So delicious. Reminds me of food from back home. Something thats not run of the mill american food like most of the other food in ive found in this area.

The best gyro ever! Everything is good and very inexpensive for the quality and quantity. We always stop here when in Humbolt Co. Very casual counter order and diner type eatery. The owner and staff are nice folks too.

I love Mediterranean food. Kebab Café doesn’t disappoint. I am here for my brother’s memorial and arrived starved after a very long drive. This happens to be close to where I am staying and had good reviews here and TripAdvisor. I ordered two skewers, one beef and one veggies. It was ginormous. I am still shocked(as they were) that I ate it all. The vegetables were perfectly grilled and the beef was medium. Couldn’t beat it. The sauces and warm pita bread made these sandwiches. The young lady at the counter recommended the falafel sandwich at first. After my first meal I decided to come back. Today same… except this time had the falafel sandwich. Perfect and then topped it off with pistachio baklava. Nice size piece. I left feeling loved, comforted and fully sated. I’m coming back next time I’m up here

First time at the café and I have to say it was on fire! I had the traditional gyro with tzatziki sauce. The ground lamb/beef was tender, flavorful and cooked perfectly so it wasn’t tough. Pita bread came out warm and fluffy, not too thin like I’ve seen at other places. It could’ve used a little more cucumber or cabbage for crunch but the all around taste and texture was delicious. Another reason why it was on fire. The HOTSAUCE! Ohhh myyy. I love heat, just know this habanero-based sauce will light you up! lol I poured it on the whole thing before I overheard the server saying she only put a couple DROPS on her gyro. use sparingly. Can’t wait to come back and try the kebabs. Cute decorations as well in this small dining establishment.

Based on the various reviews I thought I’d give this place a try. Bad mistake… First I ordered the special rice and chicken kebab. The«special rice» was nothing more than heated up white rice with a sprinkling of wheat thrown in. The chicken kebab was extremely salty. I returned the meal to the counter and mentioned the above facts. I asked if they had anything«fresh». The wait person did not understand what I meant by «fresh». I asked is the shrimp fresh or frozen. The answer frozen. I then decided to order the mushroom kebab in a pita sandwich much better results. Don’t go here with high expectations of having a great Mediterranean meal, you will be disappointed. Very minimal seating

I haven’t been here since I was a kid-we used to come all the time but I didn’t like gyro because I didn’t want to eat lamb, and I didn’t like falafel because I was stupid-but after going to a falafel restaurant in Santa Cruz that my friend works at I’ve been really wanting to come back. I don’t know why people have left reviews about it being overpriced, we got a gyro sandwich, falafel cheese burger, pita and hummus, and a side of fries for $ 20. Everything was delicious and when I went to buy another side of tzatziki sauce they didn’t charge me for it. Sure there might be better Greek/Mediterranean restaurants elsewhere in the world but this is humboldt county and kebab café is pretty damn good

Traveling for work & some of the guys told me to check it out. 1st visit I got a Gyro and Veggie Kabob. Good flavor on the gyro, the kabob was a little salty. 2nd visit — Double Gryo burger and Veggie Kabob. Burger was great, kabobs were better today. Cash only…

These guys are okay. They get a ton of hype because they’re the only Greek/med game around. The workers are generally just alright. Occasionally you get the attitude pike though. The owner(Simon) is extremely pleasant and cares about customer experiences. He also provides by-far the best experience here. Serviceable, functional, and not bad. If you are craving some med delights, this is your only hope in the region!

The falafel was too spicy, way to pricey !!! Tahini dressing was $ 2.50 extra if you wanted it

We had the chicken gyro and the beef kebab dinner plate and the protein can sure use a good marinating and seasoning.

