I used to be a Cricket customer when they started service here in 2008. The price of the service seemed low, compared to other services in the area. I seemed like $ 48 for unlimited everything was a great value. However, things began to change when I found out the extent of their poor service. You definitely do get what you pay for. The wireless coverage was extremly spotty. When I tried using the phone south in Hillsboro, Missouri, the phone didn’t work. When I tried using the phone north in Hazelwood, the phone didn’t work. As well, customer service was nearly non existent with this company. The place got taken over by AT&T, so they most likely fixed the issue with the wireless coverage. However, the phones, and the customer service, wasn’t repaired. They do offer some phones with quality, but without contracts, you end up paying a ton of money. The Galaxy S4 is $ 799 at this company. But if you don’t want to pay a ton of money, you end up going with a very substandard phone that ends up hanging up on calls, rebooting itself after 20 minutes of use, or requiring a recharge after an hour of use. In short, Cricket doesn’t hardly offer a huge inventory of phones, and what they do offer, they offer it at a low quality. Walk into this location: this place is half empty and the customer service is barely great. My mom used to have this service and the lady at the counter took over 30 minutes to process a cash transaction. Yes, it was that bad. My roommate has this service now and is now planning on switching providers. He wanted to upgrade to a newer phone and what seemed like an easy process turned to be a more difficult one, as they didn’t advise that they needed two months of bank account statements to approve a credit approval for the phone upgrade. Now, he is stuck with an inadequate phone, and he is swearing to go to the attorney general and the FCC over a terrible experience. I suggest to research other phone companies instead. Try AOI Wireless or Credo Mobile. Maybe even Straight Talk. But, avoid Cricket Wireless like the plague.
