Mexican food cooked on a conveyor oven like bar food. Canned beans, a capital sin. Bitter, mechanically chopped onions. Rice with the taste of achiote and nothing else. Salsas that left a lot to be desired. Mediocre tacos, definitely a no in Texas. The restaurant made international headlines after vowing to switch to all vegan after viewing the documentary Cowspiracy, started a fundraiser and began raising capital to support the endeavor, but quickly back pedaled. How much money did they raise? Shouldn’t they have to return it all? Offered excuses that made no sense for back pedaling, blaming the landlord, the University of Texas, etc. When a lawyer offered to view the contract, they denied the offer. Said they would be closed while students were away and the website still reads reopening January 19th, but it was a permanent closure. Not a good way to do business.

I went to thus place couple of weeks back. The cold drink machine was not working. The order was not professionally prepared. The sauces did not taste fresh. Lacked everything. Had a bad experience.

Maximum items are not available at any given time. Vegan burger is never available. No vegan chicken, no mushrooms. I hope they improve this soon.

Eclectic atmosphere, great service and good food at great prices make La Blue Casa a yummy and economical choice for Mexican lunch or dinner. This place in the College Perk district alongon the eastern border of UTA campus used to be Smiling Moose coffee and still has moose heads in the metal half walls lining the street. The interior is eclectic and full of art and quotes by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, who’s home was named Blue House, thus La Blue Casa. As an art appreciater, I found that pretty cool. Ordering required lots of questions as the menu takes a build-your-item approach similar to Chipotle, with a bit less clear language involved for some of the items such as Wet Burrito, Gooey Melt, Regular vs. Gourmet Street Tacos. And the«sides» go in the item. So I ordered the Wet Burrito with steak and two sides of rice and queso with Chipotle sauce. What came to the table was a single large burrito, plenty to eat but a little confusing because I expected«sides» to be on the side. We also sampled some specialty drinks including the Hibiscus Tea, Cantaloupe Tea, and a Horchata drink. The Horchata was so good we both ordered it. It tasted like Indian rice pudding in drink form with a touch of cinnamon. Delicious. The Wet Burrito was tasty and ample, but the sauce I chose was too spicy for me. Sauces are rated in the menu using a number of «+» with the Mango Habanero being spiciest at «+++» and on down. The chipotle sauce was a «++». So next time I’ll know to honesty something at «+» or lower. My eating companion ordered the Regular Street Tacos off the $ 5 menu with Cilantro sauce and was very happy with the choice. The guys behind the counter were super helpful. After we had been eating for a while, one came by and asked how we liked the food and if we had any suggestions. We both ate with drinks for under $ 12. Helluva value. With more menu to explore, La Blue Casa is a definite do-over.

Traveled to Arlington just to visit this place for a vegetarian meetup. Loved the food! The servers were really friendly and helpful with the menu. They helped us put tables together for our group and even offered us a discount for coming to try their new menu. I had the stuffed poblano with the chipotle black bean protein sub plus nopales, avocado, and the habanero mango sauce. Unless you are up for some REALLYPOTENT spice, do not get the habanero sauce! It was a little much with the poblano, but still delicious. I can usually handle a lot of spice. Everything was really flavorful, and everyone else’s meal looked great. If I lived in Arlington I’d definitely visit here often! Lots of great vegan options that don’t even taste vegan. Everything on the menu is gluten free other than the flour tortillas(so many options!!). Love that this restaurant is trying to help the environment and be health-conscious. Also, one of the Frida Kahlo murals on the wall was beautiful! Very inspiring place and great meal! We had a great time.

