It says open, but actually the place is closed for renovation. Very disappointing to walk all the way there and then turn around.

If you’re looking to feel what it’s like to swallow icy-hot and let it simmer in your stomach before you fire a drone-strike payload out of your ass and into whatever poor open toilet is available, YOUCAMETOTHERIGHTPLACE I’m talking specifically about the BAKEDPENNEPASTA. Now listen I’m born and raised NEWJERSEYSON so I know what Italian’s supposed to taste like, but I can practically call Tony Soprano my family after eating this cuz he appeared in my hallucinations and called me a «fawkin jabroni» for trying to finish eating this(which I did, I DON’T BACKDOWN). But my stomach is feeling worse than when Big Willie and the twins get kicked and you got that lasting painful feeling up above your groin for the next hour, plus the regret of thinking you can get with that honey :( No idea why this was so hot, but my body is ready to annihilate my toilet again. Their«garlic bread» they serve are more like the 2 bagel chip-sized bread and smothered in garlic. Got their calzone before, and that was aight.

Decent beers on tap and happy hour specials from 5 – 7. Lots and lots of TV’s around for catching a game. Décor was warm and inviting. Service was pretty good although I found it difficult to get the attention of my server until my beer was empty. The pizza smelled great but I didn’t have a chance to give it a try as I needed to get home for the evening. I will definitely be back for the pizza — and another beer.

We ordered a pizza from Hearthstone for delivery and it was a disaster! I think Hearthstone may use pre-made crusts; the taste of everything was awful. Our pizza took 75 minutes to arrive and when it was delivered, it was obviously cold. We will never order from Hearthstone again.

Staying at the Crystal City Marriott on vacation this past weekend, we found Hearthstone to be within walking distance via the Unilocal app. The restaurant was clean, and the service was friendly; however, if I were staying in town again, it would not be a spot I’d go running back to. We ordered garlic knots(thanks to Unilocal for the check in freebie) and a chicken a la vodka pizza; the crust was a bit soggy, and the flavor was average. We ordered the small pizza initially(we weren’t incredibly hungry, and had hopes of ordering dessert) — but we felt pressured by our server to order the larger size. She repeated multiple times how the smaller pie was intended as more of an individual pizza, and she can eat a full one by herself and still be hungry. We told her that we were tourists and didn’t have a fridge in our room, so we didn’t want leftovers; she assured us that the larger size was just right for 2 people. Well, guess what — we ended up with multiple slices leftover; trust your gut!

First time, working in the area and thought pizza sounded great. When I stumbled upon this place… AND they have craft beer, I’m so in. I was alone and thought I may feel a little self conscious but Heather greeted me immediately. Super friendly. Felt right at home. Even met the owner! Great guy. I got a beer(3 brothers… yum). Heather was attentive to everyone in the place and I just knew the pizza she recommended(Bianca) for my to go order would be awesome! Thank you for a really good first time experience. Why not 5 stars. I’m very picky =) which should say something. Did I mention I’m a vegetarian– the menu had gobs of choices for me!

The garlic knots here are so good! We tried it for the first time a few weeks ago and it’s our new favorite pizza place in the area. Try the Neapolitan pizza too!

On a lazy and cold Wednesday night, I thought I’d give one of the local pizzerias a try. Due to its close proximity, I opted for a carry-out ordering, which in my mind would make up for the amount of calories I was about to consume because clearly, walking 4 blocks total will burn off pizza and lasagna, but I digress. I ordered the NY style chicken parmigiana pizza and the lasagna bolognese. The pizza itself was okay. Pretty standard flavors, with nice shavings of parmesan cheese dispersed across the top. The sauce was wall seasoned but nothing to write home about. I wished there were more breaded chicken pieces, but then again, don’t we always? Being from New York myself, I pride myself in knowing a good pizza, so maybe my standards were just too high, but at $ 21 for a 16″ pizza, I expected more. The lasagna was honestly what disappointed me the most. At a price point of $ 15, I for one, expected a larger portion, but two, expected something a lot more flavorful. The tomato sauce it was in was pretty watery, and the ricotta mixture inside was a bland and wet nothingness. Would not order this again. All-in-all, the Hearthstone Pizza Bistro was only okay for me. If the pizza were at a lower price point, then maybe I’d come again, but the quality to cost ratio is just not there for me to warrant a return trip.

