Our favorite place to eat whenever we go to Arnold. Service is excellent and the food is not to be beat no matter where you live. We love to go with our whole family and share everything. The best walnut shrimp yummy!

Arnold Chinese Restaurant has been a staple to the town for many, many years. The portions are huge, and the food is always yummy. Also, they are family owned and operated which is a plus! We have been coming here for years, and will continue to for years to come.

I love this place! It’s a family owned restaurant and the kids crack me up. The owner Cynthia is a sweetheart. They always welcome you even when they are crazy busy. The food is so yummy. They even know our order by heart.lol.

The food at Arnold Chinese(when you can get it) is pretty decent. The 2 stars is because of a lack of customer service. I ordered food to go on Valentine’s Day for 3 people. I knew the place would be crowded with a holiday and long weekend, so I called at 5:25PM. The girl told me my order would be ready in 30 minutes. Well, I was skeptical given it was V-Day, so I waited and arrived 45 minutes later. When I gave my name I was told, «It’s going to be a long time» I said, «how long? You told me 30 minutes, and that was 45 minutes ago»! She went to the kitchen and came back to tell me it would be at least ANOTHER30 minutes. I told her that was unacceptable and to cancel my order. I walked out, and I don’t know if I will ever go back. They weren’t even apologetic. RIDICULOUS!

We are locals here in Arnold. We don’t recommend this place because of rude service. The food is actually good. Just don’t make the mistake of getting your order wrong. The last time we went there we ordered won ton soup and hot & sour soup to go. We quickly revised that and said, «Forget the hot and sour. Just make it one more one ton. We’ll pay the difference«. There was some confusion. I guess ‘one more’ sounds like shrimp in Chinese. We took it back and the older woman argued with us. You say ‘one ma’. They finally took it and tossed it in the garbage behind them. She yells for the daughter to throw the trash away. Daughters glaring at me. Gosh! Really? It’s just a simple mistake. Who cares who’s fault. Right? Not worth worrying about. She went in the back into the kitchen. A moment later the gang banger wannabe daughter,(baseball cap gangland style), went into the kitchen too. Wondering what they are doing to our food at this point. $ 20 for two 1 quart soups. They could have handled this so differently. Lots of locals waiting for pickup orders as I said, «We won’t give you anymore trouble .» Daughters reply, «We don’t want you to». Read don’t come back. Your not welcomed here. That kind of tone. Humiliating We have spent hundreds there and had hoped to spend thousands more. Now I can’t see myself eating Chinese food in the foreseeable future. Created Unilocal account just for this restaurant.

It was too good to be true, «a decent Chinese food place in Arnold»…nope. At least we tried it out but I paid for it later that night and the next morning. :-( The food was not good at all, I would not recommend this place to anybody.

We stopped here on our way to Nevada from the central valley. We had the egg rolls pot stickers, mu sho chicken and snow peas and water chestnuts. The filling for the egg rolls wasn’t very good, I would try spring rolls instead of they had them. Not sure if the mu sho was different because it was chicken instead of the usual pork but it wasn’t spectacular. Now the snow peas and water chestnuts… YUM!!! And the staff was friendly. Many regulars showed up to eat while we were there. I would try this place again if in the area.

We come up to Arnold from the Bay Area once or twice a month, and we’re kinda over the heavy, bland food that’s served in quite a few restaurants nearby. Arnold Chinese is a standout-fresh, tons of flavor, spicy, great variety. The family is so nice, too. Love this little place.

This is a very nice very out of the way place. It is the best Chinese food we have had in a while. Not the best we have had but still very good. We are in the area for the summer and we will definitely return. The staff was friendly. The locals were greeted by name and that is always a good sign.

