Spa Ben Mar Nico’s

I stayed at the connecting hotel and booked a deep tissue massage and a facial. The facial was relaxing and professional done. However, the massage was the worst I have EVER experienced and I have had many. I booked a deep tissue massage, to only be told when I was undressed and in the room that the therapist could not do one. My 10 year old niece could give a better massage than this therapist. She was HORRIBLE. I had to advise her that her finger nails were ripping into my back and I could not take the pain, (not the deep tissue I was looking for) she had no idea what she was doing not well trained what so ever. For the owner of this spa you really need to look into her training. As amazing as my facial was this massage was so horrible I could not wait to get out of the spa. I would not recommend this spa it was a waste of time and money. Very disappointing.

Made spa appointment midweek a couple of months ago for a Sunday appt. I woke up with what felt like stomach flu (was reaction to new medication) and knew I couldn’t go through with the massage I had been looking forward to.
I checked their website for cancellation policy but the link was broken. I called to cancel and told the girl I was sick. I was still charged the full $ 137 fee THREE days after my appointment. I was planning to use a spa gift certificate I’d gotten for my birthday. My in-​laws knew we couldn’t afford this extravagance and the owner wasn’t wiling to do anything to help.
In my job I interact with a lot of people who visit spas with their friends and family members. I discourage them from frequenting Spa Ben Mar Nicos every chance I get.

Horrible. The atmosphere is not at all like the pictures. Not at all a relaxing place. Everything is terribly cramped and congested. None of the services I or any of the ladies in my group received actually took the time they said they would. The «add ons» to the facials were not worth the extra $ 15. The technician doing my body treatment had her phone with her during my service. It was vibrating on and off. She even pulled it out of her pocket to text. We were all really looking forward this day together, and the service was so subpar. Yuck! #neveragain

Loved it. Felt like a new woman when I walked out of here. If you wanna treat yourself, this is the place to do it up. Not many excellent spas like this in Wisco, that’s for sure.

We had a girls weekend booked which included a full day of services for four of us. We were told to be there 15 minutes early (we were there 30 min. early as we were staying at the hotel). Our appointment was to start at 9:00. We watched the staff wander around, watched a women get a manicure and we sat and sat and sat. We had to be there «early» yet we did not get into our the spa until 9:30. When they finally came to get us (BY THE HOTEL ELEVATOR … Yes this is there waiting area… Not relaxing as the hotel staff also uses this area) we were told that we were suppose to have filled paperwork out and get into robes. None of which were done as the desk girl did not know what to do. We had 5 services scheduled for each of us. The manicure girls did not seem to know what they were doing. Nail polish was left on the skin (my 8 year old can do better), another manicurist did not remove all the existing polish from the nails. (Nail Polish popped off 24 HOURS after applied in FULL nail sheets). In two of the services two of us ended up with «couples» services when we DID NOT book them that way. When we were receiving facials, the young girls were cleaning the space around the while we laid there. The so called sanctuary is CO-​ED… Yes us ladies sat in our robes while a husband and wife sat there in there robes. Our pedicures… When asked if we would like a drink and we said yes that would be great we were given the «look». We had hair and make-​up also booked and the hair styles were a joke! Make-​up was great but when we asked to purchase the products they were using they said they do not sell it. They sent us to a store in the mall that then told us they had not heard of the products that we were looking for. When we were finally done for the day, we looked into the services we were suppose to get and EVERY service (facials, manis, pedis, hot stone massage and hair/​make up) was cut short of the time and we were shorted services that were within the description. We called the manager that week and explained how disappointed we were and how many services we never received. She gave us a 10% cash back. I told her that we did not receive 30−40% of the services we paid for and that 10% does not make the situation «good».

This is a nice spa for the Appleton area, but certainly not 5 star. Had a wonderful 60″ massage on a Sunday am. There are, however, many areas in which the spa can improve. 1) The changing area and women’s bathroom are tiny and too dimly lit to apply makeup and get ready afterwards, if that’s what you’re expecting to do, as I was. 2) There are not enough seats in the «sanctuary» area. I visited the spa with 4 other women and with the 5 of us, and 4 others waiting for/​finishing services, it was standing room only. Definitely not great for groups on a weekend. 3) The tea and organic snacks are suboptimal for a spa — packaged green tea, peanuts in the shell, and plain crackers. I guess I’ve been spoiled with flavored teas, cucumber water and better snacks at spas in milwaukee. 4) No reading material anywhere. As I sat and waited for the rest of my group, I could have been catching up on gossip or the latest fashion, and instead took to my phone and wrote this review. Bottom line– had a great massage at a fair price ($ 90), but the experience left much to be desired.