Great! We were in the neighborhood waiting for a late game to watch at crystal city pub. The garlic knots were on point. I had the chicken Parmesan pizza, which was very good. Crust was excellent and the chicken was well done. My wife had the spinach calzone. It was huge and she really enjoyed it. They also have a good selection of Virginia beers. The odd things: After 900 one cannot order pasta or appetizers not made in the fryer. It was pizza and the like only. The service was not spectacular either. Not slow but the overall demeanor was poor. I’d still go back though!

You know, I’m just sitting here eating this leftover pizza(cold, as leftover pizza should be), and I’m thinking to myself, «An amazing pizza is one that has a unique goodness to it when hot and fresh as well as when cold and leftover.» And, wouldn’t you know, my leftover White Pizza from Hearthstone definitely meets that criterium. While the location, exterior, and décor are nothing special at the restaurant itself, I’ll go on record by saying that it’s another special addition to the surprisingly decent choice of restaurants in an area overwhelmed by big ol’ chains and drab hotels(Crystal City). My aunt was staying at a nearby hotel and we ate here on a super-chilly night, so there weren’t a ton of customers, but it was half-full. We were greeted warmly and tried to find a table away from the chill on the front door. The menus are simple; laminated versions of their direct-mail delivery flyers, and it should be noted that there is an extensive selection of made-to-order pizza, in both Neapolitan and New York Style, and in both 12– and 16-inch varieties for almost all pizza choices. Our waitress was nice, and our table was stocked with plenty of(big) napkins, chili flakes, Parmesan, and plates. While our side salads(I had the Maiya and my aunt had the Green) were a bit drab, we weren’t there for the salad(at least they were cheap). Our pizza arrived promptly, and was beautiful. No grease, no sogginess… just beautiful char here and there, and a crispy, chewy crust with a great cheese-to-basil ratio. And it was great to have a white pizza not overwhelmed by too much garlic or olive oil… I also loved the variety of Parmesan — padano, plus the ricotta and mozzarella! And, like I said, the fresh White Pizza was delicious, but so were my leftovers — the crust magically didn’t get soggy, and the chewiness remained intact without becoming rubbery. We were also impressed that the total for the salads, the 12-inch Neapolitan-style white pizza, and a glass of red wine totalled out to only $ 30!

Pam took exceptional care of me when I dropped in for an early dinner. I had stuffed manicotti, and it was exceptional. Pam kept my glass filled. A great time with exceptional service and great food! Gregory is the new owner, and provides an outstanding selection of craft beer on tap. I tried the Goose Island 312, and also a craft ocktobefest on tap. Great brews. Come in and enjoy the superior food and service.

Well a group of 7 of us including myself decided to come to Hearthstone Pizza because it was around the corner from our hotel, we needed carbs to run the army ten miler tomorrow, and we wanted to watch the first half of the Bama vs. Arkansas game. To say the least it was a waste of time & money. The game started at 6PM and we arrived approx. at 5:50PM. We got situated and ordered around 6:05PM. Four of us ordered 2 small pizzas(2 ppl to one pizza) and shared and we also ordered pasta. The other 3 just ordered pizza. We also all did not sit together as there was no room to. So 3 sat at a booth, 2 sat at a high top table, and 2 sat at the bar. My fiancé and I also ordered a side salad as well. OH. And I had been sitting at the bar for an hour and was never offered a drink not even water. I had to ask for water. We didn’t get the side salad till approx. 6:30PM. Everyone didn’t get their pizza till approx. 7:00/7:05PM and then the pastas came at 7:30/7:35PM. So overall it took 1.5 hrs to get things that don’t take long to make. Yes the place got busy but we arrived before the crowd got there when there was about 10 ppl there. Additionally, as you can probably sum up from reading above the service was extremely slow. There were only 3 ppl working the floor trying to accommodate a restaurant full of ppl. Some ppl came in and left bc it was so busy and not moving fast enough. Then to top off slow service, the food was not worth the wait. The pizza and pasta dishes were just basic. Basic bread, cheese, sauce, and noodles. Nothing special at all. No true flavor or execution of seasoning. Overall, I would definitely recommend trying another pizza/Italian place if that’s an option before coming to Hearthstone. It wasn’t the worst pizza on earth, but there is definitely better pizza out there. Don’t waste your time and money. I won’t be back!

Good spot to check out before you head to the movies(potomac yard theater). Had the Diavala pizza and the Hercules salad — both fantastic. Devoured each before i could take a photo. Good HH specials, friendly service, and looks like an ideal spot to watch football. $ 15 buckets. Lucky to have Gregory as our server. He owns the place and wowed us with his local beer recommendations.

