Four stars for the customer service. Food can be lower than four. Restaurant is big and clean. Good for family and friends. I would still recommend this place.

Lots of familiar spices with new taste along the way. If you like Indian food, you will want to try this! Chicken Tikka Masala was some of the best chicken I’ve ever had. Aloo achaar and mango chutney standout also.

We went to Tara’s Himalayan Cuisine. We ordered Chow Chow and 2 Nepali Thalis with Chicken and goat meat. We got gulab jamun for kids and rice pudding for us. Kids loved Chow Chow and Thalis were great. It was homely great quality food. We are coming again for sure.

I love this place! The food is so tasty, the service excellent and the waiter seems to predict what we need. This place should be busier given their class of service. My favorites are the lamb biryani, fish curry and of course mango lassi. You won’t be disappointed.

The Norwalk location was very nice and cozy with warm vibes from the very courteous staff. The food was served on stainless steel trays cafeteria style which took me by surprize but who cares it keep my sides all separate and in front of me but I loved it. They have a buffet too so that explains this. It was delicious, with unique flavors for the sides. The naam was thin and coated with a light coat of oil and was delicious. It was 9 dollars a lunch plate that had 5 sides. Im hooked!

I had read that this place had Yak so that’s why we decided to venture here to enlighten our tastebuds. When we arrived there was no one else there, which made us suspicious, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the food. Loknath was a great waiter and made sure our evening was superb. If you are interested in trying some Himalayan cuisine, this place is definitely worth checking out.

I decided to go here, after I seen it while heading to Insight shooting range. Let me tell you it is delicious to the 100th exponent. I had the Lamb Tikka Masala and it is spicy, sweet creamy mouthful of happiness.

My wife and I love the location near downtown Culver, so were excited when we found they opened this one, close to where we live. We arrived at 7 on a Sat night and almost turned around: despite the neon open sign, there were only two cars in the lot, and the place looked dark. We decided to go in anyway and they were indeed open, there was just one other couple there. The inside is a large, open room that looks like a catering hall for a wedding, complete with bar, buffet(unused at night), and stage. We were treated well from the start, welcomed by at least two employees, who also each asked if this were our first visit. Throughout there was great service except for the rice… We both ordered the chicken tikka masala(along with naan), but it was brought out without any rice. I mean, I know Angelenos have some crazy diets and maybe there are people who order curry with no rice, but that’s weird. The waiter asked if we needed anything else, so I asked for rice, and they brought some right out. If that were the extent of it, no problem really, I probably wouldn’t even have mentioned this. But he brought out this little dish of rice, clearly the amount that should be served with one dish, despite the fact that we had two. Even that, not a real problem, we’d just ask for some more, we’ve actually had to do that at the other location(though if you have more people they just bring a larger pot). The kicker was that they charged us for extra rice. Two bucks. That’s not insane, but come on, if one person walks in and orders a curry dish, they get the plate of rice, but if you order two dishes you still only get one plate of rice? Not cool. Anyway, great food, but apparently they aren’t shy about ripping the customer off. I almost want to drop the review another star.

The food here is great!!! The lamb is always cooked perfectly, the flavors are always consistent and well worth every penny. Very friendly staff and just an awesome alternate to the«norms». If you’re not familiar with Himalayan food… try it, especially here-you’ll be happy you did.

I ordered to go and everything was nicely packaged in containers. I got the vegetable korma meal with lentils, stewed greens, and naan. Everything was flavored beautifully, but the greens were a bit salty for me. I would definitely go back.

