Follow up on my original review: After retrieving our unrepaired cello from Music & Arts, we took it to the original manufacturer, who is also in Arlington. The luthiers immediately noticed the bridge had been replaced with one that was completely wrong for the instrument(too tall and was bowing in the middle). We had not requested a bridge replacement from Music & Arts. We feel certain that one of the orchestra teachers would have noticed the ill fit long ago, as it would have been detrimental to the instrument. Unfortunately, since Music & Arts did not charge us anything, we do not have any documentation of the bridge replacement, therefore no recourse for the additional repairs.

It’s a smaller store, but it had what I needed(a music stand) and the staff was nice enough(yet a little slow though). It’s not a Brook Mays or a Guitar Center but it has the basics.

Nice, very small, music store. Has plenty of different types of instruments, guitars: electric and acoustic, small compact pianos and keyboards, brass instruments and wooden, a few drums, music books and etc. Basically all the stuff you’d expect to find at a small music store. Prices are decent but still a bit pricey. They have a lot of different types of products, but they don’t have much variety for that product line. So meaning they have guitars but not much selection, they have amps, but not many, same for cables, accessories and stompboxes. So it’s very locally owned and clean(which I can appreciate). But again lack of product selection and price is kind of a turn off. It seems kind of a good store for beginners. Sure, they might not get as much variety big box stores offer, but it also doesn’t give you that sensory overload that usually scares new musicians and consumers. So it’s a lot less intimidating. Also you don’t have vultures of sales people trying to up-sell you products, warranties and services you probably don’t need last minute. So it’s perfect place for someone who’s just starting off and just need the basics and some advice on where to start IMO. I’d say a great place for young kids to start off. The people there are EXTREMELY nice and love to talk to you. They’ll explain and answer any question without any frustration or attitude as you used to getting at large music stores. They are inviting, friendly, professional and passionate about music and helping you and your kids to learn all about it. Check it out and rock on.