Still a solid four star eating establishment, as I was finally able to try their Pizza again. I ordered a 16″ spinach artichoke pizza and two cannolis(**You can only use the free Garlic Knots Unilocal coupon if you order-in, something they should really say on the coupon**). I arrived 25 minutes after ordering to find they had forgotten to put cheese on the pizza, and they were making another one. So I waited an extra ten minutes and ended up with TWO pizzas, one with cheese and one without cheese(most restaurants won’t admit a mistake, let alone give you a free pizza). Not only that, the Pizza(both of them) was delicious — thin and crispy crust with fresh toppings. The cannolis were also delicious — creamy sweet inside and crunchy sweet outside with chocolate syrup and powdered sugar on top. Overall, my experience with Hearthstone has been mostly positive, but they seem to still have some kinks to work out with the ordering process, either by phone or GrubHub. I’m confident they can work it out and become a Crystal City pizza staple.

My date called and said we couldn’t meet at Crystal City Sports Pub, it was too crowded. Therefore, we would meet up at this pizza restaurant. Mediterranean pizza, neopolitan style. Quite tasty. Fabulous staff. Who knew this place was fantastic? I’ll most definitely dine here again.

Had a flight out of Reagan and decided to eat in and my hotel. Searched and found Hearthstone was nearby and you could order online and deliver. Pics and reviews and Unilocal were positive so gave it a try. Website was pretty good, ordered Hot Wings-Ranch, Hawaiian Pizza-NY Style(unfortunately no option for jalapenos ;-() and Fried Dough. On the website, it says comes with powdered sugar and your choice of rasberrie or chocolate sauce. I wanted no sauce and luckily you can add a note and they did not include it. **maybe add a «no sauce“option? So…wings were ok, nothing crazy good about them and the fried dough was actually small bite size pieces… and a TON of them! Was a whole container full and no sauce, which means they read the note. Unfortunately, only put minimal powdered sugar on top so all the dough underneath had none, unfortunate. But.while those were underwhelming, the pizza was outstanding. Got the 12» and was plenty for me. Sauce was plentiful and right mix with cheese. Crust was cooked perfectly, crisp and done in a stone oven by the markings and burn marks. Was just a tremendous pizza and totally enjoyed it. Ate half and put the rest in the fridge for later… and then 30 minutes later ate the rest it was so good. Pizza is excellent and worth the 4 stars!!!

We were in the mood for some good pizza after a long walk in the city. We remembered this place and it has been years since we have eaten here. It was a great option. You can pick from two different types of dough and they have a wonderful list of speciality pizzas. Also their garlic knots are to dye for! Tight, crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, garlicky delights! They were my favorite part of the meal by far. You must order them. Why did I give them 4 stars and not 5, well they were not very well organized. People that walked up and placed take out orders got their food way before we did. Also I’m a big NY style pizza girl and their pizza was delicious, but the two main components to good NY style pizza is the sauce has to be on point on and the cheese has to be cheesy. They are almost there with regards to the flavor. Maybe it’s just my tastebuds, but just not my favorite. All in all, great place, good prices, hot pizzas, and finger licking garlic knots.

I love a good pizza. With that said I’ll explain why I gave the rating I did. First off, if you check in on Unilocal you get an order of free garlic knots if you order a 16′ pizza(at least that’s what happened on my visit). The knots were tasty, solid but not out of this world. As for the pizza, my friends and I ordered the kitchen sink which has everything including anchovies. The pizza was not anything special if you ask me. The cheese didn’t stick to the pie and the taste was a bit bland despite so many toppings such as meatballs, mushrooms and peppers which I love on a pizza. The server was nice but very slow considering they weren’t slammed. They also didn’t put any ice in my drink and didn’t give me any refills. I’m sure we probably just caught her on a bad night but I was not impressed with the place considering how much I love a good pizza. Maybe next time… If there is a next time.

There is SO much on the menu to choose from, but I think my favorite is the $ 3 canoli. Seriously, you cannot beat that. AND it was delicious! Unfortunately, my panini was not as good as my canoli, but I made the second half better when I had it for lunch the next day and added some Green Goddess dressing to it. It was a little dry beforehand and really needed more of a sauce or more melted cheese. I would still go back to try other things on the menu because it’s all so appealing to this Italian girl. Hopefully it meets the mark!
