Excellent Salon. Best Service, the owner Cathleen is so friendly and accommodating. Very professional staff, very clean and so professional. Love it !!!

I sometimes see Jessica as my backup stylist who happens to be out until next month. So, I scheduled with Alaysia today at 3pm, and I sat in the waiting room until 330. She finally calls me back & states she doesn’t have time for a full relaxer that I had previously scheduled. I reminded her that she is 30 mins late, so how is that you don’t have the time — that’s your fault.
She proceeds to tell me that she’s alone and blah blah. Doesn’t work for me.
This js the second hiccup I’ve experienced at this place, and I will return to my regular stylist in Maryland.
I left with my money still in my pocketbook and nothing in hers.
What a waste of my time and now I’ve missed an hour of work messing around with this girl. Bye Modern Concepts.

Just got the best haircut ever from Angela.
I came in with a pic of Jennifer Aniston and some general details, and left with the best version of what i was asking for. 5 star haircut, easy.
During my visit i was hardcore checking the place out, despite having been here several times before. Two things i noticed this visit.
1: the place is modern with many classic notes. It gives a high end appeal without feeling snobby or sterile. It feels indulgent, and welcome.
2. There are some seriously cute people working here! The entire place is bustling with some very fashion-​savvy people, but they all are very diverse in style. They also all seemed pretty happy about working here. I felt very comfortable and pleasant in this environment.
Bottom line: this place made me happy today, and my haircut from Angela will make me happy for months. My husband and daughter also get haircuts here.

Amazing experience every time I go! The salon is very clean and the front desk staff are extremely accommodating and helpful. Anna Michelle is a miracle worker. My hair looks better than it ever has. She listened to exactly what I wanted and also gave her professional opinion which I really appreciated and it turned out better than I imagined. I can’t wait to come back! :)

I went for a simple up-​do today, I forgot the lady’s name who did it, but I left almost in tears. It looked absolutely NOTHING like what I asked for, I had to ask her to smooth out the sides because they were literally bumpy and then I asked to have all my hair up because it doesn’t hold a curl and she still left pieces down in the back curled.
I went and did a few errands and I realized when I got home I just wasn’t happy at all. I called back and told the salon that I wasn’t happy, they asked me to come back in so they could fix it. I went back, immediately, and was greeted by one of the co-​owners of the salon. No questions asked she fixed my hair quickly and made sure I was VERY satisfied this time. I left with the biggest smile on my face and looking glamorous. I couldn’t be happier with my hair and the owner was so sweet and helpful. They have gained a forever client because no one has ever gone so above and beyond!

A little pricey but for someone with thick eyebrows, it’s tough to get someone to wax them the way I like it. I have been going to Julie for years and she does an amazing job. Haircuts are a little overpriced but Sylvia does a nice job if you have thick and curly hair. The staff is also really nice

Amazing salon! Ayda was my hair stylist and not only did she do a great job, she also really made sure that I knew what I was getting done and that I was satisfied with the end result. I will definitely be back!

Totally enjoyed the express great service reasonably priced as long as you get a new stylist it can get pricey at the higher level Stylist I got a great head massage they offered me drinks and it was of great Way to destress

The reception area is very welcoming; clean, well decorated and lit, with a friendly receptionist. It is a very beautiful salon.
However, my experience was less than satisfactory. I went in to get a haircut and blowout before a reunion dinner with some and a very specific look in mind. My stylist (whose name I am kicking myself for not remembering) completely disregarded what I wanted, shot down all of my ideas, stating that they would not suit me because this and that and did not even attempt accommodation. She then went to work, not explaining anything she was doing. I left the salon looking like a child! I’m pretty sure I had the same haircut at age 13.
I understand though that these things aren’t permanent. I mean, it wasn’t what I wanted but it didn’t look bad, and my hair grows fast so no harm done.
That was not what upset me. What I found ridiculous was the pricing. I paid more than $ 100 not including tip because apparently my hair was ‘hard to work with’. It’s absolutely too much to demand for subpar service. I would suggest you look elsewhere for equally as harmless but mediocre results.

I love this salon. The ambiance is warm and relaxing, and you are offered a choice of beverages immediately upon arriving by their friendly staff at the front desk. The shampoo… the shampoo was the best and most relaxing I have ever had. I wish I could come in just to get a shampoo and have a glass of wine. :-) I went to Anna Michelle, one of the owners of the salon. She listened carefully to my concerns, checked out my pictures, understood exactly what I wanted, and what was right for my type of hair. I walked out with my hair looking better than it has in months, soft, shiny, and exactly as I had pictured it. A wonderful experience, I highly recommend.

The salon is comfortable and pleasant looking but I haven’t had luck with the stylists. This could be a nice place. The people at the front desk are friendly and helpful. I’ve tried two stylists at this salon. One did a mediocre hair cut and a great job with color. The other senior stylist gave me a horrible cut and really bad color. She ignored everything I said. I asked her not to cut too much length on my hair and it is now shorter than it has been in decades. It’s uneven. I also tried to give input about the color and that was ignored. It is the worst cut and color I’ve had in my life. And she was loud, rude, and reeked of cigarettes.

Pear does an excellent job! Very nice salon! Staff was super friendly and manicure and pedicure were great! Will recommend everyone I know to her.

They do a good job as do many salons. My complaint is the misrepresentation of price. I called ahead and got one price, then after my treatment (Foil) I was at the register and it was twice as much. I had a full foil and some color painted in. Another misrepresentation is during the shampoo — they put in all kinds of ointments and «shine» and charge you quite a lot for it and don’t tell you it is happening. Very unethical. Women need to really examine the charges closely.

