I had my first session today. They were very helpful getting you to understand what they do and how they operate. New perspective customers get 2 free sessions to try it out. Each workout is an hour long with a trainer. You are in a group setting of 24 people max. Half of the group does strength training while the other half does cardio and then half way through, you switch. The cardio is done on state-of-the-art treadmills and you go at your pace. They said to choose a speed that you think that you can do for 20 minutes. They also have incline and decline. They vary the speeds to push you a bit for the best calorie burn. The sessions are only $ 15-$ 18 per session so it isn’t that expensive for a trainer-led class. The strength training consisted of high-tech rowing machines, incline benches with free weights, dollies and strap training where you use your own body weight and gravity for resistance. Everything was great. I enjoyed it. I am a noobie to the workout thing since the 90’s when I was in the military. I had back issues from the Army and I proceeded to gain weight since my honorable discharge and I worked hard to change 1 bad habit at-a-time and lost almost 90 pounds in 2 years. I felt like this was my next step to becoming more healthy and fit. I want to be around for a long time for my children and their children. I don’t want to make my lovely wife a widow either. The workout wasn’t easy, it was my first one for over 15 years that I have been pushed by an instructor. The instructor works with the people closely and the new people even closer yet. She saw that my back was hurting but I was the ONLY guy in the place and I couldn’t let the ladies show this veteran up! I pushed on and didn’t quit but she slowed me down a bit because I obviously was pushing myself to the limit. She also gave me and a couple other some alternate exercises to help us along without stopping that would be better for our personal situation. I didn’t want to use my injury as an excuse and didn’t really tell them the full magnitude of my injury, which I maybe should have, I had 6 nerves burned out of my back so I wasn’t in pain everyday but I still suffer from a lot of muscle spasms and knots. I wanted to push through it to get stronger. I am sore after the workout and spent time in my hot tub before going and ice packs after the workout to try to minimize my muscle fatigue. I am happy that I went and I plan on stopping back next time with my wife to try it, she felt left out. They do use heart rate monitors that show up on the screen so you can see where you are at. They have chest bands and also wrist watch bands to monitor this and then they email you with your results after you workout so you can see how you did. Very high tech, new equipment, the people were all friendly and helpful. They made you feel comfortable and were thorough with the tour and carefully explaining everything to you so you don’t feel like an outsider. Even the people that were working out alongside me were helpful to coach me if I missed a change or how to operate my treadmill. They have a shower that you can use if needed and lockers. Check this place out, I think you will like it. Good luck in your fitness goals! See you there!

I joined orange theory a couple weeks ago. I have to say I LOVE it. The classes are an hour long but they fly by because there is so much going on. I tend to burn between 500 – 600 calories in a class and you burn an extra 200 – 400 the day after. YAY after burn! So, the 1 downfall… The price. For me its $$$$. I pay more than triple what I pay for LA fitness monthly for 8 classes a month at OTF. I have to say I’m probably getting triple the better workout going to OTF than doing it on my own though. I don’t know if I will do it forever with the price.

I really love this workout concept. A 1-hour workout consisting of treadmill, rower and floor time, taught by a personal trainer. Workouts are predictable with changes here and there. I tend to burn 400 – 500 calories per workout and see others sometimes burning 500 — 900+. The concept centers around interval training. I have always loved Life Time Fitness, but love the personal attention I get at Orange Theory, in a classroom setting.
