The Tumi Store

Will probably never purchase a TUMI bag after the service at this location. This was around 8pm on a Saturday, no one was in the store but one employee and he was busy cleaning (isn’t that supposed to occur after the store closes at 9:30?!). He abruptly said hello and continued cleaning, and never once asked f I needed anything. I proceeded to examine one of their larger bags (close to $ 1,000 price tag, mind you); said employee kept looking over his shoulder but never said a word. I then said «I’m just looking» — at which point the employee shrugged his shoulders and defiantly said «ok».
I’ve visited this location once prior to this, and at that time the staff were nice, but were more interested in conversing with one another than actually helping employees. And the music that was being played didn’t exactly seem, um, compliant with the TUMI brand…
I was actually a bigger fan of TUMI prior to them opening their own freestanding stores. I’m due for purchasing a couple of bags in the coming months but will likely go the Briggs & Riley route.

Tumi products look really nice. I always wanted to buy a Tumi bag, but end up buying other high end luggage, like Briggs & Riley or Rimowa. Briggs has a lifetime warranty and Rimowa are known for their long lasting quality and good looks. So, I yet to own a Tumi bag. However, I have other Tumi products, like travel kits, backpacks, sunglass case, etc. Products are very costly, but realize that they are high quality.

Overall: Great quality products and service — but it’ll cost you!
I was in the hunt for a good professional looking work bag and found one at Tumi! It’s a professional look leather number just big enough for wallet, cell phones, shoes and a sweater. It seems pretty durable and I’m told the straps are tested up to 250 lbs (though I cant imagine anyone putting anything that heavy on their shoulder!)
The sales person helping me was super nice — and funny! It made me feel a LOT better about spending so much on 1 bag.
Tumi also has a great return policy and warranty so I feel confident if anything happens, I’ll be covered.
If it wasn’t so darn expensive, I’d invest in some Tumi luggage as well.
Tip: This particular store is rather small so the selection may not be the best. I would assume they can order whatever you want, however.
