Driving through Arthur on a Sunday evening, noting that all the Amish places are closed, La Cascada stood out with cars in front and people outside. OK, the décor is homemade and a bit run-down, but some of the best Mexican food can be obtained in places like that. About half the diners were speaking Spanish, with a mix of Amish and other locals as well. The menu is long, with a whole page of specialties. I had Pollo Acapulco: 2 thin chicken breasts, about 6 shrimp, a nice cheese sauce, grilled veggies, and the usual rice/beans. The cheese sauce was not just molten Chihuahua cheese, but had better texture and spicing and went well with the meat/veggies. My wife had a burrito and enchilada with a sweet sauce, and veggies, lettuce, tomato on top. The waiter was friendly. Diners were enjoying the summer evening outside after dinner. Not bad for a small town in Amish country on a Sunday.
