The Residences at Arlington Heights

Hello. It’s me again. Here’s the latest shenanigans with this latest management company. After 7 years here and a 5 day grace period to pay your rent. They changed to a 2 day grace period without any announcement. So I pay my rent on the 5^th the next day I get a late fee of $ 125. In addition to that they removed my Directv Satallite Dish without warning and no explanation without removing all of them in the complex. So they picked and chose who’s to take down. Leasing office blames everything on corporate. They are promoting a game room and bowling alley I guess another reason to raised the rent. The previous management companies did nothing to the property but at least they didn’t fuck with people. Don’t move here. Please dont move here.

The complex has many issues since it was acquired by new openers that changed the name to «The Residences», the name sounds like a senior citizens home or a Minimum Security Prison!
The new owners brought crews from Texas at great expense.
Instead of leaving the nice brick alone, great expense was paid to paint the buildings white!
Which the tenants will have to pay for it.
I rarely see cleaning see maintenance cleaning trash off the ground and the dog waste disposal have no bags and the receptacles are not emptied so the waste is left on the ground.
One of the largest problems here, is LACK of SNOW REMOVAL!
1.Clearing snow is not done in a timely manner, days may go by before it done, and improperly.
a. Tenants have to help remove snow for neighbors, so the can drive on the slippery snow
covered parking lot.
b. Neither the parking lot or walkways or ever de-​iced. This is a slippery and dangerous
situation, with Ice covered parking lot and walk way «Black Ice» also forms.
I have fallen 3 times this season while walking my dog.
However IF I do get hurt, this complex will be held liable.
Currently the is a tenant that slipped on the Ice and is now Hospitalized going through rehab to regain the ability to walk.
So Please stop wasting money to raise our rent and get back to taking care of the Tenants!

This place is not worth renting from. Too many issues, the wrong people, bad management. Please don’t rent from this place. I had a very bad experience. Stay far back as you can.

I have lived here for 2.5 years and I’m done. I’ve had cockroaches twice. My neighbor had bed bugs. The renovations are messy and unorganized. The property is not well kept and trash will sit on the lawn for days. Changing the name and a fresh coat of paint isn’t going to fix this place. I’ve had loud neighbors that tell ME to move when I go to them to ask them to be quite at 11pm so my daughter can sleep. I’ve had unruly children running in the halls. I’ve put in a maintenance order twice to get my bathtub fixed and no one came. The hallway light was out for 2 weeks. The rotten fruit complete with fruit flies was in the stairwell for a month.
I’m fed up and I’m done. I can’t wait to move when my lease is up.

The horrific reviews online of this place when it was known as Tanglewood Apartments are legendary, going back over fifteen years. Every couple of years the place would change owners and management companies and get just worse and worse. The apartments themselves were lousy, cheap, flimsy construction not built to last. Continuing problems, turmoil and «renovations» disrupting tenants’ lives. And the constant turnover of ownership and management just exacerbated an already bad situation.
Now there’s a new owner and new management company. But this time it’s different. A new name to hide from the past. And whereas before the misery was just inflicted internally upon those unfortunate enough to live there, now new misery is inflicted on the neighbors, the community and anybody who happens to drive by. You see, these new people decided what a wonderful idea it would be to paint those lovely brown brick buildings stark white! All over. Every inch. Whereas before, the rustic brown brick blended quietly into the surroundings, now those buildings stick out like a sore thumb. During day light, the place looks like a mental hospital. At night in the stark glow of the mercury vapor lights that surround the place, it looks like a German Prisoner Of War camp. All it’s missing are the gun turret towers. You really just have to wonder what goes through peoples’ heads when they do things like that. How stupid can they be to actually paint brick?
As for the review here by «Angie», it looks like it was written by their marketing department. Does «she» really want us to believe they remodeled her kitchen while she was living in the apartment? The business office has «great hours»?!? Really? They are completely closed on Sundays!!! Note also that this «person» has only this one Unilocal review. And, yes, I did live at the place, back in the 80’s and 90’s so know what it’s like inside. I especially remember the silverfish scurrying through the bathroom they could never quite get rid of. I got out, but still live in the area. New windows, paint and appliances only put lipstick on this pig.
I suspect that anyone moving into this POW camp can expect ridiculous, skyrocketing rents as well. You have been warned.
