Banjara has been advertised almost in every flyer/coupon book/Clipper Magazine in Ashburn. We had a certificate so decided to use it. We love Indian food and go to many Indian restaurants in town. This was out first visit at Banjara. When we walked in on New Year’s Eve the place had only a few table occupied. We were seated promptly and my husband commented on the décor. It was nice, however we couldn’t say the same about the carpet. Very dirty and old. We were seated in a booth and I believe the manager himself was our server. He was assisted by a busboy who must have just started because he was so awkward it was uncomfortable! We ordered several items and everything tasted good, except that we didn’t get an appetizer(samosas) and a side(mango chutney) that we ordered. Additionally, I didn’t get what I ordered for my main dish! I didn’t want to make a big deal because what I received for dinner was actually very good. But I did remind them that we ordered samosas and mango chutney. They brought mango chutney(which was very bad, btw), but never did they serve us the samosas. However, when the bill came we were charged for the samosas. I called the manager and I told him we ordered the samosas, but we never got them. He acted surprised. Really, Sir… I am going to debate you over $ 4.95 on my bill when I am paying well over $ 80! Perhaps writing our order down would have helped the matter since he just«memorized» it. So, the bottom line, the food was good, but not good enough to make us come back and to make up for all the little annoyances.

I feel compelled to write a review to give my props to the staff and especially the kitchen crew for a meal made in heaven: we had Chicken Vindaloo and Chicken Biryani, both spicy and both delicious! No other Indian restaurant in the area can compete with them so check them out.

When I walked in, I wasn’t sure whether one seats themselves or not so I walked to the bar where I saw a gentleman behind the counter. Conversation goes as follows: Me: Hi, I’m here for the lunch buffet. Guy: Ok? Me: Do I just seat myself? Guy: *nods* and continues doing what he was doing, which was nothing, btw. I walk over and sit then get up to go fix my plate. Same guy comes back takes the extra place settings off my table(all without saying a word) and when I asked him for water he still without saying anything brings the water, fills it up and walks away. The lunch buffet was not as tasty as I anticipated. I came at noon and their offerings looked like they’ve been sitting out for longer than they should as lunch starts around 11am.

Bought a groupon for this place and went there on a Tuesday night. It was really empty but I didn’t mind since I would be served very quickly. We ordered samosa chaat for appetizer and it was pretty decent. I loved the crunchy samosa. For entrée, we tried vegetarian dishes for a change and had the mushroom masala and paneer tikka masala and it was delicious. The mushroom masala was flavorful and mouthwatering. It was definitely one of the best. For dessert, we tried the carrot halwa and oh my! It was so good that I was fighting over it. It didn’t have any khoya(milk product) in it but it was still really delicious. It was not too sweet but just enough. We will definitely be back.

Great food! They serve a lot too! I got the curry chicken with rice and there was a loooot of rice. Next time I won’t order extra rice. Unless you’re like me and was able to eat for the next 3 days with the amount they sent. I would say money well spent! The garlic naan bread could have been better though. Kinda plain and flavorless for my taste. Nonetheless great but spicyyyy even in medium.

We went for dinner and want to use our groupon coupon. But he was giving some nonsense answers and did not accept the coupon. Actually we went there fee weeks ago and wanted to use our coupon but he said we ordered one item extra so he does not take the coupon. He mentioned we have to order exactly what is on the coupon ie one apetizer, two entrees and onw dessert. So we did as on mentioned the coupon but this time he gave different answer. He said groupon is not paying them and some other nonsense reasons. Also he did not serve Papad’s which they used to do, when I asked he said they forget sometimes because too many customers. Irony is that only two more people present in the restaurent, total 5 customers.

We went for buffet lunch today Oct 15. Hour before closing, they were out of most food, even when we asked they brought out few items but not enough for everyone. Food quality was poor, with poor service. At the end when we gave him Groupon, waiter made excuses and allowed to discount for the amount we paid but did not honour the groupon purchase. We will not be going back again, be careful of food quality and purchasing their deals.

