Adam’s Feedstore & More

I wish I would have looked up reviews before walking into this place and I would have avoided it. I’m glad to know I wasn’t just singled out in this experience…
Today I went in to look for a cat for my mom. They had a sweet kitten there by itself in an all wire cage… No bed, just a litter box. I asked the biker looking guy working there if I could hold him/​her and he rudely said «only if you are actually serious about buying it.» Cool, I get that but it made it seem like he was talking to me like I’m a child. I asked how much and they said $ 25. I left until I heard back from my mom. Her reply? «You’re wanting to get an animal from there? I called the humane society on them one time cause they had so many ferrets in one cage in their own feces.» She lives right around the corner from this place.
She suggested I see if they’re willing to sell for $ 15 since we figured they didn’t have shots and you can pretty much get cats for free. I very nicely asked the gray-​haired lady at the front and she snipped at me «This isn’t a 5 and dime store, it really aggravates me when customers come in here trying to barter and negotiate the price of animals!»
Needless to say I will never step foot in this place again. I am in full support of mom and pop stores but I won’t be treated ugly. Check out other review sites and you’ll see some people purchased animals near death from this place. Unless you like mistreated animals and poor customer service, stay far, far away from this place. There is a reason they only have 2 stars.

It’s the only feed store for miles, and they know it. Poor customer service and a snotty attitude. I think I will find another business to patronize.

Dirty, crappy place that has no customer service. They sold my 17 year old daughter. They told her it was a chocolate lab mix and that the puppy had all it’s shots. Maybe it all the shots but it also had hookworms which are very contagious. I went back to their store to get the treatment so that I could let them know all the other puppies there could be at risk. When I said something, the clerk basically called me a liar. I asked if she wanted to see the vet test and she ripped the pills out of my hand and told me to get out! When I pulled out of the parking lot, it was closing time. The old man almost hit my car with the gate! Will never go back!!’

I have been to this feed store several times. What I find almost every visit is something that makes me question why I came back. Actually, I usually only come to this store if Marshal Grain is closed. In fact, I went to the Marshall’s Lancaster location right before I came to Adams only to find that they were closed today so I went to Adam’s store instead. They always seem to be dirty or smell bad and I think it’s mostly related to the live animals that they sell. I understand some live animals are a feed for other animals so I can see where this makes sense for them. However, there are several that do not look to be taken care of such as the troughs of rats or puppies playing in their own poop.
There is a fish tank near the back of the store that looks to be a total of maybe 200 or 300 gallons of fish with no lighting at all. I’m not an expert but I think fish require light for good health. There is a printed sign that says «pardon our lighting these fish are actually for sale.»
I only buy chicken feed from them or treats if I happen to need them.

Not real sure what some are complaining about on here. The folks at adams are always friendly and down to earth. They are real folks working hard to keep a business going. There is nothing uppity about this place which makes it wonderful. If you received poor customer service you must have been a poor customer. These guys and gals deserve respect. They work hard in a world of corporate giants trying to kill the little people. Keep up the great work folks

Feed Store for pets and more. Costly and dirty. Had spider web’s and actual spiders. Looks like a mom and pop shop or family owned spot. The smell was horrid when stepping in the store and the clutter was an eye sore.

Literally just got denied service because of the staff’s attitude problem. My dad had reserved a UHaul to help my sister and I move. We arrived at 8:54 am as the place opened at 9. We had pulled up in front of the gate as there was another guest waiting in the street.
The staff arrived at 8:56 am. They were already in a doul mood. The «owner» or whoever yelled at my dad to back up so his employee could get in. No politeness whatsoever. Please note there was no sign stating we shouldn’t park there.
Once the 2 employee cars came through the gate (my dad has only «blocked» one) the yelling man slammed the gate shut. This is roughly at 8:57 am.
Shortly later the guy pulled out his phone and dragged his feet in the most glorious dramatic display ever. 9:00 on the dot he opens the gate and my dad drove through as well as the guest behind us.
My dad walked in and I noticed that 2 employees were already smoking as opposed to working.
My dad walked out briefly later and came back into the car. He said «Well we are going to another UHaul. The guy yelled at me saying ‘We open at 9!’ I said I know but you didn’t have to be so rude.»
Then, «Another guy said ‘If you don’t like it go somewhere else!’ So I said next time I will and then the guy said ‘No, you will now!’»
Never go here. Don’t support these people.

These are some of the rudest people we have encountered. The customer is never right, but every one at Adam’s always is. They tell you one thing on the phone and when you get there it is a completely different story. Avoid this place!

Dead animals and overpriced. Help is on a first grade level, plants look like you blow torched them, I believe the health department has raided them atleast twice. Owner is in denial. Would go anywhere else.