I yak’d when I ate here(more on that later) Da playa has grub from da Himalaya! Tara’s Himalayan Cuisine occupies the former home of Haveli &, before that, Shakey’s Pizza & Chicken. I’ve read about Tara’s yak products from their LA locations(one closed down), so I was giddy with anticipation to try yak for the first time, along with the other plates Tara’s has. First visit — 20% off coupon Khasi Ko Masu(heat level — spicy) — Slow cooked goat, sautéed with coriander & mango powder, garnished with cilantro. With an optional side of basmati rice for an extra fee, the KKM was absolutely magnificent! Tender, braised goat meat fell off the bone. I used each spoonful of basmati to soak up all the delicious nooks & crannies. The sweat was flowing from the my bald head down to my underboobs. Just the way I like it! ;p Looking very meager in portion-size, the KKM was actually filling. One of the house specialties and I see why. A must get! Second visit — BOGO lunch special Nepali thali(goat, heat level — spicy) — With the choice of goat, chicken or vegetable, I went with goat. Goat is such an underrated protein. It’s leaner than chicken & is packed with flavor to boot. The Nepali thali comes with daal & mustard greens, basmati rice, mixed pickles, raita & naan. A complete meal all in one. The goat was, you guessed it, great! Nice & spicy, the pickles added some welcome brightness & crunch. The basmati rice was fluffy & airy, the daal & mustard greens just right. A little pricey in my opinion, the Nepali thali does offer variety in one dish. Yak chili(heat level — spicy) — A preparation similar to sweet & sour pork, with bell peppers, diced tomato & onions, the yak meat reminded me of Filipino bistek(beef steak), but cooked well done. Really well done. As if the dish should almost be named yak leather chili. Now, full disclosure, I’m a guy who thinks a rib eye is perfect cooked medium rare. Pink=perfection. So, when I was anxiously awaiting my first taste of yak, I was completely caught off guard with how tough it was. Chewing became a full contact sport. It almost became a chore gnawing on each thick slice of yak. I’m glad I had the opportunity to try the yak chili, but I didn’t care for it, which is my personal observation. Tara’s also has a yak thukpa Sherpa’s stew, so I’ll reserve final judgment on yak meat after having that. As for the yak chili? Not for me. A bar with beer, wine & some mixed drinks dishes out the libations. Tara’s will soon offer a lunch buffet coming up in December. Service was good on both occasions. I was checked on, by staff and even Tara herself. Plenty of seating, with tables in the main dining area, a private area on the left of the stage, a lounge area with a long sofa by the entrance & a few stools at the bar. Speaking of stage, live music everyday, starting at 7pm! Unfortunately, no music on the house speakers the rest of the time. C’mon, a little Nepali music, please? I’d enjoy hearing it while dining on my meal. I did suggest it on the comment card upon leaving. Parking is in a private lot. Tara’s Himalayan Cuisine has the distinction of having Indian, Tibetan & Nepali cuisine. I enjoyed 2 out of the 3 items I’ve had thus far. I believe having live music & an upcoming lunch buffet will help carve out a niche in the saturated area in & around Little India. The goat dishes are great, and I suggest you still try the yak. Even the chili. Everyone has their personal taste, and mine just didn’t care for it. But, to you, it may be your next favorite dish in the whole world. I look forward to coming back and trying other items, like the momo(dumplings) & chow chow(noodles). Highly recommend! NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

Great food. Awesome Customer service. LIVEMUSIC. You will be glad that you visited this place. Tara’s Himalayan Cuisine has been very popular in Greater Los Angeles area for many years and we are excited to enjoy the same high quality Nepalese, India and Tibetan food in Artesia area where one has many choices of restaurants. This place is renovated under new management and is an excellent place for dining, take out, catering, birthday parties. Anniversaries. Best thing is: Ample Parking with no charges for Parking. When you visit Artesia, California for Grocery Shopping, visit this restaurant and you will be glad like me and hundreds of other regular customers. Thanks to Tara Gurung Black and the Team for great Hospitality and awesome service.

Nice place, spacious. Food was ok. Quantities are really small. I doubt a entrée is enough for one person. Live hindi music if you like that. Ambience is less. As the music is pretty loud. Added extra egg and got charged $ 3.98. Ridiculous!

Tried to place a take-out order at 9:56pm on Friday evening. They answered but said they were closed for the evening. Website and Unilocal advertises them as being open until midnight on Friday and Saturday. Probably won’t bother to try again.

I have been waiting for this place ever since their banner announced they were arriving. And yes, it was worth the wait! If you like Chinese and Indian food and can’t decide between the two for dinner, here is a good alternative. My family ordered the chicken momo, yak chili, chicken korma and sauted okra along with garlic naan. All the dishes were tasty and flavorful. The youngest one had most of the momo(dumplings) without the delicious, spicy sauce since it was the least spiciest. He ate all of it and was full. I ordered the Nepali thali which is a whole meal including side dishes of sauted greens and cooked potato. Very good! The meal experience was wonderful with the attentive wait staff, beautiful décor and relaxing live music. The prices are reasonable. The whole dinner for a family of four including dessert with tip cost us $ 70. Knowing that, now I’ll try their lunch menu. Very happy that there’s a Tibetian/Nepalese spot nearby and will be returning many times.

OMG! This place always meets my expectations. I am a regular at their LA location on Venice Blvd. When I heard about the Artesia location I was jumping got joy. The momos are so delicious and totally worth driving here for. Momos are Nepalese /tibetan dumplings and comes with a spicy tangy sauce. The curries are authentic and the spices are very well balanced. The Okra is one of my favorite! On weekends they have live Indian ambient music. I feel like I am eating excellent food in a monastery.