This is definitely a hot spot for the hubby and I to hit up, the food is a always delightful and hot! I get the falafel while the husband goes straight for the double meat gyro sandwhich(you know what they say about opposite attract haha). The only downside is because the restaurant is a little finding a spot to settle down in, can be a bit complex if you come during peak meal times. However I will confess one of my favorite things about this place is their homemade habanero hot sauce! It’s awesome, I have a hard time finding a hot sauce that actually has some kick to it and this definitely fills the need for heat!

Great place with friendly service. I ordered the chicken gyro sandwich and it came with several veggies and staff recommended half & half on sauce which gave it a good kick. Recommend this place to all Unilocalers!

Awesome meal; we were spending 2 nights in Arcata and ate here twice. Food: The first night I had an gyro sandwich, and the second night I had the adana plate with lamb. Well-seasoned meat, lovely hummus and baba ganoush, and lots of fresh cucumber and tomato to go with a side of crispy falafel. I can’t say enough about how good both dishes were. The missus and kids split a variety of shish kebabs — chicken and beef, which were both tender and amazing. Great charred-but-not-burnt flavor, and served with really well-prepared rice. Definitely very happy customers. Service: Counter service with very friendly staff. The second night we did a take-out order and though every person on staff was different than the night before, they were equally friendly and helpful. Vibe: You-won’t-believe-you-found-this-place-cool. Small, simple dining room that isn’t fancy. You know why? Because they spend their money on good ingredients and training the staff to prepare and serve delicious food. Much props to the proprietors. Family-friendly: Yup. If your kids will eat meat and rice, they’ll eat here. Summary: If you are in the area, you have to eat here. There are some not-so-savory types around, but don’t let it keep you away. The food is excellent, it’s a good value, and your belly is going to be very happy with you.

Despite living a couple blocks away for the past few years, I just got around to trying this place… and I wish I had sooner! I’d been craving a gyro and the one I ordered was just what I wanted. The meat was tender, the veggies fresh and the tzatziki had an almost garlicky twang to it. A bit more pricey than I was expecting, but the gyro was larger than I thought it would be. I’m excited to try their other menu items!

I got the Veggie Kebab Skewer which was a little too salty and the Tabouli Salad which was a bit bland. Wouldn’t recommend them. But my dad got the regular size Falafel Sandwich which was huge! It was pretty tasty and little spicy. The pita bread was soft and the falafels had good flavor. Definitely a hole-in-the wall place, which I’m not opposed to. However the décor was odd and the atmosphere was not the best.

We stumbled across this lovely little spot because we were staying in a hotel just across the street. Great find! One of the best Gyros I’ve ever had, served up with a delicious ice-cold beer. Perfect meal after a long day. The folks behind the counter were friendly, helpful and we are looking forward to going back.

Excellent meats, top quality sauces. One day they’ll realize the only thing that sucks is the location.

This place spoiled me. When I worked in Arcata I went here regularly and really liked the gyros. The meat is well cooked and has a nice char, the vegetables are fresh and tasty, and the tzatziki(cucumber) sauce is excellent. Since moving to Oakland I’ve tried to find a place I like as well and the only place that did it for me was a booth at a Greek festival. Other places seem to boil the meat, include few vegetables, and have bland tzatziki sauce. I can’t say anything about their other dishes since I did not try them. The only reason I only gave it four stars is because I associate five stars with fine dining and the Kebab Café is rather plain. If you’d like a good gyro, or would like to try your first gyro, the Kebab Café is an excellent choice.

They’re a bit over priced so I rarely eat here, but it’s generally pretty good. I find that the food is pretty messy but since turkish food is my favorite type of food, I do enjoy it. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from eating here, just be aware that it can be messy and pricey — I’m usually a clean eater, but I always leave here with sauce somewhere on my clothes!

The people: friendly & courteous Fresh & delicious: im familiar with the pita kebab sandwich(suggestions: half it meat & falafel) sauces your choice: the yogurt or the red.(Suggestion: add, homemade habanero) The price isnt cheap, moderate price ranges: fitting too the amount of sustenance. 4 of 5 is high scores.
