Best Taiwanese stewed pork rice(lu rou fan) in the Arcadia/San Marino area hands down. That’s all you need to come here for. Super fatty, succulent, melt in your mouth cubes of stewed pork. There is also a good selection of other Taiwanese snacks and side dishes like deep fried stinky tofu, pork blood cake, grilled sausages, blanched vegetables, etc. The food is very salty though. Have some hot tea with your meal. It’s a must.

I had no idea there was a stinky tofu place around here, even though my boyfriend has been here several times. I’ve been to the UPS store many times, and always thought the«Chan’s Paris N» place was a coffee shop or something. Came here for a quick bite to eat, and was pleasantly surprised at the food offered here. It comes very close to the food I’ve had in Taiwan.(But depends on what you order…) Not too many people, but throughout the half hour we were there, a steady stream of people came in and out. Very simple menu, and the prices are all pretty cheap if not decent for what is offered. My boyfriend ordered the sticky rice dish and a minced meat rice while I wanted something more soupy and opted for their beef noodle soup. We also got an order of stinky tofu. I really liked the minced meat rice. Very flavorful, with a lot of meat, an egg and some pickled vegetables on the side. The sticky rice(not sure how to describe it) with some meat sauce was also unique. I have to say that I liked it, although I’m not sure what to make of it. It tasted pretty good, and the sticky rice was flavorful. The stinky tofu was okay. I had a stuffy nose that day, so I wasn’t able to smell any stinkiness(haha thank goodness), but I did enjoy the texture of the tofu. It had a little kim chi on the side, which did add to the taste if you ate the tofu with the vegetables. As for the beef noodle soup … it wasn’t flavorful at all. The noodles were good, but the broth wasn’t and neither was the beef. I had to take it home. My parents said it smelled fresh, but didn’t have much taste to it. The total came out to only around $ 20 which wasn’t too bad. I think they do accept card here, but I’m not too sure about that. All of the food is served pretty quickly. They could have more service as our water cups weren’t refilled after we finished them, but oh well. I would like to come back to get that minced meat rice again, and to try their baos!

The Chinese name translates to STINKYTOFUKING. But the english sign reads«Chan’s Paris N.» Not really sure where to put this review, but it’s all for the same restaurant! AMAZING Stinky tofu here. The 4 stars are for their stinky tofu. The other food here is mediocre… at best. This is my favorite place to get stinky tofu in LA. It really doesn’t get much better than this place. The flavor and texture of the tofu is perfect. The tofu isn’t too hard or too soft. The pickled veggies are great. They add a nice refreshing sweetness to the fried tofu and soy sauce. Dont get the other food here. Stick to what they are known for: STINKYTOFU! If you want good Taiwanese food, go down the street to Sin Bala. This place is only good for satisfying your stinky tofu cravings!

Forgive all the following descriptions… I’m not Taiwanese and seriously lacking in knowledge of this area but went with a friend from Boston who was fluent in Mandarin and a Chinese gal. I think 2 impression stand out the most… Cafeteria-esque and dang cheap! Its so inexpensive that I think a date would be offended if you decided on this spot for that romantic occasion. As for the items we tried(I posted all the pics) there was a boiled green veggie dish with some flavored beef on top, wet dumplings in hot chili oil, the shop famed stinky tofu(flavoring and texture was great), blood rice sausages(loved the chewy texture and mild for those queezy folks) and a dish of rice topped with sweet beef with a side of flavored boiled egg and canned corn. Oh, we got a round of the Plum drink. I can only describe it as capturing the essence of baby back ribs in a cold plumalicious glass. It grossed the Chinese girl out and well I did my very best to finish it during our hours stay here. Don’t think I’ll do that again but I always try things at least once :). The only reason for me to return might be the blood rice sausages but other than that its probably on to the next one for me~.

Don’t be fooled, Chan’s Paris is closed or something because when I sat down, they gave me a menu that said Tofu King. There were no steam buns, which is a disappointment. I did try their boiled dumplings which were average and their baked chicken was not very good. Anyway’s if you are looking for steam buns, this is not the place. If you are looking for stinky tofu, they do have some which seems to be their most popular item.

For a Northern China’s restaurant, the flavor is unexpectedly on the light side. The only thing worth writing home about is its three-flavored buns. So that and that only, we shall be back.

I love their buns and the owner was really nice to us. The only thing is their menu was strange. Some bad translation!

This place is relatively close to my where I live. Probably about 5 minutes driving distance which makes the location of this place horrible. I notice every restaurant within a 10 mile radius of my house, trust me. This place did not catch my eye ATALL and if I don’t notice it, normal people will most likely not notice it. Kind of sad really because this place has some definite potential. They are most known for there steamed buns so obviously I ordered buns. Meat buns. Yum. They were HUGE! I was expecting something generic and small– I got the complete opposite. When I took my first bite, the juice from the beat drizzled down my chin and that was when I knew I have found my bun place. It was freakishly cheap too. I also ordered the dan dan noodles. Basically they are noodles mixed with this satay sauce and peanuts giving the noodles this peanuty, creamy, savory taste. It was surprisingly satisfying because I figured only their buns were good. I’ve had better dan dan noodles though. Next time, I’m definitely gonna try other noodle dishes like their beef noodle soup. Other than the horrible location, this place is pretty good. I hope people read this review and decide to find this place and give it a try. They also gave us this dessert on the house. It was like a glazed oven baked bun with red bean and sesame inside which was pretty good but kind of dry. What kind of surprised me was the congee they served. The order or buns comes with a side congee and pickled vegetables. Usually congee is made from regular white rice, but they make theirs with red bean. Weird right? Oh well, it was still good but weird. If your local, give this place a try and get your bun on! FYI they accept credit card.

We went on a Saturday night at 6 pm. We were the only table. The food was OK, not that great. Menu was strange. Not sure how they survive? English name is a mystery: Chan’s Paris N? There’s nothing Paris about this place, it’s a Chinese dumpling type of place.

I have made a couple of visits here and will defintely go back again very soon. I usually go when i’m craving some steamed buns because this place makes them well. I also fell in love with their sour berry tea ;) it’s refreshing on a warm day. Another popular drink there is the soy milk, but I didn’t bother ordering that since it’s too common. The employees weren’t rude or impolite and the atmosphere is decent.

We went here to try the Tianjin steamed dumplings and they were delicious! We liked them better than Din Tai Fung. The DTF in Arcadia is just not as good as the DTF in Taipei. I don’t think it deserves the popularity. This place is right around the corner and in the opinion of my Taiwanese eaters, much better. Also, on a Saturday night, not busy at all, clean, fast service. Located in a strip mall at the corner of Duarte/Baldwin there is easy parking in front. We ordered one dumplings with seafood and one with pork and vegetables. Also a spicy beef stew(not bad) and sweet/sour bamboo chicken soup(pretty good). It was a lot of food because we got the imperial rice combo with the beef stew and it came with rice & sides, but nothing left over. Two adults, two kids. Definitely would go back! Good dumplings are hard to find.
