Decent pizza with great Tuesday night specials so if you are a family that is the night to go. Get there before 7 and the parents can enjoy happy hour specials on draft beers. Mike the bartender is a cool cat.

All of the food is great and the craft beer specials are the best in Shirlington. Not a bad place to watch a game either as they’ll put whatever game you request on any of the TVs.

Great pizza, nice and thin. The Bella pizza is a must. The wings are really good too, especially at the happy hour price. You can’t beat their craft beer list in Shirlington and the $ 4 happy hour makes it even better. Best Peroni on draft I’ve ever had.

I have no idea what some of the reviewers on here are talking about. I have had more than my fair share of pizza and Italian food in my life and the quality of the dishes I have had here are excellent. So far I recommend the minestrone soup, bella pizza and chicken parm.

I enjoyed the thin crust pizza and beer choices. The staff was very attentive, and happy hour prices great. Unfortunately the bathroom was filthy. Garbage cans overflowing and paper scattered on the floor. It looked like it had been quite a while since it had been checked. A dirty bathroom gives me a bad impression of a place. Without this I would have given a 4 star.

Wow! What a welcomed surprised from the excellent service to wide selection of local and international beers on tap, Café Pizzaiolo is a wonderful and hip set up in Shirlington. Their specials, especially the meatball and feta cheese pizza on Mondays, are the bomb. Dont want to miss out of on Steal the Pint night or brewers night, where craft brewers come and spend time explaining and showcasing their different beers. With the ability to deliver beer locally, this place has everything you need from great food, drinks, extremely helpful and entertaining staff(Find Will at the bar!). 5STARS!

Café pizzaiolo has the BEST pizza around the area by far. I usually pick my own toppings and order my pizza well done(firmer crust) Staff is always talkative and friendly. They have NY style and Neopaliton pizza crusts. Best HH around the area as well! 11−7pm 4 $ crafts and a few 5 dollar apps such as wings and calamari and brusetta.

The service here was absolutely outstanding. They bent over backwards to accommodate every request of our group and continuously went above and beyond. The food was tasty. Enjoyed the wine but the service makes this place a true winner and has my loyalty for sure. Such a rare and refreshing experience!

Best thing about it was the beer. Had a large selection of tap and bottled. The food was average.

The ratings are all over the boards, which usually means one thing — inconsistency. I live in the neighborhood. I’m a regular customer; so I do like this restaurant and enjoy the food and atmosphere. The inconsistencies, however, can’t be denied. This place has high staff turnover, which means that the workers are often inexperienced. Last week’s A+ meal might become a mess when prepared by a new cook. Good service disappears when a crew of waiters gets replaced. Café Pizzaiolo has prompt, friendly delivery service. It also has an on/off premises liquor license, which means that it can include beer or wine in a delivery order. Yes, you can have booze delivered to your front door!!!

This place is the king of mediocrity. The pizza was very average. The children’s spaghetti(served with the spaghetti sauce on the side in a cup, which seemed like a cute quality) was average. And the chicken sub(which I’m sorry but should not take longer than 20 minutes to come out once the pizza arrived and were finished with it) was very average as well. We just thought we would come here with the whole family, since there’s a children’s menu. Unfortunately my kids found the pizza much too chewy, which for me was actually a nice break from the Papa Johns they seem to serve at every party. But I still found the pizza average tasting at best. My 5 year old boy also kept commenting on how bad the bathroom smelled, which he has never brought up before at a restaurant. I told him to just hold his breath, but I still found his comment quite telling of the place.

First time here and I will be back… The pizza was tasty with nice thin crust, both chewy and crisp at the same time. I had a goat cheese pizza with sausage on it. The sausage had a little bite to it; wish there was more of it on the pizza, but overall it was good. I had a good spinach salad. It, too contained goat cheese(it was a goat cheese kind of day!). Also contained some pistachios, craisins, mandarin oranges and a nice citrus dressing(thoughtfully served on the side). The icing on the cake was the friendly, laid back and attentive servers and bartender. I was even offered a sample of tasty gelato(wish I had room to order some but the single spoonful was just right). Nice décor too — everything on the walls and ceiling is made from pizza boxes. Creative and hip, not tacky. Glad I am in the process of moving to the neighborhood and having this restaurant down the street will be a nice benefit to living in the cool Shirlington/Fairlington neighborhood!

My bf and I decided to try a new pizza place and went with Café Pizzaiolo in Shirlington. We were expecting some nice, specialty pizza. Instead, we were given a pizza that was so soggy that it fell apart as soon as we held it up to eat it. We ordered the large Caprese Pizza(neapolitan-style crust with fresh mozzarella, chopped roma tomatoes, garlic, sea salt, olive oil and fresh basil) and it was super bland. I understand that caprese salads aren’t the most spicy or flavored, but they could have at least put some hint of garlic or flavor on it. We couldn’t taste anything except hard, chewy cheese. With other good pizza places in the DC area(Lost Dog Café, Paisano’s, and even Pizza Hut /Domino’s), I doubt we would visit Café Pizzaiolo again.

What I love about this place is the good food and friendly service. Mike the bartender is not only handsome, he’s knowledgeable about beer and always sends me on a mission to find a great tasting brew. And every beer he’s suggested, I’ve loved. My favorite pizza is the spicy veggie pizza. My second fav is the Mediterranean pizza sans chicken. Today, I ate the Chicken Milanese sans chicken, add veggies. Delicious. I’ll be back for sure. I love this place. Happy hour everyday from 11−7pm. The happy hour gods love us here.

Fraud protection(frog protection?) — is there anything Unilocal can’t do? Thanks to previous reviews I checked my credit card statement and noticed I also was double charged for the tip I left. At some point, shouldn’t this be considered stealing? Most other reviews nailed it. Well below average service, great pizza, and shady practices, that’s what you get here.

Ok who the f. puts sauteed onions on a Cobb salad? Total fail in this fiddle’s book. It was a surprise and a turn off, couldn’t eat it. The pepperoni pizza was made by a blind person with the pepperoni all on one side of the pizza wtf, and even our kids who ordered it were like wtf. But the pizza tastes amazing and is worth the mixed up stupid made pepperoni as well. Recommend the Bella pizza, by far the best on the menu. Cobb salad. Not so much. They have better salads on the menu. Suggest you try those. Service is spotty and they always seem to be understaffed. But still we come back. Because the pizza taste great.

My first visit here was just a few days ago, I want to say Tuesday night. Went with two friends who have been here on several occasions and wondered why I hadn’t tried it when I live around the corner and I love pizza. So glad that I did. It wasn’t too busy of a night so service seemed fine to me, compared to other reviewers. Actually, service was pretty awesome, they were attentive and super nice. We originally ordered one glass of sangria while the rest of us were deciding. Then we changed our minds and wanted a pitcher of sangria, thinking, they could just pour the glass into the pitcher for all we cared(we did not say this though). Nope-even better, the bartender comes out with our pitcher and the glass that my friend had already ordered, saying she already made it but saw no point in pouring it in. So she got brownie points for that. Ps. the pitcher is a GREAT deal-$ 22 for red sangria and we shared it easily among 3 ppl. We weren’t crazy hungry so we just ordered a large Carne Mista NY Style Pizza to share, which was AMAZING. Crust was perfect, thin and slightly crunchy, right amount of sauce(was not too dry), cheese and meat toppings. No complaints. Afterwards, we saved room for dessert so we each ordered something different. I had the tiramisu which I thought was good, not mindblowing but not lacking either. Overall, very happy with my meal and drinks with friends, and staff were all kind and attentive.
