I haven’t been to this park for several years, but when I visited last Saturday, I noticed new additions to the park! New skatepark located on the east side, right before you hit the tennis courts. It was heavily populated with bmx bikes, skateboards, and roller blades. A strong appeal for(delinquent) adolescents, since that was the main population in that section of the park. It was nice to see that they weren’t putting wax and grinding on rails in the main section of the recreation center. Aside from that, this park always had a few tennis courts, a pool, and also a softball field. There aren’t many tennis courts, which is why you usually have to wait or find something else to do in the early morning/evening. The pool is also not very large, but it is rather long to allow people to swim laps. It’s open to the public during the warmer months(I think it’s only a few dollars to get in), and I believe the recreation center also has swimming lessons in June-August. Not a fancy park, but definitely has spacious fields and a few playgrounds. I don’t recommend coming by yourself at night in this area, but during the daytime with nice weather, there’s several people outside.

Nice city park– they recently gave it a face lift– so the playground is brand new. There are two things I don’t like about this park– First the softball fields are so uneven is a nightmare to play on them. We joined a league a while back that played here and just had to accept that any ground ball was gonna eventually pop up and get you on the chin. not to mention all the twisted ankles from the uneven terrain. The other is that you can not go to this park alone after dark. While its a beautiful park and the new trails are great for a stroll– there are some super shady people here at night. I live very close and I avoid it unless I have my dog with me.
