P & J’s Diner

Nice little meat & 2 diner on the northern edge of Asheboro serving all 3 meals, 6 days a week. They have a daily special or 2, standard menu items like: Chicken Livers, Country Style Steak, Salmon Patties, Country Ham, Grilled Chicken, and Smothered Chicken — runs $ 5. 29 to $ 6.99 with 2 veggies and bread. Veggies are the usual suspects. Also usual sandwiches, fried seafood plates ($ 8 or $ 9), Spaghetti, and a bowl of Pintos with onions & hushpuppies for $ 3.49 — really nice.
Plates are generally good — Like the Chicken Livers & CS Steak, especially. Fried seafood is a little inconsistent, but when it is good, it is good. Chili dog is not really good — thin chili with a somewhat strange taste, and the onions can be very strong (costs $ 1,69). Cheeseburger is excellent, great flavor, and priced righat $ 2.79.
Nothing fancy here, food or décor, but solid place with good, friendly service, very reasonably priced. Give it a shot.

Just a decent southern dive. Daily specials usually have at least a couple good choices and the desserts are solid. I haven’t had anything here that’s changed my life or anything but it’s not a bad spot to stop for lunch.
