I was transferred to HealthSouth after a very complicated knee surgery for rehab. I had been in another rehab facility previously so I was very apprehensive coming here. My concerns were soon relieved after I met my caregiver team and physician. They completely put me to ease and laid out my rehab plan to get me home safely. The facilities are very nice. The hospital has a beautiful common are where patients and family can gather, watch TV or even work on a jig saw puzzle. The area is very inviting and cheerful. Another nice feature of HealthSouth is the outdoor courtyard. If the weather is nice, there is beautiful area to sit and enjoy nature. Another plus is that your family pets are allow to come for a visit. All you need is an up to date«shot» record. The caregiving staff is very dedicated to their craft and listen to the patient’s needs. Each patient is assigned a «case manager» whose job is to following the patient’s progress and update the patient how they’re doing and when they’re going to get discharged. Since HealthSouth is a rehab facility, don’t expect to sit in your room all day long. During the week, you will have 3 – 4 occupational, physical or speech(if needed) therapy sessions scheduled. They patients are kept very busy. In the afternoon when we get back to our room, it really feels good to get back into bed. My physical and occupational therapists have been fantastic. They din’t «coddle» me at all but push me to do a little bit better, make more progress, each and everyday. Food, it’s been pretty good for hospital food. So far, I’ve been impressed.
