It’s about time that somebody put a Dollar Tree store out in Arvin, a local community with an economy fueled by local farms and the people who work on them. Many of these people operate on a family budget so small that many of us can’t even comprehend how they make ends meet, and gas is too expensive to continually make trips into Bakersfield to go shopping. Dollar Tree carries a wide variety of items, all at $ 1(or less) each. Now Arvin residents have an affordable local option to meet many of their everyday household needs. Dollar Tree carries everything you need for those special celebrations: greeting cards, party supplies(cups, plates, napkins, party favors, and decorations), wrapping supplies(gift bags and boxes, wrapping paper, tissue paper, bows, and ribbons), even party favors for the kids. I found towers full of reading glasses and sunglasses that would cost from $ 5-$ 15 if purchased elsewhere. There are all kinds little toys to entertain the kids. I spent quite a bit here on toys to put in the prize box of my kindergarten classroom. Speaking of classrooms, Dollar Tree also has a small section of teacher friendly items in their«Teachers’ Corner» and an aisle full of office /school supplies. I picked up some colorful sentence strips and mini pocket charts to use during center time in my classroom. If you’re looking for cleaning supplies for your house they carry a wide variety of cleansers, sprays, sponges, and wipes to get keep your house spotless. When you’re done with the housecleaning, you can clean yourself with soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, and toothpaste, not to mention hair products, brushes, headbands, and barrettes. Yes, some of these are off-brands, but they also carry major brands such as Colgate, Aim, Close-Up, White Rain, and others, and all at the same low price of $ 1 each. They also carry picture frames, candles, incense, pet supplies, automotive supplies, some light hardware items. There are plates, cups, bowls, plastic storage containers, and kitchen gadgets galore. There are aisles full of food, too, and even candy. Many of the candy bars such as Milky Way, snickers, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups to name a few are $.79 instead of a dollar, though the larger boxes and bags of things such as Milk Duds and Hot Tamales are $ 1. There are so many bargains to be found at Dollar Tree. Whether you’re open to shopping off brand items or prefer to stick to names you already know and trust, you’ll find much to help you stay within even the most limited budgets here. And that’s something this community really needs.
