I love Phở. This review focuses on that one menu item. Based on the reviews we went here for lunch. The place looks a bit like a fast-food place so already I was suspicious. The menu is a mix of different regional Asian foods, not a good sign. So we ordered and I, of course, got the Phở. I have eaten at dozens of Phở places, some amazing, some REALLY bad. This Phở was so so. The broth was a bit blah, it needs more spice, not heat, but spice and flavor. The meat was good but the portion small. The noodles were a bit mushy for my taste. They should have some chew. Like I said, just so so. If you are not a snob about Phở, like me, this is probably. I am always looking for a great bowl. There are better, near by, more authentic options if you want Phở. If you are out shopping and want a quick bite and don’t care about getting good Phở, this fast-food option will work for you.

Great service, clean space, and you can tell they care about the food. I just had the Drunken Noodle– fantastic. The Phở was also delicious. Hands down the best Asian cuisine in the south metro. I’ll be heading back soon.

Love this place!!! Consistently good Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and Sesame Chicken… The South Metro is lucky to have it. I eat here weekly.

My family and I recently moved to MN from Cali and have been searching for Phở spots comparable to the ones in LA and we were pleased. Phở was amazing, mocha boba was so good, and spring roll was great! The setup, staff, food, everything was great. We’ll definitely be back.

I’m so happy to have a local place to get good phở south of the river FINALLY. I found the broth to be deep in flavor and the meat was plentiful. I would have like to have seen tripe on the menu, but was happy that they at least had tendon, and understand that tripe might be a difficult sell in the ‘burbs. The only thing we really wished they’d provided was fresh jalepenos rather than picked, but this will not keep us away. The fresh spring rolls were also very good. Umami Bowl, we’re so glad you’re here! Can’t wait to come back.

The phở special is really good and the broth taste great without adding anything to it, the only reason this review is not getting a 5 star is because of the amount of meat I got with it. I hope it’s just because I order it for take out but other then that great food and very friendly people.

It was just ok. I ordered the garden mélange– it was very salty and had too much sauce. Also tasted like it needed some sesame oil or something. Overall I would not order it again. I also had the eggrolls– I liked them once I added some fish oil and red pepper to the dipping sauce. For $ 4 I thought the eggrolls were pretty small for the price. Total price for the meal was $ 12 which is a bit high but could easily feed 2 people. I would try this place again and try a different menu item.

Found this place online tongiht and decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. The food was fantastic and I had no problems with the prices. This is what was left of my Steak Thai Basil. I highly recommend this place.

Was excited to give this place a try! Phở in Apple Valley! I thought to myself, how convenient! Turns out, I couldn’t be more wrong. I placed an order at the register for fresh spring rolls, phở your way, and an Iced Thai Coffee. I will say, I don’t like how you pay first at the register AND you have to tip at the same time, without knowing how your food and experience will be. Thumbs down in my book. Spring rolls and iced thai coffee come out. Coffee is good! Spring rolls look good until I take an up close and personal look. They took a shortcut and instead of delicious grilled pork, they used pork cold cuts. Yikes! First time I have eaten spring rolls this way, and also my final time. Peanut sauce was pure hoison sauce with garnished peanuts. Do not order these!!! On to the phở, broth is salty and flank cuts are disgusting. That’s all I will say. If you don’t believe me, try for yourself. You will be disappointed and all I can do is say I told you so! If you want phenomenal phở and spring rolls, make the drive to Phở Tau Bay.

So I just tried the phở here and I was surprised about the qaulity because the only place to get the good stuff is in Minneapolis/Saint Paul area. The basil and bean sprouts were fresh and the broth was on point. The portions for the meats and noodles were also very generous. This place is also super convenient for me and comparable to the reateraunts in the Twin Cities! I will definitely be back here again for my hangover cure.

