cumbia, salsa, Dia de los Muertos alter, so cool! This is a nice music venue and art gallery, the bartender I dealt with was very friendly and sympathetic to my plight as a temporarily displaced Superstorm Sandy evacuee from the coast of New Jersey. Met a lot of cool people here on a night with Latin music; a diverse mix of Latinos and non-​Latinos, met people from Peru, Mexico, Costa Rica. There was an impressive alter set up for Dia de los Muertos. A great place.

Great Location where you can also watch people walking by through the large windows the length of this establishment and yu can view the Art and happenings from the outside looking in as well.

Small and cozy bar on Lexington. With not a lot of seating at the bar, it could either be really crowded or (in the case of when I visited) really laid back as there was only a couple of other people in the bar at any one time. So, apart from some fun latin music, it doesn’t offer much more unless they’re playing music in the side gallery. It was also a bit warm on a August night — the big, open windows help bring in some breeze, but they may not have A/​C or have it turned on. Either way, the fun décor (ex. flower paintings with skulls), the neat wooden bar and upbeat music make it a cozy place to grab a drink before bar hopping downtown.

Depending on who is bartending, this can be a decent experience. There are very often some really cool shows here. However, I find the space claustrophobic and it’s hard to see the stage because of that weird wall in the middle. I wish they had some cheap beer options, too, but they always run out of the one case that they buy.
The clientele seem to think very few people are cool enough to even look in the windows, and maybe they are right.

Without a doubt one of my top favorite places to go out in Asheville. Love the vibe, the people, the music, the drinks and the location.

BoBo is my favorite place to get a drink downtown. The atmosphere is usually laid back, the music is generally pretty good, but you never know who is going to be there unless you go in and ask. They let me play music here once with by just asking if the schedule was free the night before! There is a constantly changing line-​up of art on the walls. Sometimes there are sweet dance parties, and movie showings.
There is no liquor, but a full beer and wine selection. And AMAZING sake cocktails, and recently, blueberry/​pomegranate SAKE SLUSHIES. yeah, thats right. I wish I could drink these all the flippin’ time. Actually, I think I’m gonna go drink one after work tonight. A++!!

My favorite Asheville bar! This San Francisco-​style gallery/​bar maintains the Asheville tradition of it’s namesake — the «Bohemian bourgeois». Catering to a wide variety of fringe musical tastes, the venue/​gallery/​bar tends to keep a pretty steady population of regulars. With a great wine selection, a nice concise variety of micro-​brews both on tap and in bottle, sake selections and a coffee bar, the libations flow abundantly. There is always a rotation of great artists on display and there is usually a great vibe to the patrons. It’s definitely the Asheville neighborhood bar. A neighborhood bar for a «different» kind of town.

Great colorful atmosphere, live music, and lively crowd with zero attitude. A New Yorker visiting Asheville for the first time, I felt this place transcended most «jazz-​galleria» bars in NYC. There was a seemingly popular Latin jazz band playing the night I was there, and so it seemed a good mix of people came out for the fun. Their expressions and dance were brought to life by the music and drink. There was such a good energy about the place it gave me (at the risk of sounding overly sentimental) a warm fuzzy sensation and reminded me of why I like to travel south of the border. So if you can’t get to Columbia or Brazil anytime soon, make plans for a night here when there is a Latin band playing. I was told they have a variety of good bands booked nightly, so get there and drink up!