Service is good, food is very good, and the prices are reasonable. All the food is served hot, and is very tasty. Went with co-workers that are from India, and they were very impressed. Went for dinner, and seating as fine. Waiters are attentive, and the manager comes by and checks to ensure everything is fine. Tandoori is done perfect, vindaloo is nice and spicy, and the naan are perfect!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOWAY! I came on the recommendation and immediately wasn’t impressed with the selection and then I found a hair baked into the naan which was actually really good. At first I thought maybe it was mine and tried to remove it but it was baked into the bread!!! I showed the guy and left! The food was extremely mediocre at best! It was cold too at 12:30. There were only two other people in the restaurant which should’ve been my first clue. I LOVE Indian food too!!! I was also done with my first plate before they brought the naan which was a little frustrating but it was so good and HOT so I figured I could let it go until the hair!!! The restaurant I wanted to try was closed today which is why I asked for a recommendation. So disappointing!!!

This place has the best Indian fare outside of DC. Maybe the management has changed but the Nann; starters and veggie options have improved over the past year. Only complaint I had was the spicy Vindaloo was mild on a UK scale. Get the Onion Bahji

We used to love this place. Apparently the owners changed. Had terrible food and service. So much so that the manager gave me 4 desserts to go. No one in my family ate them. While we were eating a chef was out front with a leaf blower in his chef gear and then walked back in apparently to go cook? Gross!

Food was ok ok, but they tried to trip us over the Unilocal deal adding additional restrictions. Unilocal was good enough to refund us our money back. Wouldn’t go there again

Consistently DELICIOUS! Bankers never fails to deliver on very good Indian food. The restaurant is decorated very nice, it is very clean, the wait staff is very friendly and attentive. Buffet is till 1400 Monday — Friday. I have never ordered from the menu because I just am not that familiar with Indian dishes. The buffet let’s me try it all. Reasonably priced, fantastic food, and consistent.

To put it simply: beats Angeethi by a long shot. My family and I are not going to Angeethi’s anymore now that we have found this little gem in an Ashburn plaza. The chicken tikka tandoori is behind phenomenal; it’s consistently served piping hot and isn’t tough like I find other chicken dishes at other Indian restaurants to be like. There is also a friendly lady with glasses who always greets us in, whose name I will be sure to find out the fifth time I go. :) So happy to have found this place!

First time here! Only Complaint was the chicken for the buttered chicken was shredded instead of chunk pieces. The lamb boti kabob was deliscious! All in all the food was very flavorful and very yummy! Wouldnt have known about this place if it wasnt for the livingsocial deal.

The food here at Banjara is very consistent and high quality. We often stop by for our fill of Indian cuisine and love the garlic naan. There is a perceptible change in the management as other Unilocalers have described but the food quality does not seem to have suffered. I had the mulligutawny soup and it was delicious. I also had mushroom masala, very good, and finally shrimp vindaloo. All very delicious. In Ashburn, I think this is the place to come for Indian cuisine.

This review is purely on the lunch buffet. SX and I made it out here for a weekday lunch. There were a few tables, but not enough for kitchen to keep turning over the food, despite some of the buffet entrees looking a bit like slim pickings. In addition, I’m unsure if you have to pay extra for naan(I never experienced that at any Indian lunch buffet either), but we weren’t asked if we wanted a basket of it until the very end of the meal. The palak chaat and the lemon rice were probably the highlights out of the buffet offerings. The palak chaat was extremely crisp due to the dusting of chick pea flour and was the crispest fritter I had at an Indian buffet in awhile. The lemon rice was refreshing and the rice was cooked perfectly. The addition of whole peanuts makes for a nice crunch factor. There aren’t that many impressive offerings in this buffet. Overall, their dishes here are quite mild and overly creamy. The palak paneer and butter chicken was extremely rich in heavy cream and lacking in flavor, so all you had left after eating a bite was the cloying mouth feel of full fat dairy. This makes the meal quite heavy.