I will update my review as time goes on, because regardless, this is the closest Chinese place to me now that I’ve moved to the area, so I’ll definitely be back. The first time I had their food, I just had the egg drop soup. It was delicious! I usually am not a fan of extras in my soup, and theirs has a lot, but I loved it. It has tofu, tomatoes, and some other things in there. The second time I went we got the egg drop again, crab rangoons, a spring roll(with the meal), and the cashew chicken with pork fried rice. The egg drop was virtually flavorless the 2nd time, which was disappointing, but maybe it was just a bad day. The fried stuff was decent. The cashew chicken was pretty standard as far as strip mall mediocre chinese places go, definitely edible, but nothing to write home about. Same with the fried rice. It was alright. Won’t stop me from going there again for my fix and trying other things to find a favorite. Prices are good for the amount you get!

Rude service! 8 plates 1 was dirty 3 had hair! Table had good on 3 separate spots. Food wasn’t bad. My wife asked to return an item that tasted funny and the waitress said that’s our problem and we should deal with it. The other dishes tasted good. The lady at the register was asked to help in back and she scratched her nose before grabbing people’s food! Asked for for sauce took awhile asked for refill on water and I am still waiting!

I am sorry but I have to disagree with all the hypes about this place, about the best Chinese food outside the Bay Area. I grew up in the Bay Area. San Francisco to be exact. I did come to visit this restaurant based on all the positive reviews. As a matter of fact, I was looking for a place to go for my mini road trip and I set my destination to be Arnold so I can try out this restaurant. I ordered something off the special lunch menu. Comes with the main dish, rice or chow mein, soup, and a fortune cookie. I think it was for $ 6.95. I asked if I can get rice and add a side of chow mein and pay extra for it, as I felt like having both. No was the answer.:( I ordered something very basic. Beef and vegetables. In my opinion the broccoli was overcooked(I’m used to crunchy broccoli in a stir fry). Had celery and water chestnuts which I don’t care for. The flavor was decent. Not much of a «wok chi» to speak of. Steamed rice tasted like leftover from the night before(which might be a common practice, but they probably didn’t add enough water to re-heat the rice). The soup was decent. The best part is it was piping hot. I see that there are lots of repeat customers based on the way the waitress greeted the clients. If I am craving for Chinese food while I’m in that area, yes I’ll go back. I guess it is decent given where it is located, hence the rating.

I was in the area and my family was craving Chinese food so we tried this place out. Great service! Good and cheap Chinese food! Definitely satisfied our cravings. Place is just a bit cluttered and messy. Other than that, four stars!

I just tried this place yesterday, for the first time, for take out dinner. Attentive, friendly service by the young kid at the front counter, who handled herself more competently than many adults. This kid obviously has a good work ethic and it shows. The quickly prepared food was delicious. Looking forward to my return visit.

Amazing Chinese! This place is a gem, and what makes it extra special is that it is in Arnold, CA. You wouldn’t expect there to be good Chinese up there. I have been coming here since I was 10 yrs old. The sweet and sour soup is one of my favorites and you can’t go wrong with anything here. If you live in the area or your from out of town I recommend having dinner here. Nothing better than a long day of snowboarding/wake boarding and coming home to some delicious Chinese food!

My family owns a cabin in Arnold, and they’ve been going to this place forever. It’s got great San Francisco style Chinese/Hong Kong Style food, and they don’t shy away from special requests. My family friend who originally owned the cabin used to come here, and the waiter even taught him what to order for his heart condition when he was eating Chinese back in San Francisco. I love coming up to my cabin usually because I can cook and get away all at the same time, but this is one restaurant my family always stops at every visit.

Arnold, CA, the hotbed of ethnic cuisine. Whoda thunk that they’d have some very legit Chinese food? I’m not a big fan of Chinese in general. Most of it is pretty boring, Americanized, greasy blech. But, last weekend we were camping in Big Trees and it dumped rain all day Saturday. We decided to bail out(no pun intended) and tried to get in to Sarafina’s, but they were full up. We ended up here because of the reviews, and frankly we were all very glad that we did. Sesame Chicken — very tasty Orange Beef — very tasty Mu Shu Pork — very tasty Wonton Soup — very tasty Tomato Beef Chow Mein — the only thing that was less than stellar, but still good Plus, the family is just awesome. The two girls waiting tables, answering the phones and ringing up the cash register were hilarious and very cute, and mom was very sweet. We couldn’t have asked for a better meal in any circumstance.