I haven’t been back in a few years but after several visits at another local Ashburn Salon and Medspa, I’m glad I did. The atmosphere was better, wine was higher quality, staff incredible, and service prices reasonable. Angela fixed my less than desirable highlight and color job from the «other place». I look forward to a long relationship with Angela and Modern Concepts. Her technical skill and sweet personality put you right at ease.

I had the most amazing experience at Modern Concepts. From the moment you walk in you know you’ve come to the right place! The front desk ladies greeted me with a smile and were very polite and professional.
My hair stylist Anna Michelle and Leslie took me back promptly. We discussed exactly what I wanted for my new hair style, cut and color. They were very involved in my whole experience! I brought in pictures of what I wanted, and as a very high maintenance customer i felt at ease right away.
After my hair color was applied I then had my hair washed which was a whole experience in itself. It wasn’t just any ordinary hair wash, I had a full scalp massage which felt so amazing and relaxing!
I’m always trying to grow my hair long and I’m use to stylist cutting off my hair which devastates me. my hair was trimmed just perfectly without taking off too much length at all.
My hair was styled with so much shine and volume ! It was exactly what I was looking for and I absolutely love it!
I will definitely be returning, the whole experience was just fabulous!

I’ve been to Modern Concepts several times now, for both cuts and color, and I’ve seen 3 different stylists. Angela is my favorite, and I always try to book with her. I’ve been happy with all of the work she’s done on my hair, but I can’t say the same for the other 2 stylists. One gave me a cut that was entirely meh, which I was so unimpressed with that I ended up getting it re-​cut. The other gave me some strategically placed color to cover up a few grays in a couple spots, but the color she mixed that was supposed to match my natural hair color, didn’t. It was close, but different enough that you can tell the difference. So it looks like I have patches of dark brown against my otherwise almost-​black hair.
Everyone is very friendly and professional there, most/​all of the folks who shampoo my hair throw in a fabulous scalp massage, and I love that they always offer drinks and snacks (hey, it’s the little things, too). So if you can find a stylist that you like, it’s a place worth sticking with, imo. My advice is to check out their stylist bio page here:
This page lists all of their staff members. If you click on anyone’s picture, it provides a description of that person’s specialties, plus a ranking level in terms of how experienced they are. For me, I’ve found that I only want to trust my hair with a «Level 4» or higher stylist. The other stylists that I tried but wasn’t happy with were Level 2 or below. Of course, keep in mind that the higher the level, the more expensive it’ll be. Just depends on what you’re looking for. Overall, it’s a good salon worth a return visit!
Edit: I just remembered that I have actually seen 4 different stylists here! The fourth stylist had a high level of experience, but I have to be honest, I wasn’t jazzed about the results. The way she did my color was sloppy — I have a section of bleached hair, but she wasn’t as careful as I wished she had been about trying to make sure that she applied color to the bleached section only. Instead, she ended up putting color on top of enough adjacent hair that the end result didn’t look as clean as it should have. I still rank this salon as a 4 for all of the other reasons mentioned, and the fact that I’ve been happy with Angela.

Very nice salon with excellent service. You are greeted in a nicely furnished waiting area by reception. Unlike most places like this you do not have to wait to be acknowledged upon your entrance. Immediately they ask you what you would like to drink including teas and mimosas. Once in and your coat is checked you are having some sort of refreshment and being taken back to your treatment area. Each area is well defined and very clean. Even the employee break room is well lit and clean. I highly recommend this place if you like a moderately priced well run salon. Kudos to the owners, management and staff. Something for everyone here. There are many services to choose from including makeup, eyebrow and eyelash tinting… Check it out!

Margaret is one of the nicest and most talented hair dressers I have had the pleasure of meeting. About a year ago we had just moved to Leesburg and my then 12 year old daughter wanted her hair cut before the first day of school. I don’t know what exactly was wrong with the lady that «cut» her hair but when my husband brought her home I was struggling with my own set of tears as she sobbed in my arms. I have never seen such a butchery. The lady had actually managed to maintain her waist long hair AND give her side burns and virtually no bangs. You can imagine the panic of a young girl about to have her first day at a new school. A good friend recommended Margaret and I called ready to beg for an emergency appointment. This kind woman didn’t make me grovel. Instead she immediately shifted things around to get us in and I still am amazed at whatever magic she must possess because my daughter was transformed and smiles returned. Ever since then Margaret has been the trusted caretaker of all my children as well as myself. Her talents extend well beyond teens to all the more particular hair needs of us moms. She is additionally extremely engaging and fun to talk too. My children and I feel as if we are visiting a friend every time we go in and we look forward to our appointments both because we look better after and because we feel great after spending time with her.
I have also enjoyed facials and pedicures here with equally talented, warm, and enjoyable service.

I see Ayse for microderm and she is excellent. Always professional, doesn’t try to push sell me anything, and always leaves my skin amazing! The salon is beautiful, always clean and the ladies at the front are always warm and friendly.

Came here on a recommendation and glad I went! I have unruly curly hair that I don’t trust with just anyone.
First, the space clean and bright. The staff is really nice and you get offered a drink right on the spot, which is always nice. If I never made it out of the shampoo area, I would have been a happy girl. The scalp massage was heaven.
My appointment was with Alexa who couldn’t have been sweeter. She really understood my hair and took the time to explain what she was doing. She even has you come back for a complimentary check up a few weeks later.
Oh and the best part? They charge half as much as my old salon so I’ll definitely be coming back!
