This place was cool, never been in an antique /thrift shop like it. The basement was equal parts awesome and scary. So dark and quiet, no one down there but us! I REALLY enjoyed the digging aspect, but didn’t find much I needed. I did grab a bag of jewelry that had a vintage bangle bracelet I liked, and a sad eye Japanese kitty figurine. Paid less than $ 5 total. I’ll definitely come back, but with the husband again because it’s a little quiet and spooky downstairs!

This, my friends, is currently the best free floor show in town. If you have time to waste, this is the place to be. In the past several months this shop has decayed into a 10,000 square foot DUMPSTER filled with junk everywhere(make sure your tetanus shot is up to date before you visit, I’m begging you). Step past the front area and you’ll be in hoarder’s heaven, with rooms filled with shards of broken crap and piles of trash growing toward the ceiling. To be fair, I visited Thriftiques when they first opened. At that time they offered a few good finds at decent prices. But now the real reason to visit is the bizarre entertainment featuring the jaw-dropping antics of the owner, who is more interested in spewing his extreme political opinions to anyone who will listen, rather than actually selling anything. Bring up a topic even remotely political, stand back, and watch the fireworks. It’s pretty hysterical, in all senses of the word. Unfortunately, as a businessman, his antics block his potential customers from actually BUYING anything. During my last(definitely last) time there, I was looking for a desk. They had almost no furniture, so I found some cool old postcards instead. I waited nearly 10 minutes(not an exaggeration) in front of the cash register while the owner lamented to his friends about his sad, sad, life. All I wanted was the postcards, so I waited patiently while he rambled on and on and on. And I kept thinking, «doesn’t this guy want me to buy something?» Then I realized that I was just standing as a hostage, just another schmuck who was wrangled into being part of the owner’s ragtag audience. At last I bought the cards — only after he haggled with me over 50 cents — and I was finally on my way. I was frustrated at first. But now I realize… between the owner and the characters around the register, I just got a great, if sad, show for a few quid. So, despite my negative review, I highly, and seriously, RECOMMEND that you visit Thriftiques. Why? If you want amusement while you shop for some the cheapest-cheap junk in town, with an owner to match, then this is your place for an afternoon’s worth of pure, and free, entertainment. Just walk in, ask a couple questions, and you’re off and running. Make sure you take a trip downstairs to the«flea market» basement, too. Trust me. It’s fun! I hear the place is closing soon… so act now!

As a buyer and a seller, I love this place. We had some«extra» stuff clogging up the house and managed to get a fair price from the guy who runs the place. When I was in there selling an antique table, I noticed several items that I had to have. As a coin collector and a railroad enthusiast, I found some really great items at Thriftiques. I have browsed the store on four different occasions and always see different stuff. The guy behind the counter is friendly and fair. I’m surprised by the negative review on here as I found the place to far exceed other antique stores in the area on cleanliness, selection and customer service. Five stars from me.

OMG, what a bunch of whiny pansies. Hey folks, it’s a thrift shop in the basement. It’s going to be disorganised and maybe a little dirty. Heaven help us, we might get our hands dirty. This guy is doing many jobs by himself. give him a break. His place is what diggers fantasise about. I LOVE it. Dig in and find a treasure.

Ugh. I really do wish them luck and that they’re suffering the plague of being a new(ish) business that needs to grow into itself – hope they make enough working capital to be able to invest in some lighting that doesn’t buzz. I was actually really hopeful when I saw this place open, and finally took some time over the holidays to go explore with Hubs. The upstairs is similar to other antique malls; I assume they’re renting out little booths to private sellers here. Pretty haphazard and disorganized and goes off in little weird mousetrap paths that are dimly lit and uninviting, but seems relatively well tended. But good grief, the basement area that they’re so proud of(and has twice the inventory of the street level area) is so cluttered and packed that it was like a scene of a cheap slasher movie. Not a lot of rhyme or reason; just stuff everywhere and boxes and shelves and hanging closet rods and… golly, I just want to go wash my hands right now. Just someone’s hoarder attic and basement and 80’s wardrobe and 70’s paperback collection, cheap old holiday discards and mismatched jelly jars… all simmered together in that weird aroma of old age and contempt. You gotta wade through and dig and figure out whether the thing you find is broken or rusted and whether its matching components are in the next box or next«aisle» or non-existent. Never saw an employee. We didn’t know about the whole«make an offer» pricing approach, and us being quiet folks, we just left without making a purchase when we couldn’t find any prices or staff. Fled, actually. If I were to guess, I would say this business is half renting booths to little mom and pop antique vendors, and the other half being in the business of buying unpaid storage units, selling off the skimmed valuables they find(apparently on ebay), and leaving the boxes of what remains to «treasure hunters» to dig through and fend for themselves, down in that basement. Just a guess. Not a lot of effort for the retail side here, is the how the whole business read to us. Made me feel badly for the private vendors who appear to be trying hard despite this. It would take a lot to convince us to return, but I do truly wish the business luck and would like to offer the suggestion that they put a professional organizer on salary, and perhaps someone who specializes in interior lighting and aromatherapy. And Fung Shui. That, and consider investing in a couple cheap packs of price stickers.

This thrift store offers a wide selection of items, primarily focused on home goods and antiques. It seems to be a co-op of several vendors, so if you don’t see what you are looking for(or the price you’re looking for) keep moving to the next vendor space down the isle or downstairs. There are quite a few great finds and it is worth the stop if you are a deal hunter.

After reading Janelle’s post, I feel compelled to refute her feedback. Simply put: I love this place. Never any«antics» or «hassle.» Dan and his staff are both knowledgeable and fair — prices are amazing and the inventory is constantly changing. Don’t like what you see? Just come in a few day later and you’re bound to fall in love with the new stock. I live in CT, however, travel to Denver often; when I’m in the area, I make it a priority to visit Thriftiques.

Visited this place many times to try and give it a fair shot… Owner sells on eBay and often doesn’t price items so when you ask a price they research eBay then decide on a «fair» price. Although that seems harmless it’s extremely annoying when you find things you’d be interested in only to find its all about the money. I have bought a few things here I will not lie, however, I only stop once every few months as it just isn’t worth the added hassle of their antics. There are many other places with lots of GREAT stuff, vintage and antiques… I would rather frequent before shopping here frequently.

There is such thing as overstocked! This place is cluttered with junk in the basement. And the upstairs is so expensive for second hand items. The owner was rude to me. Believe me avoid this place.