Kind of reminded me of walking into a Yogurt Lab for some reason, from their logo and menu to the furnishing and wall décor. The restaurant is a self serve place, order first and sit down with a number, food was up pretty quick. I had the Phở Special, the broth was flavorful and ingredients were fresh. I wasn’t too keen about their dry and tasteless flank steak though. I’ll probably order it with out that next time. Overall, ill definitely return, especially since it’s close by my house.

I arrived not hungry at all, and the food still seduced me. The workers are nice. The menu is simple and the food is good quality. Modern suburban café ambience. I’m not missing the Asian restaurants in Southern California as much now !

Brace yourself for what I’m about to say. After eating the Phở here I can honestly say that it is… BETTER than Quangs(GASP)! Oh no she didn’t! Yep, she sure did! Phở lovers, get your butts down to the southern burbs and try this place out! I can definitely see this place making the list for best Phở in the Twin Cities in the near future. I love phở, I make phở and I’ve been eating phở for almost 30 years, so believe me when I say Umami Bowl’s is pretty darn good. I also had their taro bubble tea, they make it as a smoothie blend which I was not used to but it was pretty good! If they would only start making delicious Banh Mi’s too, then I wouldn’t need to drive 30 mins to Nicollet anymore!

Nice to finally have a place nearby with good Phở. The place is small and features a open kitchen. This place is self serve when comes to drinks and utensils. My wife had the Phở and I had the Beef Drunken Noodle, my son had the egg rolls and pineapple bubble drink. The Phở broth has a rich beefy flavor that leaves you satisfied and wanting more. The Phở is better then other places that are known for there Phở. That’s saying alot… The Beef Drunken noodle was sweet, spicy with a hint of alcohol, I just wish they had a little more veggies maybe some been sprout incorporated to cut the richness of the dish. Over all very good. My son was happy with the egg rolls(a bit small for the price) and pineapple bubble drink. Will be back again for sure.

There’s a lot to both like and appreciate at Umami. I’ve been waiting for a place like since moving to the south suburbs a few years ago. The restaurant itself is clean and inviting. The layout was cleverly designed to maximize dine-in capacity. I had the Umami Street Noodle to try something«new». It was delicious and served piping hot. Who knew that red curry could taste so good if topped with white cheddar! For $ 3 I upgraded to crab Rangoon combo which was a good move. Next time I’ll try the soup combo if I don’t order the PHO; which the person next to me said was also delicious. Finally, the staff was very pleasant and attentive. They checked in on me three times during the meal. An overall great experience. I’m looking forward to my next visit and hope they eventually expand to offer delivery!

BESTPHÓ place in apple valley! Delicious savory broth! I also had the Hmongolian beef and love how tender the beef was with their delicious sauce. The boba tea are also drinks to order. Great customer service! Felt so welcomed. If you live in Apple valley and don’t want to make the trip all the way to st. paul then this place is for you. Must check it out!

Fantastic. I thought it was a new chain store when I walked in. Very bright and professional looking. I had the drunken noodles, with a spicy wine sauce. It’s a great twist on traditional Asian takeout. Best Asian in the Apple Valley /Lakeville area. We will be coming back.

Went tonight for the first time. Very pleased with the hospitality as you come into the restaurant. And the food is delicious. I started tonight with the red Thai chicken and bubble tea. Everything was really good really really good. I had my daughter to go and was very pleased with the portions that were in the package. Will be going back.

First time here. Received some coupons from a packet of coupons we get every Wednesday in the mail. Read previous Unilocal reviews and decided on Drunken Noodle bowl. I do not like red peppers or onions and was able to substitute green beans and pea pods. I also selected tofu as protein, as I stink up the house when I make tofu. The price is $ 8 but a huge takeout box. I only ate half as I was full. I also ordered Fresh Spring Roll. These were small in comparison to other places and the sauce was thick peanut sauce. I could taste no mint. I was gonna drop a star off the review but I just won’t order that next time. I also ordered a bubble tea and man was able to mix coconut and pineapple together for me. A cheerful greeting as I entered and the ability to customize your entrée was very appreciative. Great customer service and bathroom was clean. They also have Phở Bowls here too. Will I be back? Yes.
