I cancelled my membership shortly after World Gym became Exercise nation. The new layout sucks, the atmosphere has taken a turn for the worst, and they instituted a slew of new rules, like no jeans allowed, that make no sense(why do you care if I wear jeans? Who does it bother?) Plus they got rid of several machines to make way for new and pointless items, like trainer desks and a tanning bed that I’m sure nobody would use. Lame!

I dont usually write poor reviews, but I felt compelled to come on here and gripe. Have to agree with previous reviewer. I had been a member of World Gym for a couple of years before Exercise Nation took over. I was pretty happy with my World Gym experience minus a few things here and there.(Lack of classes, occasional trouble finding a mat, weights, etc.) I particularly enjoyed the friendly and NON-INVASIVE staff that worked at World Gym. They were happy to help you when you needed it, but left you alone to do your thing the rest of the time. Since the EN switchover, there have been several disappointing/annoying changes. One of these changes is a relentless sales staff that asks people multiple times if you would like personal training. «Are you happy with your current results?» What are you insinuating here, dude, that I look like I need a lot of help? Please go away, I am trying to run on the treadmill, not chat with someone who is trying to sell me something and insulting me simultaneously. Secondly, they placed tanning machines RIGHT in the middle of the already limited free weight/mirror space up behind the cardio area. Not sure if they are being temporarily stored here or what, but it is very inconvenient. All in all, it seems as though this new company has come in and made many changes for the worse, but hasn’t actually improved any of the things that were wrong with World Gym in the first place. Thinking about changing to Sport and Health if the situation continues down this path…

This gym used to be known as World Gym which opened a couple of years ago near the Columbia Pike — Walter Reed intersection. Apparently it was recently taken over by Exercise Nation and made several changes for the worse. It removed several key exercise machines such as the squat rack, larger dumbells, one additional bench — to make room for«tanning and red light therapy». They are looking for a more«Planet Fitness atmosphere». Not sure what that means but World Gym was never a meathead establishment to begin with. The exercise floor was limited even further to make room for personal trainer desks — why does a personal trainer need a desk and why put it on the exercise floor? A gym is for exercise — if you want tanning and red light therapy(whatever that is) go to a spa. And as per World Gym standards — the locker rooms are still dirty, still have no paper towels, and a urinal that has been broken for about 14 months now. If you want to make changes, improve the basics first.
