Disappointment becomes a restaurant at Lee’s Family Diner. Despite the festive white and red exterior the ramp had loose planks that made it slightly treacherous. The décor consisted of clearly amateur wall murals that looked unfinished, I hope they were unfinished. Clearly they were going for 50’s diner, but they missed the mark. I ordered a Chicken Salad Sandwich, French Fries, and a Coca-Cola. The Chicken Salad Sandwich supposedly comes with chips, when I asked if I could substitute fries at a discount for the chips, my server told me that the manager said no as the chips were included in the meal. Also the deep fryer wasn’t heated so they couldn’t make my fries. I opted for mashed potatoes instead. The Coca-Cola(which was bottomless) was flat. I saw the server get the soda from the fountain, so there must be something wrong with the fountain machine. The chicken salad sandwich was served on white bread, with a piece of lettuce, no tomato, no nothing. The bread was the cheapest white bread from Walmart, and it was pretty light on the chicken salad. The chicken salad itself was bland and tasteless, no herbs, no spices, no flavor. The mashed potatoes were instant, and lacked all flavor. Clearly the cook took instant potatoes, added water, stirred and that was it. No herbs, no dairy, no spices, no flavor. The chips were mysteriously absent from the plate. I will never return to that restaurant. The service was fast, friendly, and attentive. The problems fall squarely in the kitchen and on the management. The quality would have to greatly improve to get me to return.
