chinese standards, all of which they seem to excel at. These folks are not just Chinese ppl with a restaurant, they are a talented and hardworking family who know how to cook. If you live in west avl you can have your food delivered, always a plus especially when it’s a short wait and its delivered by someone who isn’t just a delivery guy on a scooter but one of the owners. They have a large selection of vegetarian meal options and all the standard favorites I might not have mentioned above. This place blows all the other Chinese takeouts in Asheville out of the water, so don’t waste ur time with the competition like Metro Chinese on Merriman. Go big and hit this hidden gem on State Street!!! Also the online order and payment feature makes this the easiest place in town to order from. Hit the order online tab in the Unilocal listing and it’s a guarantee your food will be ready for you.

The lunch is cheap, but you get what you pay for. The hot and sour soup was basically water and the fried rice had a suspicious yellow tone. Overall it is edible but not good.

So great ! I am Chinese and the dishes here are very decent Chinese dishes! The rice noodle and four season are best I have had in America. 太惊艳了在这样的小地方吃到来美国两年最好吃的炒米粉,还有炒四季和红烧茄子都是一级棒!开惜离我们学校太远了。

My fondest hope is that someday Asheville will get a really good Chinese restaurant, preferably Szechuan-style such as the amazing Gourmet Kingdom in Carrboro. This is not it. However, the food at China Taste, a little take-out spot in West Asheville, isn’t bad. Plus, I give it points for opening in West Asheville and for offering delivery. It’s also quite reasonably priced, given the large servings. I think it opened early in 2015. Rare in Asheville, China Taste offers delivery, but only in West Asheville within about a 3-mile radius of its location on State Street, roughly mid-way between Amboy Road and Haywood Road. The menu boasts, «Chinese Food to Take & Eat in New York Style!» Somehow, though, it doesn’t remind my much of the Chinese take-out and delivery I used to love on New York’s Upper West Side. Some may remember it as the former site of a Cuban sandwich shop and laundrymat and grocery. It also has a few seats if you want to eat at the restaurant. The food is basically Cantonese-American, with all the usual Egg Rolls, Chow Mein, Fried Rice, General Tso’s this and that, twice-cooked this and that, seafood dishes with lobster sauce, Egg Foo Young, Sweet and Sour Chicken, along with a few Szechuan and Hunan-style dishes. There are even a couple of Thai items, such as Pad Thai. Most are not spicy, even those that are rated so. We did take out and ordered a variety of common dishes to see how they compared with other local Chinese options. Among the appetizers, the BBQ pork spare ribs($ 6.95), with the standard red sauce, were tasty and had lots of meat on them. The shrimp dumplings($ 4.95) were pretty good, though next time I’d order the regular dumplings. For main dishes, we had the Orange Chicken($ 10.95), which was not up to even Asheville Chinese standards, in my opinion. The Hunan Beef(small order for $ 5.95) was okay, and the Moo Shu Pork($ 9.25) was light on shredded pork but had delicate very thin pancakes. The String Beans with Garlic Sauce(small order, $ 4.50) were crispy enough, if not very garlicy. Steamed white rice, not anything special, came with most dishes. This big bagful of Chinese totaled $ 45, not including tax. There was plenty enough for three or four meals for two, and in fact, except perhaps for the Orange Chicken, the dishes seemed to improve on the second and even third day. The menu is lengthy, running to well over 125 dishes plus many combination plates and sides. Service is friendly and the meal was ready for pick-up when promised. Bottom line: I’ll probably occasionally get take-out here again, and I appreciate having more Chinese options on the West Side(we have a similar Chinese takeout spot in the Westridge Shopping Center and two Chinese buffet places and probably a couple of other spots), but I’m still dreaming of Gourmet Kingdom, with its tasty, uberhot Szechuan that brings tears to my eyes.

Oh man. This is is definitely my new Chinese take out and DELIVERY spot. Whoa, that’s a lot of capital letters. I felt like Kanye West writing a tweet for a second there. But I have to tell you, I’m downright excited about how easy it is to order delivery from China Taste. How easy? How about a complete menu online, including basic descriptions of most items, the ability to take credit cards, tip, and schedule your delivery for whatever time suits you best. That’s right… it’s 5:00pm, you have friends coming over and you want your Chinese food delivered to your door piping hot at 8:15pm for a night of bad movies? You got it. Bam. Seriously. Our order arrived EXACTLY at 8:15pm, to the point where I was wondering if the driver was doing some laps around the neighborhood to burn off some extra time and walk up to our doorstep at the exact moment 8:14 became 8:15. The food is great. Please don’t expect anything world changing, this is very traditional American fast-food Chinese, including the baby corn. Got a problem with baby corn? I don’t, it’s delicious and wonderfully silly. The ingredients are fresh, and well prepared. In fact, BBQ pork from the twice cooked pork were big thick tender slices. a real winner. I have nothing but positive things to say about this place. Super pleasant experience. — — – addendum — — – Upon referencing my menu I’ve come to find that China Taste has a delivery radius of 3 miles. I hope this doesn’t make you too jealous if you’re living outside of the delivery area.

Finally. A consistently good Chinese take out in West Asheville! Ordering by phone is easy and they’ll let you customize dishes. I regularly request things like preparing a dish with white sauce or black bean sauce ISO regular brown sauce, or adding ginger or scallions. No problem. The food is really really good. Crispy crunchy veggies. Well seasoned dishes. Adequate variety. You can order a bunch of small size entrees($ 3-$ 4 apiece) and patch together a fun feast. We like the steamed specials from the Healthy Menu with the sesame sauce/dressing. Very flavorful! Their steamed dumplings are the best in town. Thicker than usual wrappers mean they’re homemade and the meat stuffing is flavorful, unlike pre-made ones. And any of the entrees paired with eggplant are fantastic! Unctuous strips of eggplant holding their shape and texture. So far delivery has been amazingly quick! Fellow WAVL neighbors, give this place a try.

This place has the best Chinese takeout I’ve had in Asheville! It always tastes fresh and reminds me of take out from New York. I’ve never actually been to the location, we always get delivery but it’s so delicious! It’s also reasonably priced which is a definite plus!
