Perkins Restaurant & Bakery

Every time we come to this place, it gets worse and worse. The servers are rude and the host is even worse. We got in and she looked at us as if we didn’t belong and was so rude! She immediately told us to wait although there was no one there except a couple tables. She assigned us to a huge table and we were only 4 people. My son can sit in a high chair and the booth was just fine. She snared fine when I politely asked to be seated in a booth. The servers came as if she told them something and was so uncomfortable the whole time. I will never go back to this location! They need to learn manners along with customer service! Horrible!

Perkins has been an Apple Valley landmark for as long I can remember. I’ve been stuffing myself here for at least the past 2 decades.
Today I am here with my family. We all found something on the menu that we like. It was good. We are all stuffed.
The pancakes are the bomb. The coffee tastes so good. We like the omelettes, too.
We will be back. Probably for another 2 decades.

Went for brunch, 2 of 5 sets of silverware had old food dried on them. Ordered tea and coffee and the coffee cup had lipstick on it from the last use still. The waitress acted like we were being picky by asking for clean items. Didn’t stick around to try the food

I went to Perkins late last night and Candy was our waitress. She is phenomenal! She was quick and kind! A+
However, I can’t say the same about management. It was obvious that if Candy was not there, the establishment would fall apart. Candy was the only one helping guests even though there was plenty of staff in sight!
Two gentlemen arrived after us; It was actually quite busy. Our waitress, Candy, had to verbally request assistance helping the abundance of guests from the manager who was just standing at the front counter. He even seemed upset about her asking for help. A big D– for the night manager. If he hadn’t smiled when we came in, (though no greeting) I would give him an F.
The two gentlemen who arrived after us got upset because they had only received their drinks and starter salad whilst we had been served our appetizer platter. Candy kindly tried to inform them that we had arrived before them but the men insisted they had been there for 45 minutes!
Okay, okay, angry old men… Nothing new… But for the ignorant night manager to berate the ONLY working employee is upsetting.
The night manager needs training! Maybe Candy could train him! When we walked there were three parties in line, three employees plus the manager behind the counter… NO ONE greeted us! We finally grabbed our own menus and took a seat.
Perkins in Apple Valley has excellent service from Candy and ½ price appetizers and pie after 9 pm!
I highly recommend for a meal for two for $ 5.75 + tax & tip

What I like about Perkins is they are pretty consistent. Some stores are great, some are okay and usually service is the differentiator.
However one universal truth is they are incredibly cheap when it comes to the lowly, cheapest garden selection known as the potato.
Specifically the hashbrown potato.
Always… year after year a minor, meager couple spoonfuls and usually barely warm… Hey! It’s a potato. So inexpensive to buy and make so … wtf?
Such a small hashbrown portion at all Perkins I’ve ever eaten breakfast at that…
…I’ve decided not to eat breakfast at Perkins because of the ridiculously small hash brown portion size.
Especially since the average breakfast is north of 8 bucks.
A distant second to that would be breakfast food temperature.
It’s never hot– no matter what you get but just acceptably warm .(heat lamp precooked bacon, cold toast .Yada yada yada. heat lamp eggs) …
Do better or close more stores. Status quo is over.

Waited 30 minutes today for lunch to arrive and then had to go ask for it. The food was poor and for the same price you could eat at either El Azteka (mexican) or Valley Tap House. Why did I go here? Let’s just say I was with someone over the age of 60.

Perkins is a very standard americana breakfast, sandwich, and dinner spot, there is really nothing super spectacular about it food-​wise. Everything we’ve had there has been good. They have a cheap menu that holds some quite good food: the Meatloaf Melt is really quite awesome, as is their Grownup Grilled Cheese (with Bacon, Tomato and Avocado!).
Other favourites of mine include the Tangler Burger, Kickin’ Chicken, and their Ruben Melt. They have a Tomato Basil Soup that is absolutely wonderful (I daresay it is the best thing they offer, it is *that* *good*!
Dad likes their pot roast and grilled salmon, when he isn’t eating just whatever I order.
Mom likes the eggs benedict, and very often orders from their specials menu, which rotates every month or so, but quite often it is something in a breakfast vein (eggs, country potatoes, and then shtuuff).
We go here quite often as it’s really convenient for us after Wednesday water color class day. They often have our regular table awaiting us, and the staff are just super delightful and accommodating.
Something we find enjoyable are the wee kids that come in with their parents. They can be such a delight to watch.

Always have a great time I only go at night’s when Candy is working she is the best waitress of any restaurant anywhere as far as im concerned she’s the reason I regularly visit this Perkins for the past 5 years and I always get the chicken tender melt never anything else because it’s the best thing ever :)

I’m disappointed that someone didn’t double check their glass thorough. I Was Served A glass with lipstick On it Now It kept me Wondering How Clean And Sanitized their dishes and utensils are. Make sure to check yours first before eating or drinking!!! Be aware of unwashed dishes and utensils.

Great place for a quick meal and some coffee. Coffee has been a tad but to strong the last couple times though. We come here quite often when we do not feel like cooking breakfast/​lunch/​dinner. It’s not the best food you have ever had and it’s not going to blow your mind either. but it is consistent and the staff is super friendly. DO sign up for their texts, we received one today for $ 5 burger and fries with the purchase of a drink! Not bad considering they are usually around $ 10.
Their menu changes with the seasons so there is usually something new to try, they are awesome with our 7 year old and make him feel pretty special. We are regulars and will most likely keep going back unless something changes

Perkins is always a good decision before going to bed or the morning after a good drinking bash. This particular location was fine, the waitress was a little cranky, but it was Halloween night so I’m sure she had been though alot, either way I don’t think I’d turn down another trip there.

Never greeted when you walk in the door. I was ignored and they sat someone before me. No apologies for mistake. Even the manager made eye contact and never helped me. Not friendly, don’t feel welcome.

In Apple Valley, not St. Paul. Service has always been great. I’ve been going there for five years and even met my wife there, lol. Food is great and at the right price. Try their mushroom & Swiss burgers! Food is always served hot and just the way you want it.
