I saw Dr. Swan at his Woodbridge office and I found the entire experience to be great. It was easy to make an appointment within a week, there was ample parking, and even with my new patient paperwork, I barely had a wait. Dr. Swan answered all of my questions prior to treatment and paused when I flinched at something I wasn’t expecting. Dermatology procedures are never fun, but he explained things every step of the way. Checkout and making a follow up appointment were equally as easy – don’t let the bad reviews fool you.

Went to see him with a few close family members with melanoma, and a mole was changing. He looked at it and determined it was fine. Did not check anything else and referred me to a melanoma specialist. If a dermatologist can’t check me for suspicious skin, seems not to be on top of his game. Oh, and on my request(demand), he did remove a skin tag. It was incomplete and red irritated for months.

Went to Dr. Swan to deal with abrupt, severe complexion issues. Told him when he asked that my skin is dry, so much so that I get hives in too-dry air. He did not seem to listen to me. He prescribed two topicals, one a popular and expensive thing with a coupon and the other he told me was as needed for moisture. Turned out both are incredibly drying; my face was bleeding within a day of starting these as prescribed. He apparently logged my skin as «oily». Find someone else if you value your skin.

My pharmacy contacted Dr Swan’s office to refill a prescription, and the Dr’s office waited a week to respond. Conveniently, when they responded it had now been a year since they’d originally written(to the day) and by their guidelines they were no longer willing to authorize a refill.(Keep in mind, this was for a topical solution). I don’t know if the goal was forcing me to come in in order to get my insurance to pay for the visit or if they’re just that disorganized, but it was just incredibly poor service and poor form. I may be forced to go back to them because there seem to be few dermatologists around, but they left a very unpleasant taste in my mouth.
