I found Avenue when I lived in the Houston area by accident, driving to a Home Depot. I was in the parking lot when I saw the storefront well enough to ascertain that«Avenue» was a plus size ladies clothing store. After I found Avenue I dropped Lane Bryant like a hot potato because the clothes were so much cheaper and the tops didn’t all assume that all fat ladies are DDD up top. When I moved up here I started looking for an Avenue and the closest one is near the Parks mall, conveniently located near two other plus sized clothing stores(Torrid, inside the mall, and LB in the Highlands) so that I would have the three bears of plus size available to meet my emergency clothing needs efficiently. Avenue is usually the first one I hit because when it is good, it is great. The prices are decent, though sometimes the best stuff is the new stuff not on clearance, but when they have a sale, wow, the prices get terrific. The problem is, it is very hit or miss. I have gone there and had to choose in tears between too many great selections… and there are days like this past Monday when I went in there and it was horrible. Apparently they were having a clearance sale that covered pretty much all their casual summer clothes(shorts, tops capris). I literally only found *two* pairs of shorts in the entire store in my size and they were the butt ugly ones that even my grandma wouldn’t wear(may she rest in piece). The vast majority of clothes were either a 14 or a 28. I kid you not. I had picked up a couple of the 18’s but realized that they were just too ugly to buy, so I didn’t bother trying them on. The staff at this store is usually pretty good. They helped with a problematic return from their online store with good nature. And I have in the past found some really cute stuff here. But, it’s hit or miss, and for that I have to ding it a bit.
