I never thought I’d review a coaster, but the Texas Giant isn’t just a coaster, she’s a legacy. I had the opportunity to experience 6 Flags Arlington during heavy rains. I knew rides would be closed here and there, but I took the gamble(knowing there may not be any lines). I literally walked right up to the front of the line and picked my seat. My riding companion sat in the«chicken coop” — harsh, but that’s what they call it! From what I could tell, if you’re chicken, you can opt to stay in the coop and ride if/when you’re ready. I wasn’t having that so I went solo! While I can’t recall every hill and turn, I can say this wooden coaster was smooth and could hold up to any newer, metal ride, in its own category, of course. Every run was full of thrill seekers, self included! Quick stats: Height– 153’ Drop– 147’ Length-4,200’ Speed-65 mph This was the first ride and our motive was to hit all of the coasters clockwise within the park. Should have ridden this one a few times before moving onto the others. Have fun!

Be warned: it is wooden, don’t expect smooth rides like steel roller coasters. It is definitely better than the older one. It has many twists, turns, and jerks.

Nobody has reviewed The Texas Giant? Haha, me first! This has been ranked over the years as the #1 Wooden Roller Coaster in the World for a reason: ITIS. This is a roller coaster that’s even better than it needs to be. That first drop is nothing short of spectacular, as is that fast ascent to it, but what puts this thing over the top is the final third of the ride. With a relentless spiral that seems to accelerate into the finish line, as most rides peak at first and then it’s all downhill from there, the Texas Giant is the gift the keeps on giving to the very end. 5 stars, can we give 6?