This place is awesome! Super vegan friendly with really good vegan options, they are cheap, and, most importantly, the vegan options are super delicious. The meat foods are probably good too. I had the St Tacos with the Black Bean Protein Substitute and it was FREAKINAWESOME. I also got the guacamole and corn salsa stuff. EVERYTHING was delicious and satisfying. I am going to try to go back to this place like once a week if I can. The staff is very nice, contrary to what others have reviewed and it the place with clean and had(limited) outdoor seating. 10⁄10 would recommend

First time here and it definitely won’t be my last. So thrilled that there is a Mexican vegan restaurant in Arlington! And a really good one at that. The owner was helpful in explaining the menu and offerring suggestions. Tried the potato flautas with vegan chicken added. The flautas were good and filling. I have had better vegan chicken — that would be my only negative. Interesting teas and really pleasing décor. I’m anxious to try out more of their menu and expect to enjoy it all! Thanks for having a great vegan option. I really hope it succeeds.

La Blue Casa is transition to an all vegan menu starting in February but has already started dishing out some fantastic vegan options that will make everyone including the die-hard meat eaters in the group happy. Menu options include gluten free selections as well for those sensitive. Overall a very good options for those seeking unique twist on authentic Mexican cuisine!

I’ve found service and food to be hit or miss, though the owner will take care of you if you bring any issues to his attention. The burger and gooey melt are among the best items on the menu. The Mexican Trash is probably the worst. Enchiladas aren’t really enchiladas, rather rolled up tacos but are decent. I’d recommend signing up for their rewards program and you’ll receive offers for $ 5 monday, I’d hesitate to spend much more than that.

First time trying La Blue Casa since their opening day– they have obviously corrected problems, and are more than ready for business! Not only is this convenient for UTA students, but the prices are cheap and the food is GREAT. I had the gourmet tacos with cilantro sauce… Needless to say I will definitely be back soon. Glad we have another good restaurant on the College Park strip!

This black is the BOMB! Not only convenient for UTA students but also the general public. This delicious restaurant offers a variety of menu options and they are all awesome! Came here once and loved it, been back many times since! Super affordable too, it’s the perfect combination! Also they are super empty so no hassle to find a seat and no one bothering you when you eat!

I was asked if wanted drink. After paying, there was no tea in drink area. Upon request for tea, I was advise it was a $ 1.00 extra for tea. All other restaurants include tea in drink area at no additional cost. Food was good.

Stopped in for lunch today during the rain and it was a welcome respite from the storm. Multiple tacos for a very reasonable price and their sauces are all made in-house, a huge plus for me. Will definitely be back to try out the mole and all the other good-looking stuff on the menu!

The first time I visited was today for lunch. I must say that I had high expectations that only fell short. Upon entering the restaurant, the menu was quite confusing to read. I’m pretty sure some of the food was misspelled, and I’m sad to say that this cuisine is definitely not authentic Mexican food. First off, the pricing is not included on the menu, but they do have student discount for $ 6.50 a meal not including the drink, which really isn’t bad for a fellow UTA student, but my total racked up with un tazo de jugo de piña… And refills of the pineapple juice(or any specialty drink) is $ 1 each. Pitiful, for a broke college student like me. I ordered the Mexican Trash, which really did taste like trash because I had high hopes for the dish as the server recommended it right off the bat. Bad move. Never again. You know what would pair greatly with the nachos though? LIME. C’mon, y’all… Mexican dishes are SUPPOSED to have limes, always. I probably will not return, sadly. Love Frida Kahlo, though!

This place does not serve genuine Mexican food!!! The isn’t even Tex-Mex. Genuine Mexican tacos is served with CORNTORTILLAS not flour!!! This establishment doesn’t even have limes– the prime ingredient used to flavor your Mexican food. I would only come back to this place for the aquas. Honestly, the aguas are the only delicious and Mexican thing here. Other than that, the Frida decoration is colorful and pretty.

First off, you order at a counter and they give you a number that doesn’t even matter because when they deliver the food they just ask every single person if this is their food and then deliver to the wrong people anyway. The menu is confusing(why do you call it a side if it doesn’t come on the side). The food is sub-par. Everything tastes like it comes from a can. The rice was overcooked and mushy. The restaurant itself is tacky and looks like it was painted in a hurry. Overall, La Blue Casa is disorganized and the food is neither authentic nor good.
