Window Wise

I posted this earlier but I don’t see it listed any more. James agreed to come out and measure the window for replacement and gives us a quote. Shortly thereafter, I told him we wanted him to do the work. He told me that it would take two weeks to come out and measure. I didn’t question what he needed to measure a second time or why, and we had the time to get the window replaced so we accepted the conditions. After two and a half weeks he apparently comes out to measure and tells us then that he doesn’t think he can do the job.
Why not mention you can’t do the job before providing a quote? Why not mention that you can’t do the job when you say it’ll take two weeks to come measure? Why did you need to measure it a second time?
I can’t say anything about the work he does, because we never got that far, but I can tell you that he might waste a couple weeks of your time. I hope you’re not on a schedule.

Who knew that broken window seals are such a persistent issue? We encountered the problem in both the home we’re selling and the one we’re buying! The result is lowered insulation and foggy windows; and the solution is to replace the whole kit and kaboodle. Not a happy unexpected expense.
James came recommended to us by way of our real estate agent (via another agent, who refers him to her own clients). We called in Rice’s Glass as well for quotes. James’ quote was very competitive; on top of that, he was pleasantly polite and got his quote to us immediately (we had to wait on Rice’s, and then finally call them to follow up and remind them to send the quote).
On the day of service, James arrived as scheduled and completed the project in a quicker window of time (punny!) than expected. And the new windows look great as far as I can tell!
